This was our first time ordering from Frogs. My husband and I just retired in Dunnellon Florida, and we have been struggling to find local good/acceptable Barbeque. This place is located in Williston Florida which is about 20 miles from our home in Rainbow Lakes Dunnellon Florida. The outside of the building reminds me of an old time BBQ shack. The area reeked of delicious BBQ. We ordered the chopped pork sandwich with fries and a drink. This was one of the lunch special. My husband ate all of his lunch, but it was too much for me...I didn't eat any more food the rest of the day. Delicious! Excellent service! Totally disappointed. Two visits in two weeks and bad both times! I am from the local area and have enjoyed this place for 50+ years. Not any more. They have changed the way they cook their meat and changed its consistency. Greasy, big globs of meat, and no taste (both pork and beef) - appears to be tasteless boiled meat soaked in BBQ sauce ... Fries were undercooked. Yet as lousy as it was, they have not hesitated to raise their prices. I believe people still eat here out of past tradition - not realizing it has "sunk to nothing." Don't judge a book by the cover or a restaurant by it's curb appeal. We had large family gathering over the weekend and all went to the botanical gardens. We needed a place where our loud overtired kiddos wouldn't be bothering anyone and yet the food was good. I called ahead and asked if they could accommodate our large group, they said yes so after the gardens we headed over. When we first arrived (since none of us had seen the place before calling them) several in the party were put off by the appearance of the building and how small it was. However, the kind and friendly waitress & cook more than made up for it. The food was delicious. The ribs are beef ribs and are very gamey. My family is a mixed race blended one, and based on the poor service, their insistence my daughter use an extra plate "so she doesn't make a orange mess on my white table", and the loud OAN political network sending it's negative messaging, we felt unwelcome and judged. The medium, mustardy and not too sweet BBQ sauce was the best part of this poor experience. The meal was only made better by the diners who refused to make eye contact or the opposite that stared at us. My children could feel pap-able negative attention we were receiving. I must say, today I was very disappointed in frogs. Almost every other Sunday I go there to get something for my sister and not only was it hot instead of mild...it was dry and not wet like I asked. Mind you we live in archer and my sister was gonna eat it for dinner. She called me and told me what happened so I called frogs to let them know what happened. The girl asked if we still had the meat and if we did to bring it back and they would remake it. First of all, this is a health risk and rude. She told me I could call back on Monday and speak to the Mgr. I am not a scammer, in fact we have never had an issue, but it kinda came off like we were scamming. Stopped in on recommendation from online reviews. Eaten a lot of Q in Florida but this was fair at best. Ribs were dried out and over cooked. Some of the rib meat was unchewable. Pulled pork sandwich was OK but nothing to write home about. Corn nuggets were tasty but a lot of oil from fryer still in batter. Served with ranch dipping sauce. Coleslaw was fair at best. This is the second time I've eaten here. I only came this time because my husband is fond of the place. I think I would like the food better if the atmosphere was nicer. It's just so rundown that it distracts from the food. I have only had the pork. I like that they grill the bun but the meat really lacks a smoky taste. There is zero evidence of a smoke house so I guess they prepare the meat offsite. I think I'm the future I will pass. read more

We went to the Devil's Den and stopped to eat here on our way back to Miami. We had the pull pork sandwich (sweet medium), fries (well done), corn on the cobb, cole slaw, corn nuggets and sweet tea. Apparently what I knew as BBQ was only in reality grilling, and after eating at Frog's I can definitely see what the difference is! I'm not one for pork, but I'm always down for beef! I really love frogs Barbeque. They are always so friendly there, and even if it doesn't look like much the food is great. The only complaint I have are the restrooms. To be frank, they are quite bad. But the food is the main attraction, and it delivers. I always get their pork plate special which is amazing. The bread is toasted great, and the beans are some of the best I've had. small place right on hwy 27, just before you get into williston, on the right side if you're driving from ocala. prices are good and the sandwiches are good. from what i was told, the name comes from the original owner who's last name was, naturally, Frog. the meat isn't the smokiest i've had but it is good and the bbq sauce is tasty. i suggest going straight to the hot bbq sauce. its not insanely hot and has just about the right amount of zip to it to not overpower the meat. counter service is friendly. if you are driving through right around eatin' time, pull in and say hey. its a small cozy place and the seating is limited, and there is a picnic table outside and a small water garden. read more

They say you can't judge a book by it's cover. Well that needs to be taken to heart when you drive up to this place. The food is good, especially the pulled pork. BUT, it looks horrible outside and even worse inside. It is an old mobile home that was patched together and somehow made into a kitchen. I wont call it a restaurant. The bug zappers, open electrical boxes and foot of dirt on the floor wont allow me to. Did I mention that you cant stand up straight because the floor slants at a 30 degree angle? I was dove hunting in Williston this past weekend and some one recommended Frogs for a BBQ lunch. Super Friendly folks. GOOD pork sandwich with fries and a tea combo... Me and my two young boys $20 for (3) for lunch...all good. The BBQ sandwich is pretty sloppy as it is drenched with sauce, but it was definitely good. Not a lot of space inside and absolutely nothing fancy but it is the definition of a roadside bbq joint. read more
