As stated in my previous review --- there aren't too many options when you get this far north on route 15 in Pennsylvania. We really enjoyed our past visit and when passing by recently, around lunch time, we stopped in again. Our waitress was excellent -- as usual. This time I opted for the hot turkey sandwich and my wife got their famous turkey BLT. I also got coffee, which they provide in your own pot, which I liked. The turkey BLT is one of their staples, and it was really delicious with a smoky flavor. The hot turkey came with a side salad and mashed potatoes. You do not leave hungry and it's like Thanksgiving dinner all over. I upgraded my previous rating to 5 stars-if you like homestyle cooking, a diner like vibe and great service you'll love this place. We stop here about once every other year (minus pandemic times) and always love the very basic and traditional turkey dinners. They have been doing this for decades - the history is fascinating- and they have it down. Service is country friendly and accommodating. So if you want turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes maybe a veg, (they have other options too!) in a quiet, wood paneled roadside restaurant (big parking lot, gas station conveniently next door) stop in and enjoy the photos, food and friendly people! read more

The ambience was very relaxed. Diner style furnishings. Food was very tasty but not overdone with flavour. All very home made ingredients. Good thing to note is that most dinners have the ability to be made smaller sized too. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered the World famous turkey dinner. The meal consisted of turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, and a side of rainbow sherbet. They usually serve it with cranberry sauce but they were out. Overall, the meal was pretty good. Not the same as homemade, but close enough. It also came with a side salad or coleslaw. The home page of their website states that they use the "finest and freshest ingredients." Yet, the turkey slices in the "Famous Turkey Dinner" are dry and bland, the stuffing is made with sliced white sandwich bread, the cranberry relish comes in a neatly shaped cube (seemingly carved right out of a can), and the corn tastes like microwaved canned corn. I had an interest in ordering the Turkey and Waffles, but looking over other reviewers' pictures, I noticed that the waffles looked a bit Eggo-esque and instantly decided to skip this dish. The food ended up being a huge turn off, starting with the straight-out-of-the-bag bread rolls, syrupy iced tea, and watered down coffee, which was a shame because the staff was so kind and friendly. Even though this restaurant specializes in turkey dishes, I would actually recommend the "Turkey Ranch Chicken Special". It was way tastier than the "Famous Turkey Dinner," and actually might have been made from fresh ingredients. It consisted of a chicken breast topped with mushrooms, BBQ sauce, melted provolone, along with a side of nicely crisp fries. I think this experience would have been more like 3 stars if I had not tasted the turkey dinner plate. For the price, I expected better quality. Found this place by accident on the way to the PA Grand Canyon, so of course we had to stop for dinner on the way home. Went the #1 The Famous Turkey dinner and the Prime Rib Special!! Stopped for fuel, before 9 pm. Fueling took a little while, the the pump shut me off at 9pm, and wasn't even half way through fueling. Went to walk in the door to speak with the clerk, and she shut the lights off and locked the door as I walked up to the door. She then stood there and ignored me when I asked her to turn the pump back on. She wouldn't even give me my receipt from what I had pumped - therefore throwing off my trip deductions and taxes for my CPA. Extremely discourteous, as there were others wanting to pump gas and diesel. 9PM and you close down on a major N/S tricking highway - I get closing for food, but for fuel, drinks, and even a restroom - it's disgustingly unprofessional. I hope they put up a loves or a limit right next to you and put you out of business. I will be sure to never purchase fuel here ever again. AVOID unless you need to poop before 9pm. read more

