I am so very very happy and Dr Chen is not even done working her miracles yet. I have now been to all 3 Fromer Eye Centers and I must say that everyone who works for Dr Fromer is a pleasure to meet. The receptionists, the technicians and even Dr. Fromer himself are all the nicest, friendliest most approachable group of medical professionals I have ever encountered. Dr Chen operated on my left eye on 09/13 and put in a permanent lens and I CAN SEE WITHOUT GLASSES. Sometimes I have to close my right eye but that's okay because she is fixing that one on 9/22. She is amazing. She chose exactly the right lens for me. I'm so excited that I don't have to wear glassed for the first time in 20 years. Waited 1.5 hours for a full exam, only to be told that they didntt have time to do a full exam. Really? after waiting that long? there were at least 4 doctors present. I insisted and had the most rushed exam ever, so much so that I do not trust the eyeglass prescription I was given. This is not service, I arrived on time and waited patiently because they were clearly busy. Time to look for a new place. read more

BE CAREFUL! Insurance scams? You decide. This review is a little old, but still relevant. Whenever I go for new glasses I think of these people. And it still pisses me off. About 3 years ago I went to the office in FH complaining about floaters. Before I even saw a doctor the receptionist badgered me for a co-pay. I insisted I do not have one(says "0" co-pays right on my ID card), but I paid it anyway. After a couple of hours, I finally saw Ms. Fromer, I think. (Later Mark Fromer would refer to this woman as his wife or sister). She examined me and said nothing could be done for the floaters, but that I did have a partially torn retina that would require laser surgery. I made the appointment and returned a couple weeks later. On Surgery day I saw Mark Fromer. He apparently didn't realize I was a follow-up for surgery, and he examined me as a brand new patient. He checks me out, and says everything looks great. THEN he pulls my file, and says "Oh, you saw my wife(or sister, I really can't remember) last month about a torn retina". He examines me again, and says "OH THERE IT IS!". I did NOT believe him AT ALL. He said he could have me in and out of surgery in less than an hour, and it wouldn't cost me a dime. I said "No Thanks". He then excused himself, went in the hall with his assistant(tall black man), and had a tense, whispered conversation. They both come back in the room. That's when the real high pressure scare tactics were applied. He said I really need to reconsider the seriousness of my situation, It won't heal on it's own. He also said he couldn't let me out of the office in this condition without signing a non-liability waiver because I could wake up the next morning blind(That's funny, Ms. Fromer had no problem rescheduling me a few weeks before). He was not very convincing, and seemed almost panicked to not let me out or the chair. I got up and walked right out the door. I next went to two dedicated retinologists. Both said my retinas were fine, and that any surgeries would have been unnecessary and detrimental due to inherent and unavoidable scarring. One Doctor examined me for well over an hour with every tool and scope imaginable, and even put video of my retinas on a 50 inch big screen. Perfect. Now I can't say for sure what really happened in this situation. A pair of simple misdiagnoses by two different incompetent doctors in the same office? Something more nefarious (insurance scams)? I don't know. What I do know, is that there is nothing wrong with my eyes. Years later, I still haven't "gone blind overnight". So anybody reading this far, BE CAREFUL. Always get second opinions. It's worth the extra time, and your insurance company will always pay for them. read more

I meet Dr Mark Fromer in June 2021, I was being evaluated for a cataract at the age of 48 apparently I've had it for years that I was told by Dr Choi (bayside office) (also great) that it was very large ... so that means many other eye doctors have just brushed it off cause I go every year to the eye Doctor ...Dr Fromer office did such an excellent job running several test on my eyes, I've never had such an evaluation before and I've been going to the eye doctor since I was 6yrs old ... finally when I saw Dr Fromer (park ave office) he gave me my options... and left NO question unanswered booked my surgery (no long wait either).. fast forward my surgery went well ... it's amazing how the eyes work .. I'm seeing so much better then Ive seen in years ... Dr. Fromer his colleges and assistants are great all very knowledgeable ... I recommend highly!!! Waited for three hours on a Tuesday to see a doctor only to find out they don't keep Acuvue in stock for trial lenses- had to come back on a Friday to pick up lenses- I've been waiting over an hour and still waiting to pick up trial lenses. (In the office now) They have "technicians" cart you from one room to another to do tests- while they smack their lips with gum and talk incessantly with each other in Spanish. Then have you wait for a doctor to see you- and you see the doctor for all of 5 minutes. I feel like I'm on an assembly line at a factory in this doctors office. Switching to another doctor ASAP. Never been to a doctors office and waited so long. read more

