The highlight of a recent trip we took to the Belgrade Lakes area (and then off to Waterville for dinner). This newish restaurant, in what will someday soon be a beautiful new hotel, was so delicately designed. The sun was setting through the windows in all the right places, while fire pits were started up outside with comfy chairs for whiling away the evening. The FOOD was fantastic. Since it was impossible to settle on just 2 apps, we decided to go with 4 apps and one main for dinner. While everything we ordered was 100% Highlights include: the tuna crudo the lettuce wraps the short rib app the street taco app, AND the ricotta cheesecake We had a most wonderful meal at Front and Main. The service was spectacular and after dinner, when we were hanging for a bit outside by the fire pits, we met the restaurant manager, who was super friendly and engaging. When I need a day out of Rhode Island; I tend to make it a point to come up to Front & Main. A 248 mile drive (because my toll money is going to the cheesecake) I stick to my go-to's of the poutine and the white chocolate cheesecake. Because as someone who grew up eating poutine out in the Midwest and Canada., it's extremely hard to find a good one in southern New England..... especially gluten free. Now the cheesecake; everyone who knows me knows I rave on this slice of Heaven, and it makes the almost 12 hour round drive worth every minute so much it barely makes it back for my chefs to try so they understand my addiction. This cheesecake is quite literally the reason I survived my final chefs table on spa and wellness cuisine. SANITY in food! Service, I can't say much, I'm typically pushed behind and not seeming as important as other customers the few times I've been in, and I'm not sure as if it's because I look extremely young for my age and I'm sitting at the bar alone or they assume I'm not going to tip. My one issue that irks me is that the few times I've been in and used my card there's been an increased charge on my card rather than the amount on the receipt with no knowledge of a service fee? My husband and I went here for our anniversary. The menu and scenery was what I was looking for. When we entered we were kindly greeted by manager/owner(?) I ordered the Caesar salad to start and it was delicious, the best one I have ever had, no lie, and from that point on I knew we were going to enjoy the rest of our order. My husband had the ribeye-PERFECTLY done-and I had the monkfish. I am a little more adventurous, and it paid off, I loved it!The frozen key lime pie and the budino for dessert was THE perfect ending (along with my Baileys and coffee, which was somehow made better than I ever had) to a special day. The price is above average, BUT the quality was above average. It sounds too good to be true, right? Well it is. One thing that we would have to say that we didn't like were the chairs. My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic happy hour this week at Front and Main. The casual bar scene was buzzing with various discussions and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. We sat at the bar and were immediately served water while we made our selections. My martini was served icy cold and perfectly mixed. My wife's wine was complex and delicious. We decided to split the street tacos and Barbacoa Fries. The street tacos were filled with tender carnitas. The fries were the best thing I've eaten in a while; I highly recommend them. I am trying to wrap my head around the idea of this restaurant being considered one of the best in the state. To say that my meal was disappointing, is the understatement of the year. To begin with, my Caesar salad was dull & completely tasteless. The salmon that was served on the side was enough to feed a Barbie doll. My friend had the chop chop salad which had been bathed in dull dressing. The server recommended the french fries, which were also dull. I should have just gone next-door to the Portland Pie company. Very disappointing. The chairs are so uncomfortable - too deep with nowhere to hang your jacket or purse. There are no prices on the drink menus. We were completely surprised by the cost of our drink since there is no transparency in pricing. The service was ridiculously slow. It was not crowded and we struggled to get any attention. Dined at Front and Main in Waterville this past weekend to celebrate my 60th birthday. We were greeted with kindness by a young woman at the front desk, Cassidy, also our waitress for the evening. Every course was superb with a beautiful presentation that matched the flavors of each dish with delicacy. With a recommendation, I enjoyed the local salmon entree, and wow! Cooked to perfection. .My husband and I have dined at many high-end restaurants but our waitress here left a lasting impression on us with her attentiveness and warm-heartedness. Despite the business of the restaurant, she made us feel as if we were the only diners in the building! She made my birthday dinner one to remember... The only reason we made reservations for Valentine's Day was bc of the Korean short ribs being so highly rated. I haven't found any good ones since