In olden days, it was a 24x7 truck stop. Truckers are like truffle hunters in searching tasty road food and a spot to exchange speed trap intelligence. I came across it traveling from Upstate to Durham. Veni, vidi, vici: saw, came, ate! They were required by law to separate the ranch from the eatery. I got the cheddar mushroom burger (minus the cheddar) with fries which was delish and has fresh and not canned mushrooms on it. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very homey. Looking to stop to eat off Rte 15, Fry Brothers is great tasting diner food. My husband had fried chicken dinner and liked it. I ordered turkey with biscuits in the smaller portion, which is $2 less, and it too was good tasting. I can't imagine eating the regular portion size because I couldn't finish my dinner. So you can count on portions being hearty and good value. Clean pleasant dining room with friendly staff and fast service. Great stop for travelers. Extra treat for me is their gift shop has funny kitchen towels in quality linen/cottons. Liked them so much I had to buy three. We will stop here again when passing through and hungry. read more

On the way to see my husband's family in Rochester, we always stop by at the Fry Bros Turkey Ranch restaurant, and stopping there is my favorite part of the trip (except for seeing my wonderful in-laws). Their dishes are not five star culinary dishes, but they are representative of American cuisine. I think it's a local spot, and it could get really busy during the holiday season. I love the turkey veggie soup - so delicious and comforting. Of course the Turkey DInner always rocks! Their gravy is interesting, and I can't quite tell what it's made out of ... (but I prefer not knowing..). People are always friendly, and you get a good service despite that it's kind of transient spot. Excellent breakfast. Good prices and service. This place has been next to route 15 since about 1940. It has a reputation with everyone who has ever stopped in. So we were watching for it and it totally satisfied us and exceeded our expectations. The menu was breakfast - it was too early for lunch. So we enjoyed good coffee, crisp bacon (as we requested), eggs cooked to order, and whole wheat toast. If you're ever going south on Rt. 15 on the way to Williamsport PA, be sure to stop here and get a bite to eat. If you have a piece of their pie, let me know how it was. read more

Well a lot has happened since the Fry Brothers opened their first restaurant on this site on Mother's Day, 1939.....but they are still serving a decent Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings for $12.95 Now don't get me wrong, it's not great--but it "ain't bad neither." Figure diner dinner not Grandma homemade. The coffee is good, and they leave a pot at the table. The table is Formica left over from the 70's, but clean enough. The staff is friendly and are more than happy to warm up your dinner when it doesn't arrive hot enough the first time. I would skip dessert as they are definitely purchased elsewhere, try a thick milkshake instead. More than any other reason though, come for the story of the Fry Brothers and the Turkey Ranch they owned before Rte. 15 needed more land. Stay and enjoy the atmosphere...where else can you see a stuffed coyote and turkey while you dine? You will not leave hungry or poor. My family used to stop here on our way to and from our vacation home in NY. I always drive passed thinking I should stop again..a few weeks ago traveling with my boyfriend I told him we were going to try an old tradition. The parking lot was packed and there was a short wait for a table. We were seated pretty quickly and greeted by 1 server who took our drink order. Immediately after another server came over to take our drink order too. I assume they work on "turns" and it got a little mixed up. My boyfriend got the traditional turkey dinner and I went with the turkey salad. He was a little frustrated his salad didn't come out before the meal like we noticed other patron's side salads. When we requested the salad she came back with our entire meals. Mine was good, I was surprised by the pickled eggs on the side, I thought it was a nice touch..pretty basic salad, iceburg, tomato, cucumber, cheese, turkey and croutons. Paul said his was good as well but he wasn't impressed by the price.. Now that I think about it...it is over priced for instant mashed potatoes and a generic canned gravy. I get that they do A LOT of business but if your claim to fame is a turkey dinner it should at least be the real deal. I guess it was just more magical when I was a kid! read more

I had my mother's birthday party at Fry's today and i cant thank the management and staff enough for going above and beyond to make the day memorable. The service was spectacular for a crowd of 70 on top of their normal Sunday lunch customers. Food was great as ALWAYS...have never had anything that was less than great. We are only rating this restaurant a 1 because of the friendly service & wait staff. Otherwise the Turkey was dry and tasteless, we've had better turkey out of a TV dinner. The Hot Turkey Sandwich had no flavor and the Turkey tasted like it had been recently frozen and reheated. The Turkey and Biscuits was even worse because the biscuits were more like hockey pucks. We cannot speak to any of the other food that they serve but for a $30.00 dinner we expected more than a bad reheated soggy TV dinner like meal. read more

