This is strictly a review regarding the donuts. More than one star because the place is clean, the music was all right and the people were efficient and pleasant enough for a Labor Day morning. We won't be returning though because the donuts were lacking. They were all gorgeous and there were plenty of them, but the execution...? We purchased: Three Bismark (PB&J, Blackberry, Rootbeer float), the Butterfinger yeasted, a maple bacon bar, and an apple fritter. They were dense, not airy and tasted more of baked white bread than a fried, yeasted dough. The actual donut flavors smacked of over the counter repurpose. Meaning, they bought bacon bits in a bag, did nothing to them, and added them to the top of the maple bar. Pretty sure, it was store-bought jam (and peanut butter) on the Blackberry and PB&J Bismarck... Even the Butterfinger tasted... Hollow and metallic almost, perhaps it had been stored uncovered in a refrigerator? To paraphrase a grand lady from a well known British show... "That wasn't worth the calories." I appreciate the effort, but this place seems to prefer style and consistency over quality. If they have their crowd, I'm happy for them. Just not for me. read more

I got to try a little of quite a few with the old fashioned being a little lacking in flavor for me, but the Apple fritter being one of the best I've ever had! The donuts were just ok. I paid much more than I would for grocery store donuts but got what felt like the same quality of product. The ambiance was cute though and I didn't know they served breakfast so I might go back to try that. But as far as donuts are concerned. Picked up some donuts from this place. The space is very clean and modern, but it feels a little sterile. I'd rather see more in the display case then they had. It almost felt as the display was arranged artistically and in a minimalist fashion. Just put more on display! Come on! We want donuts, not art. Also, we didn't see any cupcakes when we were there. Maybe they had sold out or they don't always make those. The donuts themselves are quite creative and nicely presented. But it is form over substance. The taste and quality aren't quite there. The donuts don't seem the freshest, but then we bought these after lunch. However, they also are much too heavy and dense. Great location and open space inside. I have only gotten the breakfast food here and it's pretty solid. However, I don't wake up on mornings saying "I can't wait to get my breakfast burrito at Frost!" BUT this establishment gets an extra star because their donuts are something I do rave about. They are so fluffy and chewy at the same time! It's so satisfying I always buy a box to take home when I'm in the area. My favorite is the classic maple bar, but you cant go wrong. read more

Got two dozen for the office. I've always drove past here so always have been curious to try for the past year. The inside of the shop is very clean and beautifully designed. The doughnuts and macaroons are placed behind the glass displays and they look great. Just makes me wonder how often they rotate their stock. I just got the dozen box of doughnuts but may try macaroons next time. The doughnuts tasted ok. Too dough-y and kind of tasted under cooked. The maple bar frosting could have been dipped better - I was expecting the frosting to be a bit "more" not in terms of quantity but more decorative and pleasing to look at. The frosting was extremely sweet which is a good call on the small amount slathered on the top, but maybe they should dilute the frosting so it also creates a more "drip" look instead of an extremely concentrated area of sugar. I also had the cruller. Contrary to the maple, it was not very sweet which was fine with me. Tasted okay but I wasn't too impressed, since I've heard such great things. All in all the doughnuts were decent but pricey. I'm not sure if I'd make it a weekly or even a monthly trip as I feel like the price and the doughnuts aren't worth it IMHO. After finishing our breakfast there was an overwhelming MEH, heard around the house. As someone who looks for ingredients to menu items I was sorely disappointed that I couldn't enjoy my breakfast potatoes because the recipe online doesn't say they're absolutely smothered in onions and peppers. I'm allergic to raw onions and they were not listed as ingredients on the menu. The breakfast sandwich made with a doughnut was.... PLAIN. A doughnut sandwich, plain?? Yup. Coulda made a better tasting one at home not to mention they used cheddar when the menu said American. Yes, you know there is a difference. Even though I am not much of a donut person, it is worth the occasional trip to get a donut at Frost. I had my first taste at a potluck when I spotted a red velvet donut left in the box. This wasn't like a traditional donut at all: very cakey and decadent. Besides the red velvet donut, I'm not too crazy with the rest of their cakey donuts. I recently ordered their white chocolate truffle and pecan donuts and those didn't taste anything special for me. Frost has their version of the cronut, called a frossant. Personally, I was not blown away with it. It just tasted like a regular glazed donut in my opinion. Besides the red velvet, I really like their traditional donuts. My favorite is their chocolate frosted Bavarian cream donut. They do not skimp on the cream at all and the texture of the donut is soft, on the lighter side and just perfect for me. This review is for my experience during Covid. Husband and I visited Frost on June 7 in the afternoon, and was surprised how unsanitary and unserious they were about the situation. When we walked in, two guys were working, one by the donuts, one working the register and with drinks. The donut guy wore a cloth mask, with his nose out, the register/barista guy, wearing nothing on his face, helping a family with kids picking out macaroons and talking all over their food. He was not six or even three feet away from them. I believe this is a violation of the states's rule, and I was appalled. This is a place where you sell food and drinks. I hope the management is seeing this. The barista guy was the usual guy who works in the afternoon for a couple of years. I would not go back again during the pandemic and would tell my friends not to go either. Later in the same afternoon, I went to 85 degrees in Lynnwood. Every employee was wearing quality mask, gloves, and they controlled the crowd, 10 people in the store only. They defiantly put Frost to shame. I think Frost donut is the most famous desert place in MC town center for many people. They have been around for a long time, and I've been coming here once in a while for about 8 years. I love the new bigger store. It is spacious, clean, and the display of donuts and sweets are just beautiful. However, to be honest, the taste of their donuts are just average to me. I've tried many flavors, and I've never felt any of their donuts were outstanding. I had the maple bacon bar today. This is usually my favorite flavor. Again, I was not impressed. I know they have them there, but I did not think they would be tricked out like the flavors at Frost. I was wrong on that count. If some doughnut maker in Seattle would like to make green tea doughnuts, please do! I decided to get a variety. And they have plenty of that. So many flavors to choose from. Daily and doughnut selections offered on special days of the week. Many are glorified, but there are a few that are traditional. My dozen included the Smokey Bacon Maple Bar, Red Velvet, Aloha Fritter, Island Bliss, Lemon Bismarck, Aztec Chocolate, Peanut Butter Perfection, Bourbon Pecan and Blueberry Pancake. Missing a few names, but you get the picture. Lots of tasty offerings. Of these, most of these were good. Especially the filled ones like the Lemon Bismarck and Peanut Butter Perfection. And oh my gosh about the Smokey Bacon Maple Bar in which the bacon takes center stage. Worth getting multiples of this one. The Aloha Fritter is also worth a look. Instead of apple, this includes pineapple. Supposedly this has the elements of a pineapple upside down cake. The only one that I did not really like was the Red Velvet which was not very moist. Most of the stash that I brought to Japan that I had not already gobbled down were of the cake doughnut variety. Even though they took a 6000 mile journey, they were still were quite good. Though it is best to eat them on the day of for best freshness. For a doughnut experience that is far from ordinary, Frost is your one and only place to go in the Seattle area for this. read more