moving back to Maine from Texas. We arrived and the menu on yelp is not even close to accurate, no Korean short ribs and the kind waiter offered the Korean shrimp... sweet to offer but ribs and shrimp are very different. There was not a thing on the menu I wanted my spouse to spend money on. We ended up leaving and ate at a tavern nearby that I highly suggest. People with severe anxiety check the menu beforehand. The two of us went there for breakfast, cost was just under $45.00 (with one soda and one coffee) not including the tip. We did not like the food but the place was elegant. I asked if the toast was sweet and the waitress said she did not think so. Everything was very sweet except for the eggs and potatoes. Without a doubt, Waterville has needed a restaurant like this for quite sometime. It's in a good location although parking is iffy. The menu is great, atmosphere inside is wonderful and the service was really good too. My husband made reservations for us for my birthday and I had the best time! Stopped on the way to Bar Harbor. Drinks were on point , lettuce wraps were amazing. I had a short rib which was unlike any I've had but not in a bad way, it was excellent. My bride had rye veggie cakes and there was nothing left on her plate. Pineapple upside-down cake was amazing. And the patio is a great spot. Did I mention the great service? Worth a stop! read more

Was invited to a sponsored dinner at the restaurant, the event coordinator seemed to go out of her way to limit our menu, (including telling us only half of us could have chocolate selection for dessert?!), served us cold entrees and offered us one appetizer. The company was paying $125./person and ...you could have a miniature caesar salad...or go without. The guest speaker was a nationally known doctor and researcher (and magazine editor) and it was both embarrassing and humiliating to be treated this way. The entire experience felt pejorative, it was disgraceful. I'm not sure what we were being punished for, but...never again. read more

We were able to be seated as walk-ins in the bar area and informed they had only been open for 2 weeks. The atmosphere is modern but comfortable. The menu had a nice mix of comfort foods and local seafoods. We had the ahi for starters and our party tried the scallops, salmon, cod and ribeye entrees. All of us enjoyed our meals. The food was cooked well, with attractive plating and reasonable (but not excessive) serving size. We were especially excited about the dessert menu because everything on it was gluten free!! The wait staff was efficient and attentive, and the manager checked on us and all the guests several times to insure all was well. They seemed very busy so I'd recommend calling for reservations. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, the staff was attentive and helpful, knowledgeable about their restaurant and the menu. Drinks good but when the small glass is 1/3 to 3/4 full at $13.00, it's a bit offensive. Just saying. I had the red curry veggie dish with rice.. Tasty! My guests had a hamburger (delicious) and the other fried chicken. In total, a starter, 3 entrees, one dessert and 6 drinks total, with tip was $240.00. Waterville needed something more than a pub-style restaurant or a chain, and Front/Main delivers in a big way. The entrance is on Main Street and there appears to be parking on the back side of the building though it's unmarked. The bar/lounge area was well lit with windows galore, which allowed us to watch the first "snowstorm" of winter while we ate. I arrived early and was seated in a small, under lit dining area close to the restrooms and in view of the kitchen, both of which were distracting. There's was a room being used for a larger party off that area, and around the corner was a high top seating 14 comfortably for a birthday. Our server, Bri, was attentive, very personable and my daughter was gushing about her. I have to admit, she was likely one of the best servers I ever had, the kind for whom you are almost compelled by forces unseen and known only to the cosmos to invite to sit down and join you. We hated to leave. As I waited for my daughter to arrive, I had a gin & tonic from the bar and ordered the chicken wings. Both were delicious. Not too fancy, but unusual enough to be worth noting. Plenty of conversation with the ever attentive Bri as well. My daughter arrived and settled on the scallops on Bri's recommendation, which was spot on. They came with Brussels sprouts which were delicious. The potatoes were slightly underdone but nothing worth complaining about. My daughter is not much of a drinker but asked for a drink that tasted great but one in which she could not taste the alcohol. Bri recommended a Sex on the Beach, which was a bit awkward for a dad no matter the age of either party. My daughter loved it! The meal was great, my daughter had the cheesecake for dessert and admitted it was superior to her mother's which was the best she ever had up to that point. I look forward to staying here when the hotel itself opens but for now, I am delighted with what I experienced last night and can't wait to go back. read more