We needed lunch and randomly stopped here (versus a fast food chain option). It was your standard sit-down family restaurant, but with a turkey theme. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing exciting. Since standard American fare isn't our favorite, you should add a star if you tend to like your food on the ...well... boring/bland side. We each had a burger, one Angus beef, one turkey. The meat was properly cooked (also not too greasy, and not too tough). The fries weren't soggy or undercooked -- they were decent beer-battered fries. The bun was neither rock-like nor did it disintegrate on contact with ketchup. But we agreed the three slices of pickle on the side were the best part of the meal. The behavior of some nearby diners detracted from our experience, but I don't think they were regulars -- the place can easily get loud, though, if it got that loud while that empty. We were both disturbed by the taxidermy. The problem wasn't that it was there, but that it was noticeably dusty. This oversight didn't seem to extend to the rest of the establishment. The rest of the place seemed fairly clean (even the ketchup container!), if a bit worn in spots. According to my wife the women's restroom needed a quick sweeping and to have the paper-towel trash emptied but this could have *easily* been due to the large party of diners alluded to above. Our server seemed scared of us, perhaps because I had pulled out by netbook to very optimistically look for some WiFi. If you're near Mansfield and heading south on US-15 (future I-99!), too hungry to make it to Williamsport (or vice-versa!), and would rather support someplace local over a chain, this isn't a bad option -- but it's not something that seemed worth going out of your way to visit. Oh, and it looks like their turkey dinners get served with a scoop of rainbow sherbert. Just so you're forewarned. In one word: Yummy! We just stopped here based upon the positive Yelp reviews. While the decor is definitely 'truck stop' and there's NO turkey ranch to speak of, the food was very tasty. Of course, if you go to the Turkey Ranch restaurant, you should have turkey! And we did. I had the homemade Turkey Vegetable soup. Wow. This was homemade deliciousness to the max. The broth was so flavorful but light. There was an abundance of turkey meat, plus corn, lima beans, potatoes, tomatoes, onions and other goodies. I couldn't finish my bowl of soup...I wish I could have! My husband had the turkey club sandwich. Nice thick slices of roasted turkey, thick and chewy bacon, not too much mayo...nice! It was served with bread and butter pickles and chips, but hubby got a side of fries as well. Nice chunky fries tossed in a bit of batter and fried up crisp. The toxic looking day glow yellow "gravy" was brighter yellow than my daughters weird corn. Even the salad was bad. So, off I go, intrepid traveller on yet another adventure, blah, blah, blah, you get the idea. So my companion and I have been driving about 4 hours and need somewhere to eat and pee, order irrelevant. We're driving up 15 and haven't seen anything in a bit when, lo and behold, the turkey ranch looms before us. We pull in to investigate. So walking in we see what appears to be a hunting lodge, complete with mounted stuffed animals. The staff is friendly enough, and we're soon seated with a nice view of a mountain lion. So as this place is called 'Turkey Ranch', I order the turkey sandwich, with my usual Mountain Dew. Not much for sides or beginners, so I get applesauce with a dash of cinammon. The turkey is out before I can eat a small dish of sauce, smokung hot, while my fellow diner is halfway through his salad and looking at his steaming roast beef sandwich. We soon get to our food. Despite drowning in gravy, my turkey is a little dry. The mashed potatoes, however, are quite good. The food quality and service are pretty good. A bit pricey for the plate, though, a turkey sandwich with mash and a Dew shouldn't come in at just shy of 15. Well, this place sounds better than it is. On the good side I did like the turkey. It was moist and flavorful. "Filling" appears to be chopped up turkey meat. The only green veg is the tossed salad, I mean bagOlettuce with dressing. And the cole slaw. BTW the FF are like those old Burger King seasoned fries.