**Well let me begin by simply saying " I DO NOT recommend this place to NO ONE" (This is my 1st and hopefully my last time writing a review on a doctor and office)** This may have been my son's 4th time there. The 1st 2 visits were with a great doctor name Rebecca Shields, then it was changed to Dr Elsa Sheerer because she is a pediatric specialist doctor. Well, the last visit which was yesterday 02/17/18 @ 12:15pm was soo ridicolous and extremely unprofessional. We arrived 15 min early, AGAIN 15 MINUTES EARLY....for pretty much nothing. My son was seen 4 HOURS LATER, yes you read correctly 4 HOURS LATER. And that was because I got up to tell the girl in the front desk a few words after seeing that 2 of their pt that came in 1 hr after us was seen before my son (Yes, you are reading correctly, again) My son got skipped not once but twice. How crazy is that. Finally, my son was called in. Do you think that "Dr Sheerer and her staff" apologized for the LONG WAIT and the fact that we were skipped. NO, no explanation no nothing.......and the best part was...he was seen with her for less then 5 minutes. A 4 HR WAIT JUST TO BE SEEN FOR NO LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. To then tell me " We will see you in 6 months" after. Do you know how fustrated and pissed I am and not only me but my son as well because he was hungry from waiting soo long. This was soo dissapointing, mind you I am a manager at an Optometrist office, the reason for going to this place was because my boss referred me here to keep an eye on my sons large optic nerves. It is my belief that we are living in a time where people are VERY self-centered. It's all about 'me, me me. now, now, now.' I say that because I read the prior reviews and I am apalled at how negative these people can be for wait times. I called almost in tears because I did not know how severe my condition was until I saw an optometrist who said I needed a retina specialist STAT. The receptionist was so compassionate, so patient that I felt at ease. Yes, when I got there, i had to wait. But it's not like people were lollygagging and NO patients were being called! I had so many different tests, all the employees were professional, courteous and efficient. The only thing I would say is that it'd be nice to have an introduction from every tech. Each time I was called, I wondered if I was seeing the doctor. Some are really young so you can tell they're NOT, but for most others you just don't know. I asked every tech I saw because I need to know. Anyway, finally saw the specialist and while I'm not as in love with her as I am with the front desk staff (they were just all so nice), she is a good doctor. *THAT IS WHAT MATTERS.* Had my first of several injections the following week and again, everyone was nice. So what if you have to wait a while, these people are helping save your vision! read more

Recently I visited Fromer Eye Centers with my son and I have to say I have never been more impressed. Everyone from the front desk to the doctor was amazing. They give you an appointment, but you are never seen at that time. Extremely long wait times, what's the point of an appointment. They need to book appointments appropriately, and stop overbooking. If this location is recommended to you by your eye doctor. Go somewhere else, unless you have plenty of time to waste. Finally finished at4:53pm. Found out they were backed up from this morning. This information should be given when you show up at your scheduled time.Although the wait time is excessive , the providers are professional and try very hard to see all the patients in a timely manner ( it's just the number of patients waiting to be seen that slows the process down-stop overbooking). Dr. Saddler was excellent at explaining what was going on with my eyes and the need for follow-up. If you book an appointment at this location bring food, something to drink, and a good book. You will be waiting for a very long time. Great eye care but long waiting time. That's the reason I cannot rate it any higher read more

