I'm a huge fan of Blue Dog Cafe. We stubbled into BDC on a rainy afternoon shopping and exploring Invermere and we were O'So happy we did! The selection of freshly made food is great. Everything we ate was excellent, from the soup to the chips and salsa (which they make in house). We were so impressed that we made another trip into town just so we could eat and relax in BDC before returning State Side. They offer a great selection of Kicking Horse coffee to include their own brew (which is really good actually). Their home made deserts are a treat not to be missed and again, the service is great (very friendly). If you haven't been here, you're missing out!

I always use Yelp to help me choose a place to eat when I am travelling. I was passing through Invermere and looking for somewhere to get a late lunch. The Blue Dog Cafe had good reviews on Yelp so that's where we went. They have a good number of items on their menu so I think most people will find something they will like. I cold not decide between a few choices and while I was deliberating another customer received his order for a chicken sandwich with cranberry chutney. I asked him if he liked it and after he took a bit he gave it the , so that's what I ordered with a cup of creamy tomato soup, which actually had chunks of tomato and onions. My partner ordered the falafel pita and she said it was good. When on a road trip it can be easy to default to a fast food chain, but you can get that fare anywhere. I find that it can be much more rewarding (and healthier) to find a local restaurant for an experience unique to where you are. Thanks to Yelp I am usually happy with the places I choose. The Blue Dog Cafe has the usual beverage options and I picked a bottled craft ginger beer, but I wish I had noticed the home made flavoured sodas, which I will have to try the next time I visit Invermere . To sum up, good, healthy food made to order and decent value.

Tasty food, funky atmosphere, friendly staff all await at Blue Dog. Its also a great place to stop before/after hitting Kinsmen Beach. Good value for money will leave you glad you visited.

    Kind of a cool decor!

It took us a while to be seated although there was a lot of room. The manager seemed overwhelmed and was flying around. When I asked him what he liked on the menu he answered eggs, which is fun because eggs weren't even on the menu. Food came out slowly and servers were fine i just think they could have used a few more. my husband had a burger with fries and i had the falafel wrap with Caesar salad. Hubby was appreciative of the burger and said that it was "fine". My falafel wrap was excellent. The falafel itself were a little mushy on the inside but flavourful. The sauces and the home made pickles made an extrodinary combo. Totally reccomend this dish. The Caesar salad was lightly dressed, fresh and crunchy. A fantastic lunch. Come here for the view. Stay for the food.

However our meal was not one of the first served as some of our food was missed delivered to another table. I didn't feel that the bread and butter was outstanding for the price as it was over toasted. We did like our main course choices as all of us cleaned our plates. The view was outstanding as we were able to see both mountain and river. Expect the cost to be higher because of the location and the view versus just the food itself. Well we enjoyed our meal we did find that we enjoyed other places that cost a little less more while on our trip. Also our service was not bad but our server did enjoy chatting with other tables which might have led to some of the delay of our food being bright as we were in the restaurant for approximately 90 minutes total time from sit down to paying our bill.

We always try to visit locally owned spots when we travel so in we went for a sweet treat…read more There are quite a few pictures on the walls and information about the history of this spot and the family that presumably still operates this bakery. There was a basket at the front with discounted bread from the previous day. It was very hard to resist because it looked delicious and was less than $2. We were headed out for a hike next so we stuck to our plan for one treat each. We were really hoping for pastries but that section of the case was empty oddly enough. My husband chose the oatmeal raisin cookie. It was way too crunchy and not much flavor unfortunately. I adore meringue and was intrigued by the unique shape of theirs so that was my choice. Perfection! My big issue with meringues are the gumminess inside the big fat ones. This design remedies that and I will be buying a piping bag and making mine this way forevermore. The chocolate dip was a nice, yummy touch as well. Just an idea for the shop-- We have a place in the UK and there is a shop there that adds chunks of candy bars to their meringues and it is heavenly. Seed planted, locals! You're welcome!!

It is played out very nicely with an area to sit and enjoy your tea and sweets. The displays are beautiful and lure you to buy more calories than your body needs. Since this is the last day of our stay in Canada, I purchased some truffles to give as gifts. They were very nicely wrapped in a small see through box. I also purchased some tea ...mango passionfruit for my daughter-in-law who likes all sorts of unique teas. The lady at the counter was courteous and there was a young man sweeping the floor as we entered who greeted us with a smile! Too bad we waited for the last day of our vacation to visit.
