Great pho spot in Foggy Bottom! Relaxed pub ambiance with seating at tables and around the bar. I usually come here after teaching and enjoy their Pho Tai. The broth is perfectly seasoned with generous portions of meat. All vegetable toppings are fresh and add a delicious addition to the soup. The service is speedy and accommodating. Solid restaurant!

Froggy Bottom Pub has a relaxed, no-frills vibe--nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a casual hangout. A couple of draft beers were out but there are other options and happy hour drink deals. Though I didn't try the food (other than fries) the food menu is a fun mix of classic bar favorites and Vietnamese options, which is unexpected. It's not a must-visit, but if you're in the area, it's a decent spot to grab a drink and something a little different to eat.

Froggy Bottom Pub is truly one of the hidden treasures of DC. On the outside, it looks like a normal pub-type restaurant. It looks clean but definitely bar food - and if you look at the menu quickly, you might make that same mistake. The menu has things like wings, mozzarella sticks, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and pizza, but if you look closer you'll see there are also Vietnamese dishes mixed in. The website does the best job of explaining the reasoning here with its emotional story about the two owners escaping Vietnam during the war only to be picked up by a Thai fishing boat. The woman was able to move to Paris and gave the man an ultimatum to find her by a certain time, and he ended up showing up on her doorstep right at the end of the limit - they moved to the US and opened a restaurant afterwards. It's such an amazing story I definitely recommend reading the whole thing on their website, but that's the reason for the amazing Vietnamese food on the menu! I ordered the Bun Cha Froggy and the Fresh Garden Rolls, but I'd definitely go back for their Banh Mi and maybe Pho if I was eating in. Everything was amazing, and they even sat me at a table with water while I was waiting for my takeout order. Fresh Garden Rolls ($7) - These are great! They have a nice chewy exterior and are packed full of noodles, veggies, shrimp, and pork. The peanut sauce was a nice addition, but I also dipped them in some of the fish sauce from the Bun Cha which was also very tasty. I'd definitely order these again - and they're reasonably priced! Bun Cha Froggy ($15) - I love Bun Cha - it's like a salad with rice noodles, pickled veggies, and grilled meat. This one was great and came with a HUGE tub of their sweet and tangy fish sauce, which I doused my noodles in. I had enough leftover to eat with the springrolls too, but the Bun Cha was so fresh and tasty with the perfect amount of seasoning on the meat. I know I said I'd like to try other dishes, but I'd have a hard time not ordering one of these next time I come here too. Delicious!

Great spot with options for everyone - I got the beef pho, it was an extremely generous portion. Service was great.

We were looking for a spot to eat after a long day around DC and a Nationals Game and we were in the mood for Pho and stumbled upon this place which was a short 10 min walk from our hotel. Location was easy to find and the place was very clean and well maintained. Service is something that needs to be addressed as we were waiting about 5 mins to be seated even though the place wasn't packed and many tables were open. The bartender and the owner was the only ones doing everything so o think if there was another person hired then it would be better and faster service. The rooms on the other hand was excellent and reasonably priced. I was there with a friend and we both got the Pho Froggy which was very flavorful and the broth was really good too. Portion size was great as well. Going back to the service part again we waited for a long time to get the bill so we could be on our way. We'd definitely be back next time we're in town but honestly the service is something that needs to be addressed because everything else was up to par.

Ok on the 4 dollar scale this is a 2 dollar sign location. The food is really more of a basic one dollar food, the location and ambiance is nice enough. The service was friendly and fast. The deep fryer wings were barely basic. The wild poppers are from a bag the same you can get from Sonic for $4. The nachos were fully loaded not a single chip without the goods on it! But the ingredients were again basic but good! The cost of this meal in downtown DC was Very reasonable, for a good cheep basic meal, I'd do it again!

Pho was good. Pizza was eh. Service is great. Ambiance is casual-- good to go with friends, especially since the tequila shot prices are reasonable.

