Firstly, shoutout to the awesome team working. They accommodated 15 of us when we showed up to eat after a tournament and they were very helpful. Service was prompt and friendly and the estimated wait time of 15 minutes was right on the money. The Fire Wok Stir Fried Rice with 2 Flavors comes with 16-18 pieces of boneless chicken (see photo). I thought both flavors were pretty good - Honey Thai Chili and Soy Garlic. There was extra sauce in the recess of the container for each flavor that I used a spoon to pour over the chicken which was necessary, especially for the Soy Garlic since the pieces were on the dry side otherwise. This spot is easily one of my top spots to go to when I want wings! Walking in, you are always greeted by the staff or owner. They make you feel comfortable and make sure you have everything that you need. They treat everyone like family. The food smells delicious & there's always a family dining in enjoying their meals. I've first heard of Fry N' Wings at an international festival in Bolingbrook. Then I tried out their St Charles location. I was elated when they opened up a second location in Bloomingdale. Huge shared parking lot. When you walk in, they have sufficient amount of seating but it can be limited if it's busy. The owner was very kind and attentive. We were able to try some samples of the sauces. We did a combo (30 wings with 3 different flavors, fries, and veggies). Salted egg is an absolute must. Just a FYI, there's a small charge for it. We also had Carolina gold and Asian Cajun. Carolina gold is like tangy from the mustard and a little sweet. It's very good. Asian Cajun is a mild kick to it. Not very spicy. I also recommend trying out soy garlic, honey Thai chili, and Parmesan garlic. If you're wondering, the wings do not taste the same the next day when you heat them up. Other than that, all of the wings were crispy and very meaty. You get that you paid for. We decided to have lemon pepper fries which were delicious. This is our second time trying Fry N' Wings. We went to the St Charles location before. We were there on a Wednesday night. There were a several of customers there but it wasn't too busy. We ordered the family meal deals. It comes with 30 wings, fries, veggie sticks, and 3 sauces of your choice. The staff was nice and gave us sauce to try before we ordered. We got the salted egg, caroline gold, and Asian cajun. I still like the salted egg the best. Asian Cajun has a little kick to it. They will charge you $1.99 extra if you get the salted egg and buldak gochujang sauce. I'm not sure if it is their special sauce or what. It is worth it. Their fries were also good. We added lemon pepper to the fries. It made the fries more tasty. The place have plenty of seats. The place was clean. They have a water dispenser for customers to get water to drink. A+ across the board. This is a unicorn restaurant. Food is incredible, staff are kind, place is immaculately clean, and good prices. I was blown away by this place. The server was super nice and helpful, offering all sorts of recommendations that were spot-on. They have the best wings I've tried in the area. Even when reheating them in the airfryer, the chicken remains crispy and the sauce doesn't burn (which is a definite plus). Filipino or Asian Flavored Wings! The salted egg flavor is my favorite. Please note that there is an upcharge of $1.99 for salted egg flavor. The Parmesan Garlic is my second favorite. The Asian Cajun lacks the kick, it needs more of the cajun spice. The Mango Sriracha, not crazy about this one. And look at the big portion of rice! Yes... of course, I need it... I am a Filipino! The fries were my absolute favorite! They were still crispy with all of the cheese and sauce on it. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was flavorful and crispy with pickles that snap and soft bread. Fresh, hot and delicious wings with so many sauces and rubs to choose from. The wings are super meaty and so crispy. They must change the fryer grease often since the wings tasted like fresh crispy wings and not like old grease. We chose fries on the side which were loaded with whatever you wanted to put on top. For this being counter service, it was still great that people working there were more than happy to get us water or other things we needed for our dinner. Not really a fan of korean chicken places but my friend said their wings are good so I have to try. They have lots of choices on flavors and what intrigued me is the salted egg wings! They have unique flavor but delicious! I could taste the salted egg and probably good with rice (which we did not order). The other flavor ive tried is lemon pepper whcih is yummy too. Their chicken wings are big, crunchy but juicy inside so really worth for me driving here. The other order we have is the asian cajun fries. Delicious! The place is small with few tables and chairs. Eagerly anticipating our first time coming here for Korean flavored chicken wings, we were very disappointed in the service (or lack thereof). We were already running late to bring home lunch, but we were in the area running errands so decided to come here. I recognize that we could have placed the order beforehand, but 1) I wanted to minimize the time the chicken was standing uneaten while already sauced, since sogginess is the enemy of deliciousness when it comes to Korean-style fried chicken. 2) was first time so wasn't sure what to order. To maximize our time, I ran over to the Pho place next door to place my order (I can't help myself). My daughter placed and paid for a to-go order here: 30 wings (up to 6 flavors, but we stuck with 3: Mild, Asian-Cajun, Soy Garlic for $39.95), order of large fries with snow cheese ($4.28), and 5 piece asian-cajun fried corn ($4.09). It was clear from the beginning that this is a Filipino owned/operated local restaurant (Filipino artifacts, newspaper available), which she LOVES to support so ordered a lot of food and gave a very generous dine-in level tip for a carryout order. I got my Pho under 15 minutes, so came back to sit with her to wait. We found a place to sit in the dining room, and watched orders being fulfilled by the waitress/order taker...even take out orders that were placed after us. My thought was that they must prioritize dine-in orders since we saw food being delivered within 10 minutes of an order being placed. And each time, the waitress never acknowledged us that we were there. Neither of us like to make a fuss, but finally after 25 minutes. she got up to ask her what was happening. She then went to the back, came back with a response: "Oh, the fried corn still needs to be made"....like that was a perfectly valid thing. Bothered by her nonchalant answer and visions of our crispy chicken wings slowly getting soggy because 'the corn wasn't ready'...I got up and angrily told her to skip the corn so we could be on our way. That got her attention, and she rushed back to the kitchen. She came back out immediately, preceded to take care of another thing in front (note there weren't any other customers waiting at this point). but then came back to the kitchen to get our order, and came back 3 minutes later with the order. She gave a half-hearted 'Sorry for the delay' and that was that. No other apology, or attempt to make it better, or even offer to take back the $10 tip. To be clear, I don't believe she had any maliciousness about any of this...but an attitude to keep us informed because we were waiting (while others got their food first) was just missing....and it wasn't THAT busy. Service like this just makes me want to write a one-star review, but I had to admit when I got home, that the wings were good. As expected, the mild wasn't good...the sauce had made the wing no longer crispy and the flavor was underwhelming. However the two drier sauces (Soy Garlic and Asian-Cajun) had not made the wings soggy, and the crispiness along with the unique sauces made it very good. The Asian Cajun reminded me of the southeast asian sauce drier sauces that I've tried back at home (Like the Dirty Elvis). I wouldn't call this a KFC place, since the only Korean sauce was Buldak-Gochuchang, which we skipped. But they do wings well, and many of the wings were jumbo sized. The fried corn was just as good as what you can get at Wingstop, and at a better price. The fries were bad...even though they had gotten soggy, they were never crispy to begin with...they had been undercooked....and the snow cheese was not what we expected (Korean style powdered cheese)...plus it was supposed to be a Large size, but would be considered a regular at other places. Would definitely skip that if I knew. So I can't recommend this restaurant, even though I really, really wanted to (a Filipino-owned restaurant serving Korean chicken wings...c'mon...). And don't tip them until your interaction is complete....and if that means no tip because you have to pay up front, so be it. read more
