Everyone is super nice and it is so easy to make appointments and speak to a professional regarding any concerns. This office is located inside the LensCrafters but is a separate office called Cosmopolitan Eyecare. I've always had very satisfactory and positive experiences during my visit. I've gone to this office for several years now and I had an appointment scheduled for today that I had to cancel because of terrible interaction with Cameron at the front desk. I first get a text saying that my copay will be a dollar amount that I knew was incorrect. I texted back/forth explaining I had insurance and even sent a previous receipt showing that my exam would be covered with a much smaller co pay. I decide to call to make sure things are cleared up ahead of me going into the store. I'm told that I was looking at an old receipt and it would be the elevated amount (wrong). We look at a recent receipt and confirm that I was correct. Then he tries to disregard that fact and points to a traditionally optional service and tells me it's now mandatory. I'm told they are forcing all patients to do a "optomap" to review the back of the eye or you'll have to be dilated. I was told dilating of the eyes has always been mandatory and now Optomap is easier. Are other people forced to get their eyes dilated each time they go? I have certainly not. After the almost endless amount of sass, incorrect information and borderline aggressive behavior of Cameron, I cancelled my appointment and ended the call. read more

Dr. Chaudri is hands-down the BEST optometrist I've ever been to. I've had a high prescription since I was a young teen so I've been to my fair share of optometrists -- however, Dr. Chaudri was the first optometrist to ever 1) notice that I had been using the same obsolete contact lenses for a decade, 2) suggest that I try something newer with more advanced tech for my eyes' needs and 3) ask me about my personal habits (i.e. how I clean my lenses). This is already above and beyond the standard "Are you happy with your current lenses? Ok then." that I always got from past optometrists. I ended up switching to new contact lenses that were a much better fit for me given both my high prescription and personal habits -- all because she asked me those questions and personally helped me consider something new! The other thing I noticed and really appreciated about Dr. Chaudri is that she's very detail-oriented. She had me retake a retinal scan so that she could see 100% of what was going on (my lashes covered some areas of the first scan). Her level of attention made me feel very confident that my annual eye exam with her was comprehensive and thorough. It might also help to know that her office also has the modern Optos retinal imaging tech that doesn't require dilation -- a huge plus and well worth the extra bucks of co-pay since walking around NYC with dilated eyes and temporarily distorted depth perception can be dangerous. The staff at Cosmopolitan Eyecare were also incredibly friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about my insurance matters. They were transparent about the cost of my co-pay and how the co-pay amount would change depending on the exam options I chose (i.e. dilation versus Optos scan). I knew exactly what my co-pay would be before the services were rendered, which is amazing. I couldn't have asked for an easier experience, and again, I have been to MANY optometrists over the years. read more