I know, the waiting times are rough. I could pick at some other issues, too. Forget about all that. Dr. Mark Fromer is a gifted ophthalmologist. Having worn glasses since third grade, I had a head start with poor vision and believe me, things don't get any better as you age. That's why I needed the best. He's also a gifted surgeon. I finally gave in and let him fix things, and now I have 20 / 20 distance vision without glasses. Un-be-liev-a-ble. Still gotta wear reading glasses though. Big deal. Called at the last minute to make an appointment, (having never been before), and was given an appointment immediately. The women at the desk, Kurena, Marina, and Gigi were gracious, patient and so helpful, especially due to the fact I arrived without the "dreaded" referral. They did all the leg work for me, got me the referral and in I went to see Taz for my eye exam, ( a soon to be ophthalmologist), he didn't rush me, was through and efficient and very nice, then Dr. Fromer came in the exam room. They discussed my issue, Dr. Fromer was excellent, not an alarmist and very nice. Good Karma all around. I will continue to be a patient there and recommend the practice highly. read more

I received PRK on April 22nd performed by Dr. Fromer and can say hands down its one of the best decisions I've made so far in my life. I went from vision of about 20/400 to 20/20 by my 3 month check up. PRK is a long and committed recovery process leaving patients with many questions. Ridiculously long wait times. I've been here twice for a chalazion problem - the first appt, I waited 3 hours. They had no explanation for their long wait time. There were a lot of people in the waiting room but there were also lots of doctors seeing patients so I'm not sure why there was a long wait. For the next follow up appt, I asked for the first appt in the morning, hoping that I'd have minimal waiting time - I waited 1 hr. My husband also went for another appt and he ended up waiting 4.5 hrs. This place is a joke. We're never going back here again! read more

I scheduled an appointment trying to be as exact as possible about what examinations I required, but the receptionist failed to comprehend the intentions of my request, leading to work being done that I didn't want, and a bill handed to me that I certainly didn't want. After trying to work it out with the office, I found a lot of sympathy but not a lot of flexibility. I've been a patient here for a few years but enough is enough! Why? I called to make an appointment and was put on hold for twenty and thirty minutes. This leads me to the conclusion that the workers are totally incompetent. By the way, they overbook appointments so be prepared to wait between three to five hours. If you dare mention this obvious fact to one of the "workers" at the desk expect rudeness or apathy as their customary response. Find another eye doctor with a more professional staff. My entire family and I are very fond of FEC. For my son, it was his very first time visiting this location after I had previously taken him to another doctor in which they had no patience with him especially while attempting dilation. I mean, no one likes "yucky smelling liquid" poured into their eyes (as my son stated), but at FEC, they worked so well with him. They distracted him and used techniques to help get him through the entire process so easily. Needless to say, he enjoyed his visit and he went from thinking that glasses made him look "weird" to thinking they now make him look "cool"! For us, it was a huge success thanks to Dr. Graeber and the technicians who assisted in the process that day! read more

I had the appointment for my daughter today at 11:30 am. I had to pick her up from school by 10:30 am so I can get there ahead of time. I signed my daughters name at the front desk at 11:08 am...way ahead of time. They call her at 11:50 am! The technician gives her eye drops so the eyes dilate and tells us she will call us in 20 min. That 20 min never arrived. I sat there until my daughter started getting uneasy blurry eye due to the eye drops earlier. At 1:10 pm I get up and ask the front desk, how much longer???????????????? Receptionist said, you are next. OK... I waited again until 1:35 pm and finally tell her I am done with it. Earlier they made me sign a paper where I had to sign a paper for some eye exam that cost $15.00 (they said my insurance doesnt cover it) I told them not to bill me for it because they did not perform any eye exam. Utterly ridiculous!! they had no explanation why I had to wait 2 hours+ for nothing. Very bad service. What is the point of 11:30 am appointment when I am not going to be seen for the next 2 hours. I am never going there. My time is too precious to be wasted. read more

I was going to an ophthalmologist when my vision started getting extremely blurry in one eye. he diagnosed me as having weak eye muscles and sent me home to do eye exercise for a month, In which time my vision got worse. after 2 months of doing all kinds of tests and not finding anything , he recommended I try another doctor and sent me to Fromer eye center. That was the first right thing he did! Dr. Mark Fromer was a God send. He took just one look at me on my first visit and diagnosed me with macular degeneration and was bleeding behind the eye. That was about 10 years ago, and that's how long I have been under his Professional care. If it wasn't for this great doctor and surgeon I would have lost most of my vision. He is also a kind and caring human being. The staff is wonderful from the technicians to the receptionists. I highly recommend him to anybody that needs an ophthalmologist or just a good professional eye exam. read more
