This place is an abomination. Zero stars if I could. We ordered and the lady was super sweet and then we took a seat. After 40 min, we realized the food hadn't come out yet so I asked the "barista" and he literally goes "it takes 35 for the food to come out" in his nasty tone so I literally just walk away from him at this point. Finally, the food comes out and it legit looks like cow poo. The bacon is SO dry as if it's been out for like 100 years and it shatters into pieces as soon as we picked it up - disgusting. The pork sausage looked like someone in the kitchen bit a piece and put it on the plate. I can't with this place and it was the biggest wait and waste of my life. AVOID. read more

The teas on the front counter are really good. I had an iced Lavender one and was a big fan. One of the best parts of this place (besides the goodies) is the space itself. It's fabulous. Good location and tons of room. Nothing is quite so trite as the great coffee place with only two seats permanently taken by hipsters with Macs. That wasn't a problem when I was here. When I received it I asked if I could speak the to manager to see if I could get a new one and YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO SERVED ME THE BAGEL. THE MANAGER. When I asked her if we could get it remade she said it would take just a few minutes.... not sure why she thought it was OK to serve it if making a replacement was that quick and easy. I would have preferred she told me it was burnt and they were remaking it then having to go through asking A MANAGER to do a quality control on the food she is running. This is not my first time at Frothy Monkey but it will be my last time specifically at this location. They were out of multiple food items leaving a very limited menu. We understand and continued to order coffee and the very limited items on their menu. When the iced lattes arrived they had chucks of "milk fat" due to their non homogenized milk. It was disgusting, we did not even drink them. After pointing it out and saying we didn't want them they only offered to cover 50% which is understanding if they actually had a sip but they didn't even get that chance. On a Sunday around lunchtime this place was packed. You stand in line, order at a counter and they bring you your food. One hour wait for the food which they had warned us about. After checking reviews and talking to several locals I decided to have breakfast here at Frothy Monkey. Poorly disappointing. First I ordered the FARM BREAKFAST which consisted of 2 farm eggs cooked to order, Broadbent's bacon or pork sausage, herb-roasted red potatoes, orange wedges, and toast for $9.50. They cooked the eggs perfectly as I ordered them over medium. A majority of places under cook this style of eggs to over easy. They scored good points for the eggs. The bacon was okay and only comes with two pieces so I added a side of bacon to make a total of four pieces. The potatoes were overly salty. I wish they add under salted then and let patrons add the remaining salt to taste. The toast was good. They had pancakes on the menu so I added a side of one pancake. It probably would have tasted better if it were hot. The syrup was light in color, maplely and thin making me think it was REAL maple syrup. [Asked & answered, "Yes, it is real maple syrup."] Points scored! Another issue I had was extremely cold butter place on top of my lukewarm toast and cold pancake. I was hoping hot syrup would melt the butter on my pancake. No such luck as the syrup was COLD too. Will I try this place again? Maybe. I really loved Nashville and I am so happy that I was able to come here, not just once, but twice. And oh it was so worth it! Everyone here is so nice! The servers and cashiers were super friendly and helpful which was pretty consistent with Nashville in general. We ended up ordering some cold brew which was not too bitter, but full of caffeine. I stopped by Frothy Monkey for a v. late lunch on a Friday afternoon when it came up in a search for places with coffee, wifi, and food within walking distance of the hotel I stayed in during my visit to Nashville. I was kind of confused when I first walked in as it wasn't immediately clear that you order food and drinks at the counter until I noticed a stack of menus near the entryway and then when someone else came in got in line to wait for a barista. I ordered a very reasonably priced iced coffee and a salad, from a very polite man and someone else brought it out to me at a table near the front widow in about 15 minutes. I usually get hungry within a few hours after eating salads but the generous portion of grilled chicken and walnuts in the salad kept me full until late dinner. The greens and vinaigrette also tasted very fresh and I really enjoyed the toast that came with the salad. The coffee was less memorable, but still good. I didn't see a lot of people working on laptops in the downstairs area, but there were a couple people holding what seemed to be lunch meetings. If I return to Nashville, I would potentially come back to try other coffee drinks and brunch here. read more

Frothy Monkey is a pretty great downtown stop. Their food prices are a little more expensive than I can afford on a regular basis, so please understand that my review is limited. However, their cookies are probably some of the best in Nashville. Sweet, but flavorful. If you get there early enough, you might be lucky to find the day-old pastry bin out - all half price! I sometimes get a Cowboy cookie (oats, espresso, chocolate chips, butterscotch, rainbows, and other tasty bits) and eat it for breakfast. Not the healthiest, by any means, but delicious and makes a workday a little better. They serve Firepot chai, which is delicious if you are down with the cinnamon. If you aren't, I have not had a bad espresso drink from here. Their coffee is stronger than I prefer (not as strong as Bongo or some other local coffee shops, for which I am thankful), but I'm a total coffee wimp, so I don't blame Frothy. The seating is nice, and the atmosphere can be fun. The back room is a little dark, but I love going up the steps and by the window to sit and enjoy a pastry or get some work done. Be prepared to stand in line if you come right at lunch, but they're good at getting you through fairly quickly. I work downtown and have been going to this Frothy for years. I really like their food. But recently their sandwiches have decreased in quality. At first I assumed it was a fluke, but it's happened too many times, and today was the last straw. I ordered their Reuben (called Clyde) to go. I get back to my office to the photo attached. One slice of corned beef, barely a dusting of sauerkraut, and nothing else. No sauce. This is not a sandwich. I stopped at Frothy Monkey while I was in Nashville mostly because of a pair of youtubers I watch that used to live in Nashville and would rave about this place. I must say I was not disappointed. The place itself is really aesthetically pleasing, it had great service. I had the turtle latte and it was by far the best coffee I had in Nashville, it was sweet without going overboard which happens often with lattes with multiple syrups. I had the California which was great and filled me for the majority of the day. My husband had the Farm Breakfast and he absolutely loved the roasted potatoes. We got there at around 9am and we were able to get right in and didn't really have much of a wait to get our food. But when we left the line was out the door, so make sure to get there early. Everyone inside was very friendly, probably the friendliest people I've met in Nashville. I ordered the Royale sandwich to go, which came with some tortilla chips and salsa, which I found to be very random. The sandwich was standard. Turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato... but no bacon? I don't know why I expected some variation on a BLT from the Royale, but I was sorely mistaken. The salsa was DELICIOUS but um, what was up with those soggy chips? I found that to be pretty disappointing. Overall, an average experience for take out. Next time I'm skipping the sandwich and going for a coffee and pastry instead. read more