They have: - An easy online paperwork system you fill out in advance. - Skilled technicians to knock out the various screenings you do before seeing the doc. - Retinal screening so you can skip dilation (costs more, but they don't push a hard sell if you want to go the old school route) As if they weren't already off to an amazing start for this new patient, Dr. Chaudri - who is the single best optometrist I've ever had...and I've been wearing glasses since 7th grade - was ready to see me the moment I was done with the pre-screenings. She was friendly, warm, personable, and clearly knowledgeable (to the point of her pretty much knowing the exact tweak I needed to my prescription before I sat in the chair, and asked all the right questions based on my medical history + age). But the part I appreciated the most was how completely transparent Dr. Chaudri was. How many times have you simply been told "They look good! Here's your script." Not with Dr. Chaudri! She took the time to not only show me the retinal screening results but break down exactly what each area of the eye was, what she was looking for, what progressive signs to keep an eye out for (heh) in my daily life...an awesome little biology lesson! When I was done, the staff already the card I listed on my paperwork charged and the receipt sent to my email (how many times have you put that info in an online form just to have to pull out your card again?). I can't say enough about Dr. Chaudri. She is professional, thorough and very personable. She examined my eyes for things I have not had an optometrist or ophthalmologist check. My retinal specialist told me he takes his kids to her, and after seeing her twice I understand why he thinks so highly of her. The team at Cosmopolitan Optometry has truly changed my life. I have had severe dry eye for years now and no amount of eye drops have ever been able to help. It was becoming incredibly embarrassing to have people mention my red eyes multiple times a day. This was the only group that was actually determined to help, instead of just insisting nothing could be done. After 4 OptiLight treatments and exams, I no longer have dry eye! I had a great visit with the team at Cosmopolitan Eyecare. Although one front of house representative was a bit cold the other one made up for it with her warm smile. After filling out my patient form a pre-screening was done to prepare me to see the doctor. Dr. Chu explained everything in plain English and walked me through every step of the examination. Then she explained her detailed findings and suggested several options for moving forward. Overall it was a pretty good experience and I left satisfied with the answers given with regards to the health of my eyes. Came here today to get an eye exam before work. Being a Lens Crafters patient for years, I came here thinking the exam would cost the same. Well clearly I was wrong! I checked in with the woman at the front desk and sat down. She then calls me up to tell me the exam starts at $250. What a rip off!!!! Never in my life have I paid more than $100 for a comprehensive eye exam (including contact lens/glasses prescription). I immediately said I wasn't willing to pay so much and she just looked at me and said okay. She didn't try to discuss any other options and watched as I walked out and left. Total waste of time. Don't recommend this place at all. read more

Coming here was probably the worst decision I've made in a while. The staff is so unprofessional and has zero decency. I called a while back to schedule a simple eye appointment for contacts/glasses. When I booked the appointment via phone, the staff did not seem to note down the date and time for my appointment. I called a day before my appointment to confirm that I was coming in the next day and they said they had nothing confirmed in their calendar. I was furious since I called two weeks ahead to book this and rearranged my entire schedule around this appointment. I knew this was the negligence of the staff. I asked to reschedule another appointment for the same time and day in the following week. For this appointment, I did the same and called a day ahead to ensure the appointment was confirmed. THE SAME THING HAPPENED and they said I didn't confirm the appointment. I was livid this time and asked to speak to a manager. The manager explained that there was a glitch in their system and they tried calling or emailing to confirm the appointment but received no response. When I asked what number and email they had on file to confirm they were unable to give me a response, meaning they never even tried to reach out to me to confirm the appointment. Realizing their mistake, they scheduled me immediately since I was available to come in. After going in and having the regular appointment which lasted 10 minutes total (like any other eye doctor appointment), the receptionist was unable to find out my total cost after insurance since the "system was down". She said she would give me a call back immediately or the next day to give me a quote on the price of my contacts. I received no call for two days. Today I called back and they hung up on me after putting me on hold for 10 minutes. Then, I called back after an hour and it went straight to voicemail. Honestly I wasted so much time here I wish I had gone somewhere else. I'm going to take my prescription and get out of here as soon as I can. If you've taken the effort to read this entire thing, do yourself a favor and don't waste your time coming here. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Chaudri since she was at the Fifth Ave Lenscrafter (they moved here) for over an year and half. Appointments are pretty efficient. They have great, new technology to scan the retina - there are added expenses to what is covered by insurance, but it's a reasonable detective expense considering how much we use our eyes/computers these days. I do make sure to ask how much the expenses are. I also got fitted for two contact lenses (a weekly and a daily). The Dr. is honest and helpful with her assessments. More proactive than the other optometrists that I've seen over the years to the point where I'm recommending her to my friends! The office also gets a gold star for this experience: I had ordered my contacts right before an intl trip and Sunday was the last day I could pick them up. I was stuck in traffic from downtown so I called. They had no trouble with staying slightly past their store hours on a Sunday! I ended up getting there earlier but their attitude counts! read more

I was traveling into NYC, and desperately needed some optometry help. Took a list of optometrists, and worried that there was no way, would I get help in NY. I was WRONG. Kathy came thru starting from my desperate email the night before arriving the city, and highly responsive back and forth until she helped me with a solution! After an hour of waiting I was told by the receptionist that because I was 10 mins late for my appointment and everybody who came after me were on time, I can either reschedule my appointment or wait there for the rest of the afternoon until the next "late" person. I literally spent an hour for my commute to make to this appointment and another hour waiting there but get nothing done. It's redicoilous. I def will not recommend this store to anyone read more

