Fruit tree is truly a savior when it comes to buying groceries to making cultural dishes people often love. They often have food items that you may not find in a chain or standard northeastern grocery store. I recently came here to buy sorrel (dried hibiscus flowers/roselle) that is utilized for create a special holiday drink in Caribbean culture. Lucky for me they had some! When I'm looking for ingredients for Jamaican or Haitian dishes, I'll consider them and often times they have what I need. Additionally, I think this is a good local spot if you are looking for food items for Hispanic dishes. They know who their target audience. I will say some items were expensive so it's good to compare to other local businesses to get the best bang for your buck. Here we go, So my daughter kept telling me about this place, but you know me always waiting until the last minute to go check things out lol. I have been hearing from others how amazing this supermarket is. As a first time customer I was able to get free case of water. Yippie.. The parking lot is a bit small but hey I guess you have to go there at a certain time. This place was pretty crowded. Shocking to see even though I went at 1pm on a weekday. Anyway there is a shopping cart monitor standing outside. The gentleman was very courteous. There were bins of fruit located outside before you walk through the doors. This store was stocked up, very clean, items were in order. Fruits and veggies are fresh. Seafood department was so clean. I was impressed. Fish was fresh as well. Prices were pretty reasonable. It's very packed to navigate thru this store. I thought prices were higher than a store like Guintas. They also have half of the shop is a fish market and the smell emanates thru the store. The people who work there are very nice! read more

Still my go to market when I'm looking for "Ethnic" foods. They carry Spanish, Polish, Asian & West Indian specialty foods. This last visit was for some goat meat. I've never made it before. Only had it at Jamaican restaurants for take out. With some help from my fellow Yelper TJ who told me the ingredients. I guessed at amounts & winged the rest. Bam! Dinner was made. Fruit tree is a nice big clean place. Their roast beef price just jumped from 5.99 to 7.99. BJ's wholesale 6.99 and better. Fruits and vegetables looked nice. Big selection of Spanish foods. I recommend them. read more

It used to be called Sal's fruit tree but I kind of like this place better even though I didn't think I would. The meat department looks like the meat is a lot fresher and the deli department has a large quantity of cold cuts cheeses and salads I also scene crab cakes and fried chicken cutlets and they all look good the produce department looks like it has a larger quantity vegetables and fruit to pick from in the seafood department has a large quantity of clams shrimp oysters fillet fish and whole fish and all of it looks fresh the frozen food department is a lot bigger then the old fruit tree so there's a lot of choices to pick from sometimes The prices on some items are higher than in the supermarket so you just have to watch what you get read more

I've been going to the Fruit Tree for many years. While it was a bit cramped and "markety", the variety and prices were always great. I missed them greatly while they were closed for almost a year (what was supposed to be only a few months originally). With much anticipation on my part, they recently re-opened, having undergone what appears to be a huge facelift. While the store itself seems roomier, there does not seem to be any improvement in selection, and the prices have surely gone up a bit. This was my go-to neighborhood market for a long time, but now it feels no different than the average supermarket. It almost feels like a failed effort to me. They were the best little guy before. Now it kind of feels like a not-so-great supermarket TRYING to be like the big guys. I hope it works out in the long run for them, but I just don't see myself going out of my way to shop here anymore. It's lost it's charm so to speak. read more

I been coming here forever. While everyone else hates the improved version, read the other reviews, I love it. Best is roomier, to me the fish market has better selection. The fruit variety is the same. I don't think the prices went up. If they did why give your $ to major grocery stores when you can give it to a small businesses. Just the way I think. Produce selection is terrific, great variety and usually fresh. Prices on produce are great, but other shelf stable items can be more than other places. Fish market is decent but hit or miss sometimes. read more

Disappointed today stopped by picked up Red Snapper fillet and it was bad it smelled fishy and even when washed it smelled bad, despite this tried cooking it I believe my intestines will be thanking me for not eat the terrible offer by an otherwise nice fish stop in this store. This market is nothing like the old Sal's Fruit tree. The fruits and Vegetables are not fresh and looked terrible. I will never return.
