Pretty dry, and needed some sort of condiment with it. 2/5 The grilled cheese with avo and egg was tasty. Your choice on how you want your egg done, which I opted for over easy. With all the oils going on (cheese, pesto mayo, avo), you'd think it be grease ball, but it wasn't. It also comes with salsa and chips. My impression for breakfast. I love a good cup of fresh coffee this tasted like sour cream was in it. I drank the cream to taste it and it was fine so just a strange tasting coffee wasn't old it was fresh and hot just strange taste! Paid extra for biscuit worst one ever and I love biscuits! We r from Atlanta and eat them whenever we eat breakfast out and this was dry and tasteless. Grits were fine but lumpy must have been sitting around or not stirred enough? Eggs over medium were not cooked at all inside so I sent them back I'm not eating raw eggs. Goofy the manager came over to school me on eggs.. um I eat eggs frequently eat in restaurants frequently and don't need to be told what over medium is then bring them back over hard on a saucer .. the rest of my breakfast was on a saucer so I asked for a big plate. Just to be accurate - it's 4.49 stars. We enjoyed our Saturday brunch at this downtown spot. It's a few blocks off Broadway which is a great thing. The stories we heard about long waits are likely true, however they have a waiting list online so kudos there. Also while we waited, we saw the nicest thing. A couple folks came up - they looked pretty distressed/economically unstable. The very nice lady (Roll Tide!) behind the counter came out - and clearly they were not coming in, but she did something unique for this day and age - she treated them like human beings. Asked if they wanted coffee, actually took their order and came back with 2 coffees and some food. It was a nice moment and great to see kindness. They have cool posters of taking care of one another and they actually do - actions being louder than words. We got seated and it's a cool vibe. Drinks and coffee are outstanding. Bloody Mary was great, Irish Coffee was equally well crafted. All I have to say is holy smoke!!! I got the Hummingbird latte and it blew my mind. Hands down the best coffee I had while in Nashville. Espresso, coconut milk substituted for steamed milk, house-made pecan sauce, cinnamon, banana syrup, and dried pineapple garnish. It sounds like a lot of extra stuff but man...it worked so well together and it was packed with flavors! I would get that drink every time if I can. read more

Wait: stood in a line for about five minutes and then easily seated. By the time I was leaving around 1230 there was a 15/20 min wait. Food: Bacon, Egg & Cheddar sandwich on the Everything bagel with the avocado spread. This was so freaking good. I thought it would be too much food but I got JUST to the edge of stuffed. The everything bagel seasonings paired well with the egg and avocado smash plus that bacon was DELICIOUS. Drinks: S'mores seasonal iced coffee. My server recommended this to me as I wanted iced sweet coffee. Damn, game changer. It was SO good. Service: What a great staff! Hostess was quick and respectful. Server gave great recommendations and manager checked on me while server was on a break. Even the guy that delivered my food to the table was fabulous. Cleanliness: I appreciated how clean the whole place was and they obviously had a system. They wiped down the tables after every guest and no food was on the floor, etc. even the bathrooms were clean. Bathroom: In the back by the kitchen - no code just the Vacant or In Use slider lock. Wifi: public network, no password but have to login via e-mail or FB Seating: patio, upstairs, right inside door, bar tops (four ish seats) Cost for Value: five stars for sure. So yes, intimate- you sit elbow2elbow & wait & order coffee & wait, & order food & wait & wait & wait. There's about ten employees, about a dozen tables & you're frozen in time. Too bad if you had plans b4 noon. It's delicious, friendly, fresh flowers dropping all their petals in the heat & they served a long long social line of to-go coffee orders. It's cute! And bonus, I DO KNOW the whole life of the table next to us AND the life of his 70-something client who's having intrusive thoughts & just won't retire.... his advice? shared for free? Update: I was reached out to by the owner and they handled the situation with grace and class, very apologetically. Good customer service! Stopped in to grab a salad - no wait at the register at 12:30pm on a Sunday, unlike a lot of reviewers. I had a small Gail salad which came to $10. It's greens, feta, avocado, and chicken. After a 30 minute wait (seriously) a salad came out without any chicken on it. I took it back up to the bar and inquired, and they said I ordered a different salad. Honestly I didn't care that much to just eat a different one, but the one they claimed I had was $5.50 because it didn't have premiums like chicken or avocado. I showed the credit card charge of $10+tax. The employee who I brought the issue with didn't seem to believe me, so she walked over to the stack of receipts without a word and started going through them. I followed, unsure of what to do. Anyway, the receipt proved I was correct and they remade the salad. No apology or anything, I actually felt pretty awkward the whole time asserting their mistake. They got 2 instead of 1 stars because they remade a large to make up for it. Anyway, the new salad had almost no feta and no walnuts on it, but at this point this situation is just silly and not worth spending more time on. Oh also the dressing spilled as the staffperson brought it over so it was overdressed unfortunately... and it was a balsamic dressing, not what was listed on the menu (lemon garlic). There aren't too many spots I feel comfortable killing some time downtown without the bar atmosphere. Frothy Monkey is that place where you can kill time and just hang out. I spotted a girl on her laptop at the bar with her suitcase, obviously just doing some work before a