I went to see Dr. Chu, the optometrist, for an eye check up. She is wonderful, friendly, warm, and efficient. The office is clean and conveniently located. She did a great job explaining to me why my eyes tend to be on the slightly drier side, and gave me some tips (related to blinking! things I never think about) on how to prevent the eye dryness. I would highly recommend this place and Dr. Chu for eyecare. I don't have glasses or contacts since laser eye surgery several years ago, and hopefully it stays that way! But if I ever did have a need I would come here. read more

I couldn't be more happy with the services rendered to me. I look forward to future experiences with this optical. I filled out the forms required for the appointment ahead of time. The admins sent them out via email the day before the appointment. They are quickly checking you in and out with efficiency and the doctor was so easy to talk to about any concerns I had. LensCrafters was an absolute dream as well. The assistant manager listened to my needs. I informed him that I was on a budget and he did everything in his available power to ensure that I picked out the right frames and lenses at a reasonable price point and found additional discounts with my insurance. I came in at 10:30AM and was out the door by 11:45AM. The additional 45 minutes was picking out the glasses (personal decision). If you're looking for an eye doctor who cares and staff members who really will work with you, go there. I am more than satisfied and you certainly will be too. read more

Very nice, clean and friendly atmosphere. Easy to make appointment. Came in looking for a new pair of glasses and was due for an exam. The following Monday I came in and was out in a little over an hour. Glasses were ready way earlier than expected. I actually got them within 4 days and they are great. Came here for my yearly eye checkup and contact lens prescription. Firstly, when I called and made an appointment Kathy at the front desk was super kind and answered any questions I had. The day of I was actually almost an hour late but Kathy didn't chastise me for it and got me set up to still see Dr. Chu. The eye examination was quick and very thorough. They had machines there that I've never seen before, and they gave me a good insight on my overall eye health. Dr. Chu was also very sweet. I booked my appointment online and it was clearly stated that my insurance was accepted. Luckily, I asked the front desk to verify my insurance before going in. To my surprise, they mentioned that they are out of Network and offered me to pay $89 for an eye exam. I totally wasted my time as I never had to pay for an eye exam with Blue Cross Blue Shields insurance... Deceptive online advertisement is clearly hurting their business. read more

Unfortunately, I had a less than glorious experience with Cosmopolitan, and am thoroughly disappointed with their services. If you do not enjoy paying your healthcare providers to argue with them or having a straightforward process dragged out for weeks, I'd stay far away from this place. I have been wearing glasses since I was 8 and contacts since I was 14, and have never had such a difficult set of visits to renew my prescription. I first saw Dr. Chaudri three weeks ago, who was thorough in her exam and quite warm and friendly. She suggested I try using daily contacts that were not for astigmatism (I have always worn toric lenses) and I was happy to give them a try considering the potential cost savings. I left the office with some trials, but after a few hours back at work I began to doubt they would work out for me -- I simply could not see out of them, not even the Starbucks menu. I returned the same afternoon, and was given another set of trials, but still could not see out of those either. I returned the next day and was given trials of daily astigmatism lenses by Dr. Mendelson (who had an attitude and never even looked at my eyes by the way), but those were still not as comfortable as my old lenses and my vision was not as sharp. I called two days later to request that I just have the prescription written for my old lenses, and the administrative staff ordered trials in my old lens brand (and one more daily option) -- we then scheduled the follow-up to finalize the prescription. Today, I had the follow up and wore my original lens brand, which I have been wearing for nearly 6 years now. Dr. Chu inquired about my happiness with them, and made a comment about how they were the same prescription as I had before, though there was actually a slight change in the axis. She then proceeded to argue with me about the change in prescription, until I finally told her that I would leave, go home and take a picture of the box, and email it to her since she refused to believe that a customer could possibly have accurate knowledge of what was put in her eye. We walked to the reception desk together, where she checked with the administrative staff who confirmed that I was, indeed, wearing the prescription that I told her. Dr. Chu offered no apology for arguing with me, and then I was charged another $70 for the "exam" she gave, where she literally did nothing but watch me read some lines and look at the lens on my eye. She spent more time arguing with me than actually providing any service. I will save myself the headache next year, and look elsewhere for an office who respects and values their customers. read more

Great service. Staff was efficient and accomodating. They took me as a walk in and got me in and out before my break was over. Perfect!