Frost Doughnuts is always my number 1 choice for doughnuts. The only way I can think of describing their doughnuts is that they are more refined than most doughnuts shops. The flavors are thought out, and it truly shines in their presentation. I would even go as far as describing some of their doughnuts as being pastry like. Every time I come here, I find a longer line each time. Don't let the semi empty cases scare you, they are constantly making fresh doughnuts and all you have to do is put on a happy face and ask nicely. I strongly recommend the following: bacon maple bar, salted caramel, white chocolate raspberry, banana sundae apple fritter, blueberry pancake with syrup, and their french imperials are to die for. **COVID UPDATE** Unfortunately lowering my rating to zero stars due to safety concerns. Actually went into the shop today after ordering numerous times on Postmates and UberEats and being overly impressed with the precautions being taken (sealed bags for my orders). I was shocked when I noticed NUMEROUS employees that had masks on but were wearing them tucked under their chin and not a single person wearing gloves. I reached out via private message on Facebook to try and privately voice my concern and the message was looked out but not responded to. They currently have no way of contacting them on their website. EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK since they obviously have no real plan in place to ensure the safety of their guests or the food they serve. Located in the Mill Creek Town Center, this place is near all the shops, market, etc. It can get busy but there's parking all over the place so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a spot. I love walking around the area and even using the trail for a light jog. I usually go here to treat my siblings and myself to some donuts or macaroons when we want something small and sweet. I'm not a donut person but my brothers enjoy their donuts a lot. I enjoy their macaroons! Some favorites are the fruity pebbles, strawberry cheesecake, and pistachio flavors. I also like how they have a tiny nook for you to help yourself with some water, utensils, etc. The service here is very quick and they're super friendly and helpful. After a long swim we decided to stop at Frost to destroy any health benefit we had received from our laps. I'm not sure whether it was worth it, but it was definitely delicious. I got an Apple Fritter and my friend got a Maple Bar. I will say that my Apple Fritter was a bit chewy on the outside. Just a bit. I'm not sure if it was fresh or not, it wasn't right out of the fryer, that's for sure. And yet. It was still very delicious. Frosts' Apple Fritters are probably the best in town, they're full of apple and cinnamon flavor and it hit the spot. My friend loved her Maple Bar and said it was very fresh. (I kind of think it's hard to screw up on a Maple Bar though). I got an Americano with cream and it was a bit bitter, but still good. I really like this donut shop because it has delicious donuts - try their maple bacon bar, I think it's the best around. The shop is spacious with a lot of seating, bright, open and very clean. Next time we decide to negate an hour of lap swimming with a stop at a donut shop, it will again be at Frost. read more

TL/DR: Frost is letting their product quality fall which is almost always a permanent change to an establishment. I'm concerned the Frost of old is gone. For years Frost has been our standard of what a donut shop should aspire to be, in particular their maple bacon bar. Unfortunately over the past year they have compromised the quality of their product to manage cost. I understand needing to raise your prices in this economy, but as soon as an establishment decides that quality of their product is optional then they have caused a permanent change. Once a business has accepted that they produce a lower quality product there is no motivation for that quality to recover. Customers that seek quality will go elsewhere and the remaining customers will be shopping on price so they will not reward any increase in quality (and the associated increased cost). read more

I really enjoyed going to frost doughnuts. I have gone on a couple of occasions, but what really made this trip better than the past trip was the fact that I did not have to go early to get their Bacon Maple Bars. They are probably my favorite doughnut there. Frost groups their doughnuts into 3 different categories, they have their classic, deluxe, and the evolved. I have only tried their evolved doughnuts because I feel like I can get a regular maple bar anywhere. I think it's around $1.89 for 1 evolved. I ended up getting a half dozen so I could try out the many different kinds of doughnuts there. I enjoyed the coffee they had there. Their coffee was pretty light, unlike the very roasted Pike Place blend from Starbucks. I think the only downside is how addictive they are. I wish I could go back for 2nds. read more