flight. I had come with a book with the pretense that I had about an hour to just read and have some refreshments. The employees at this location are very nice. I got a glass of the pinot grigio ($9) I also got the housemade hummus with veggies ($6). The hummus was yummy. Also I ended up having an Americana because this man accidentally ordered his drink hot instead of cold and then gave it to me to drink. The wine was okay and the coffee was fine but not really what I would've ordered but I drank it anyway. I do like the layout of this FM, there is a downstairs and an upstairs as well. First, the map location in yelp is wrong... It takes you to a residential neighborhood.. So I could not check in because even with me setting in the restaurant I was "to far away to check in"... Once we found the place.. almost at the corner and 5th ave and Church Street, downtown Nashville, we gave the hostess our name and waited... We were there early on Mother's day so we did not have to wait long.... Being from out of town, we did not know that they could not serve alcohol before 10, so our orders for mimosas went unfilled ... Our waiter did not tell us about the 10 o'clock rule until the 3rd time we asked about our drinks. .no big deal, wish we were told about the 10 o'clock rule when we placed our order... Anyway, I really wanted to try their loaded biscuits and chorizo gravy.. but after about 10 min after we ordered, our waiter came back and said they did not have the ingredients to make the biscuits and gravy breakfast dish.. disappointing myself and my son .... OK.. I had the Farm Breakfast. my son ordered their Huevos Rolandos with pork barbacoa, my daughter ordered the cheesy grit bowl and last but least my wife ordered Corned Beef + Potato Hash. We also ordered 4 additional biscuits because we all wanted to try them... but they came after we finished our meal... More on the biscuits latter... My Farm breakfast was good... nothing special ... eggs cooked correctly, sausage was tasty... cut fries, etc. were good... My wife said her meal was just OK, my son seemed to enjoy his, but my daughter did not like her Cheesy grits and she is a grit and a cheese lover... I tasted her meal.. it was bland... Our mimosas finally arrived after 10 along with only 3 of the four biscuits we had ordered ... the biscuits .... Biscuits were not good at all. I had very high expectations for Frothy Monkey after reading all of the reviews! We stayed locally about two blocks from this location so we were super excited to try it out for breakfast (even though our hotel had free breakfast). A bit of disappointment. The line was super long and they only had one register open (the other one was down apparently). We were expecting to wait so we weren't turned off by this. Once we got to the front we ordered the biscuit and gravy, side of bacon, omelet, a Bloody Mary and a coffee. My boyfriend drinks coffee daily but never anything "fancy". When he asked the man working the register about the difference between hand pour and regular, he had a snooty answer and made us feel very silly for even asking. It was not welcoming. We paid our $39 for breakfast and found a seat upstairs. The view from upstairs is comfy. You can look over and see the entire restaurant. Our drinks were brought to us upstairs by a "drink runner". The Bloody Mary was yummy but was very low on the alcohol content. It tasted of straight mix. My boyfriend did enjoy his "tap poured" coffee and it was served very hot. We could see our food being prepared and we saw it sit, completely finished, at the table behind the counter for a good 5 minutes. By the time it was brought to us it was actually cold. My cheese on the omelette wasn't melted anymore and the omelette wouldn't even stick close. I am sure this was a fluke incident as this is a very popular establishment in Nashville but our experience was very disappointing. We will not be back. Cheers! read more

Amazing food and adorable decor inside the Frothy Monkey! I loved this place and wish it was a chain. The seating makes it look like a barn and the open bar area is so cool. The menu is huge, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not only are they a coffee house but they serve liquor as well. They have coffee and other merchandise for sale along the side. We came here for breakfast so I got something light. Their oatmeal was anything but simple. It was fantastic!! The oatmeal had Rolled oats, brown sugar, steamed milk and then I added strawberries, raisins, almonds. So good I still think about it. I also got a seasonal coffee drink The Whiskey Maple - steamed milk + espresso + house-made spiced whiskey maple syrup + pink himalayan sea salt. If you love savory sweet things, you'll love this. As your sipping from the side of the mug, the salty foam will hit you first then the rush of sweet coffee with maple taste rushed in. I also got a chive and cheddar scone to go. Also very very tasty. We came on a Wednesday late morning and we got seated right away! Right away, the service is amazing. We were served by Audri and she was so sweet and helpful and extremely welcoming. I wanted the s'mores coffee but no coffee (I don't like espresso) and she was able to order it for me. It was literally the best hot chocolate (with S'mores flavoring) I have ever had! It was nice and peaceful, we were seated upstairs and had a nice view outside. I ended up ordering the omelette and it was delicious! Not life changing but I still finished every bite. It was busy, but service was great and relatively quick (20 minutes) to get our food and coffees. Lots of seating too. We both got the California - 2 eggs over sourdough bread, avocado and sprouts. It was good, but the only "gripe" was we thought it was avocado toast, which it's not. 1/4th of an avocado comes on the side. Not a deal breaker by any means... I got the Turtle Latte (house-made caramel + chocolate sauce + pecan syrup) and my girlfriend got The Hummingbird Latte (house-made pecan sauce + cinnamon + banana syrup).