I went to Cosmopolitan Eyecare for an eye exam, and while the appointment was fine, I woke up the next day with an EYE INFECTION. Upon returning to Cosmopolitan, they (receptionist, Office Manager, and Dr.) agreed that I had an eye infection, but would not examine my eye without me paying for another visit. I found that to be unacceptable. For someone who does not get eye infections, it is hard to believe that between seeing the eye doctor (without any sign of infection) at 5:00PM and going to sleep at 10:00PM I developed an infection. It is VERY LIKELY that resting my face on their (dirty) equipment caused this infection. If Cosmopolitan had at least taken steps to rectify their malpractice, I would have been satisfied, instead they wanted to charge me for another appointment. I will be seeing another doctor. read more

The last time I stepped foot into an eye doctor, I was about 15 years old, now 15 years later, I decided to get an eye exam. The office was recommended by a co-worker and was she right! I waited no more than 5 minutes, which is unheard of in any doctor's office.I saw Dr. Chaudri, she's lovely! The staff were amazing- very warm, nice, and helpful. Frustrating experience to communicate with the receptionists here. They are very inexperienced, whether it's appointment scheudle, insurance, problem with orders. They were often unclear about able the exact situation and solution, and tend to shift the burden to the customer. For example, one time they told me they were not sure if i don't use all of my annual allowances on the lenses all at once, i might lose the remaining balance. They told me to confirm to proceed at my own risk.. as my optometry i expect you would inform the customer of a policy like that?! I have a very widely used eyecare plan and it's pretty common sense that your annual allowance would be accumulative. But they were not sure, and had to give me a fright like that. Not very professional in my opinion. This was just one of numerous examples. Almost every time i deal with them i get frustrated. read more

One and done for me. The exam went fine but these ladies are aggressive charging extras. They have some fancy retinal machine that does extra scanning they call an optomap- insurance certainly doesnt cover but you arent really given the choice ahead of time. They charged me for a contact lens fitting and did no such work- just gave me the same prescription anyone else has for 20 years. It's got to be tough with the rent on 6th Ave in the middle of midtown but you have to vote with your feet as the customer. read more

I was extremely happy with the service and prices here! To be honest, I expected to have to overpay since it is in Manhattan, but the price of an eye exam was very reasonable. I don't have vision insurance but they gave me a significant discount for showing just my regular health insurance card. Very nice and helpful staff! I was cleaning my contacts in my office which is located across the street from them and one of my lenses tore in half. I went to Cosmopolitan Eyecare to see if they could help me out with a new one even though I'm not a patient there. They were very helpful and just told me to call my eye doctor and have her send over the prescription. Not only did I get one new lens, but she threw in a new pair just in case! This was my second appointment at this clinic. I booked an appointment for 5 PM, apparently 5 PM doesn't mean 5 PM for them. I was waiting for 45 min for my turn with 3 other people waiting there. Then i pointed that i had issue with the prescription(which i mentioned while the doctor was running the tests in the first examination) i was given and the doctor told me that it was intentional, which sounded like a cover up for the mistake that was made. read more

Compared to other clinics, the machines are really new and advanced.

I think these people need a clock because they have NEVER taken me at the time I scheduled my appointment. I always wait at least 15 minutes, last time I waited more than 30 minutes. What's the point of making appointments??? And no real apology either, always just "Have a seat, the doctor is running late". RUDE. I understand you might get backed up occasionally but this has happened EVERY time I have been there. read more
