I love checking out the different Frothy Monkey locations around Nashville, because each one is so different. This one was very large, with plenty of seating. I found a small along the side of the building, but there was also plenty of street parking. After walking in I was greeted and told the hostess I was just there to work and drink coffee. She gave me a nice spot along the bar. Unfortunately their outlets in the bar were not working. But I was able to work for about an hour or so and had the best golden monkey latte, aka a tumeric latte. We came here on Easter for lunch after a long flight back in. Prior to this, we had only stopped in to grab coffee to-go. We sat outside, since we had our pup with us. It was a warm day but I still wanted to try the whiskey coffee drink. I don't know why I thought it would be cold? Anyway, I can't wait to get this again on a cool day. Foodwise, I got the kale Caesar salad with salmon and my boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was a bit cold, and my salad came undressed (which is fine, but it took a bit for our very soft spoken waiter to return to our table so I could request it). We loved the frothy monkey! I was visiting Nashville and a friend recommended it to me and I am so happy that she did. Upon my arrival the first thing that you notice is the parking. There aren't very many spaces but I was able to snag a park and then there is some street parking. Visually the place is gorgeous. I love the exposed brick + wood and black it gives the place a edgy warm feel! The bathroom was by far my favorite. They have this beautiful tile and a huge farm house sink and it smelled really nice too + extremely clean. Although it is a coffee shop they also serve food. So you order at the counter take a number and they bring your food out. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, and the 2 egg breakfast as well as their rosemary latte and everything was delicious. I paid about $20 for everything. I want to rave about their apple juice it's absolutely delicious. The place has a lot of light too. The staff was great as well. This is a very trendy place. We arrived around 9 am for breakfast and it was busy but not crazy. There was no line at the counter to order. By the time the last person in our party arrived, the line had grown quite a bit. Our coffee was out pretty quick, but the food took about 20-30 min. We didn't mind. I had the peanut butter latte and it was amazing! My husband's coffee was good also. Coffee refills are 75 cents. The food was very good! Guys! This location is like a hidden little gem. We came late on a weeknight though, so I guess that's not a gage of how busy they are. I love the building and style decor, it's rustic, and simple. The waitstaff are wonderful, super helpful, kind, and not snobby. Exactly what you hope for, tip them big! I ended up with the veggie burger that came with some potatoes. My husband got their version of a club sandwich with chips and salsa. The burger was good, but not mind-altering like I had hoped. I was a little disappointed. We went to the location in the Nations. It is new and large. On a mid week afternoon it was packed. Lots of millennials on their computers, seeming to be working whilst sipping. It was late afternoon so we thought we would just get a snack. We had the house made salsa and chips. We devoured that, so we ordered their unique chicken salad on artisan sourdough bread. I try to avoid bread.. but I have to say this was truly exceptional. Not something I think I have ever said about sliced bread. But believe it. And the chicken salad was right up my alley. Minimal mayo, letting the flavors do the shining. Hubby got a Belle Meade bourbon and enjoyed reviewing their cocktail list. I got a hot chocolate that was divine. Definitely not the Swiss Miss variety! I'm so glad to know the bigger picture on Frothy Monkey now. We shall return! One negative: we had to circle for nearly 10 minutes to find a parking space. Ordered two teas. They took forever to get there and we're overstepped, and thus bitter. Ordered two breakfasts. Very long wait to get there. Eggs were over cooked and rubbery, despite ordering them very soft. They took mine back and redid it as scrambled - better but still overcooked. While I do recommend them for coffee and pastries, I definitely do NOT recommend them for breakfast. read more

This location of frothy monkey is a decent spot to grab a bite and a coffee or alcoholic drink but the service leaves much to be desired. I used to come here a lot but haven't been back in months because of two encounters with rude staff. On the last occasion, they served me clearly burnt food. Like so burnt that I couldn't even bite into it because it was so hard, black and dried out. I tried to take a couple bites around the burnt parts and decided it was just not edible so I kindly sent it back, didn't ask for anything else and just asked that it please be taken off my bill. The server said they couldn't remove it from my bill, they could only bring me a replacement. But... I didn't want a replacement meal because I had to leave soon and was just grossed out from the dried out burnt meal I was just served. We literally went back and forth with the server for 10min and he REFUSED to take it off my bill. I was so confused.. I've never had that happen before. Eventually we asked to speak to the manager who was also very rude and reluctantly took it off the bill "just this time." They were just insisting on serving me more food I didn't want. It would be nice if they had more of a order and sit down to enjoy area though as it feels to formal and less casual of a coffee shop environment where you have to sit down and formally order an item. I love this place! It is clean and bright, with plenty of seating at tables, the bar, booths... I've seen several people on dates. And the staff is super friendly and helpful. I meet a friend here after work at least once a week. My friend likes the 2-for-1 wines during happy hour. I enjoy the teas and food - which I feel are priced very reasonably for the quality and quantity. The chicken with grits is delicious, as is their salad with avocado, walnuts, and feta. I notice another comment saying "hipsters galore". I actually think this place has very few hipsters compared to most spots in Nashville (which is part of the reason I like it!). This was our first visit to the frothy monkey--it was actually recommended to us by our neighbors. We had a short wait and the staff was all very friendly. The environment was also nice. A little busy, but not loud or packed by any stretch. Enough to allow us to hear each other and have a sense of privacy as well. The latte I got was absolutely beautiful and also quite delicious. My husband also really enjoyed his hot apple cider. The house potatoes were amazing and very well seasoned, as was the sausage. I was a little disappointed by the pancakes though. They fell apart really easily and didn't have a lot of flavor, and the syrup was more of a liquid almost like sugar water, but I finished them for sure. Let me start by I've been going to Frothy Monkey on 12th for years now. I've been multiple times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At times just to work and have a drink (could be beer, wine, or coffee) as they have all. So my review may be a bit bias to their 12th location. First the West Nashville location is gorgeous and bright. Great location for groups and or getting worked done if you need a remote place to hang out. The menu is the exact same as their other location. Parking can get busy during busy times i.e. lunch. On this particular day I went for lunch. My colleague and I ordered the same salad. We were asked if we wanted a half or full size salad. We both went full size. When our meals came out we both looked at each other and thought is this just an appetizer? The portion was very tiny. Thank goodness for the slice of toast to help, but I was surprised as I've eaten at FM several times and never had a portion issue. Maybe it's their salads, which this was my first time ordering. Outside of price, it tasted just fine, but for price and portion, I would recommend going with it. The vibe is completely different from the 12th location. The 12th has this rustic, dark, hippy feel, and at least for me makes me feel innovative. The west location is definitely brighter, roomier, but is different. I'll definitely be going back and updating my review if needed. I'd recommend FM. read more
