Checked this small pub out since it was open late- and we were not disappointed. Service was super friendly and fine, music was international and easy, tvs were on and people were drinking and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. We got a loaded Canadian burger and a butter chicken bowl with rice and tsazimi (no onions) and we' were happy with our orders! I also got a Long Island iced tea that came out promptly before the food- which was great- and he got aight blonde recommended draft beer that was also good! In all, a good food experience in Golden and we both have leftovers for lunch, so : bonus! Enjoy! read more

Wandering around Golden's downtown stopped in at the lovely place. I love the interior it's rustic and cabin feeling. We were seated right away since they had literally just opened. We were heading up to Kickinghorse for a hike and wanted a nice meal before we started the trek. I ordered the steak sandwich. It was done perfectly. My steak tasted so good, cooked just as I had requested and seasoned very well. The caeser salad was delicious. It cost me $23. My friend ordered the spicy chicken wrap also with a caeser salad and she had nothing but good things to say about. We ate every last bite. We started asking our server what we should do for the day, he's the one who suggested the hike, he also told us that if we buy a specific pass we can go up 7700 feet hike the mountain AND visit the grizzly bear refuge and meet Boo the bear. He gave us a story of Boo and then told us to have a drink at the restaurant on the mountain which is the highest restaurant in Canada. Our entire day was set by that meal. Great hospitality and great meal. Come here for the food and ask them what you should do for the day. read more

My girlfriend and I ordered takeout from The Golden Taps Pub while we were having a relaxing vacation at Kicking Horse last weekend. We were looking to get some delicious pub food and this place for sure satisfied that craving. We ordered the Combo Platter, Hot Wings, Ginger Beef, and Chicken Fingers. Hard to pick a favorite dish as all the dishes were above average, zero complaints from either of us, and the server/bartender was very friendly and helpful. One thing I did notice is that I smelt like a deep fryer after leaving even though I was only in there for 10 mins to pick up my order lol but that's all good with me. Next time I'm in Kicking Horse I know to come back to the Golden Taps if I'm craving any deep fried goodness. read more

Friendly bartenders and servers and an easy-going atmosphere make this the place to go to share a meal with friends in a place where you won't have to shout to hear each other. They have some Begbie craft beers (Revelstoke area) on tap and some non-local beverage available in bottles and cans (cider and the like). Belly up to the bar if you're feeling sociable and want to meet others, or grab a booth space and make your own gaggle of conversation. Either way, you'll enjoy yourself with everything you need in the way of appetizers, entrees, or thirst quenchers. On the second night that we stopped here, there was a rock band from Vancouver playing: Chase the Bear. The sound guy did a good job balancing the amped sound. The acoustics in the pub sounded pretty good. I'm not sure how often they have live music events, but it's for sure an added treat and reason to visit The Golden Taps. read more

We stopped here after hiking. There was plenty of seating available. They had a half a dozen local craft beers. Happy hour is from 5 to 6pm. We had poutine and burgers. The food was very good. We caught shift change and had 2 waitresses. Both were attentive. The only complaint we had was the place was quite warm and the outside seating was full sun. Fun pub with a good beer selection. Food is good and fairly priced. Not gourmet eats but good solid pub food. Waitress was friendly and service was good. Wed night in Sept it was mostly locals but everyone was having a good time and easy going atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you are in town. Hopefully the food improved with the recent change of ownership (fall 2013); I normally won't eat there. It's definitely the cool small local spot to grab a drink. Great bands come. The back patio is open year 'round and the front patio in the summer is the best in town. read more

My wife & I were in Golden for the first time and thought we'd stop in at the Tap for a beer. Aside from a great menu with lots of choice The Tap also has a nice selection of local beers, excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere. The Tap has an authentic mountain bar feel with photos of the town and ski resort, cozy tables and friendly staff who want to ensure you have a great time. If you want a "local mountain pub experience" with delicious home made pub food and excellent service this is the place to go in Golden! read more

Great atmosphere! We were visiting from the US, skiing in the area and it was just what we were looking for. The food was tasty -- the Cowboy burger was bomber. The sauce on it was delicious. The french dip was also good, a little light on the meat for the price, but high quality. The employees were friendly and original folks. Authentic. Best part was the draft beer options were great and a pitcher of beer was cheap! Good beer, cheap in Canada...hard to believe! I'll definitely go back and recommend this place to others! read more

Suitably grimy for a dive bar, this place is ridiculously expensive for what you get. Even during happy hour, $2.50 for a draft sounds great, until you see the 5 ounce glass. $14 for a pound of wings sounds great, until you see the shriveled up half a pound at most serving. Add the wait time for the bartender to stop ignoring you and actually pour you a drink, and this adds up to a 2 star rating. read more