Had a friendly greeting from Cat, who informed me that they didn't have any tables available at that time since it was trivia night and a popular time to be there, but one would probably be opening up soon. Thankfully I scored two spots at the bar and told her I'd take that table when it was available. So I bellied up to the bar and admitted to the bartender, Amir, that I'm not great at beer. He was gracious and had some recommendations and let me taste a few options. I landed on the La Chouffe Belgian blond ale. Tasty! And I loved the little gnome on the glass, the brand's adorable mascot. Friend joined, ordered a beer and we were quickly escorted to our table to order dinner. They opted for the classic house mussels, served with fries and several slices of bread for sopping up those tasty juices at the bottom of the mussel pot. I got the cheeseburger and subbed onion rings for the regular fries. Rings were great(!) but the burger was pretty dry and mediocre. We also shared some mozzarella sticks and they were tasty. Lastly, we decided to participate in the evening's trivia festivities. We didn't expect to do well, especially since we were the only 2-person team. Turns out we ended up getting 2nd place. Fun!

I brought my cousin and he remembered from the previous time that I performed there that the food was good and we're both kind of picky. Jose, the bartender was excellent all weekend. I ordered some wings and I asked him what flavor he recommends and he said old Bay, which I can't remember if that was even on the menu but they were outstanding. I don't always love breaded wings, but they were not heavily breaded and I am originally from Virginia so I'm very familiar with old Bay. I was actually a little nervous they were gonna go kind of strong on it to appeal to people that are out of town or just wanna hype up the whole old bay crab seasoning and it wasn't that at all. It was a great recipe. The next night, I got the burger and it was also excellent. Also, in terms of comedy, the comedy loft is on point. Most people don't know how much the size and the shape of the room matter but it makes a huge difference if you have low ceilings. I think that plus the brick walls just capture all the laughter and I've done shows in there that had 12 people and I've done full rooms and either way it feels explosive in there when people laugh. Anyhow, highly recommend it both for guest and comics! Thanks for a great weekend! Jeff Kane

The wings and truffle fries were almost $20 each - the exact same price as all the burgers. They only have canned cocktails and the selection is also very limited. I believe only 3 types of canned cocktails are available. There's a beer and wine menu but I'm not sure how exhaustive it is. Our food also took forever to arrive, long after the show started and we ordered about 20+ minutes before the show started. The seating is inconvenient and narrow, and tables and floors are sticky. I'm only giving it 3 stars because my cheeseburger was good and the patty was thick. I would come back for the comedy show probably but not get food or drinks. You're probably better off just getting soda for the two item minimum. I couldn't take any pictures since our food came late after the show had already started and we weren't allowed to take any pictures during the show.

My interpretation of the gist of what everyone was complaining about was that they used to come here all the time (as did I years ago, but it's been a year since being here) and they didn't like the new, slimmed down menu... and they definitely hated the prices here now. Our service was ok, nothing special. I feel like the majority of the servers are very young and might not have the training, nor experience to understand what true service is, not just taking orders and bringing food. The menu was nice. We liked their "Everyday is Sunday" section of the menu, so we tried 2 orders (4 persons) of the pork chop tomahawk and 1 order (2 persons) of the Côte de Boeuf. We started with their Scotch Egg - WOW! Really flavorful with a great texture, inside and out. Definitely a very nice way to start. Cocktails and wine were a hit here for sure! Especially Jarad's G&T, which we got a couple of. Main dishes were great! Plenty of food too!! The spices on the crust of the porkchop tomahawk were so tasty and the temperature was spot-on! The steak in the Côte de Boeuf was incredible! Perfectly seasoned and at that absolute perfect temperature too! The carrots that came with this were very nicely done, but the potatoes stole the show! This dish came with OUTSTANDING Fondant potatoes... They had a great, smokey flavor to them, as if they were basted in pork fat. The meat was perfectly textured and flavored. Overall - While this is no longer the Hunter's Head that many came to know, love, and enjoy, I feel they're doing a decent job here. I'll definitely return, as I want to try their fish & chips!

I ended up biking and there's a bike stand really close by. My friend was craving fish and chips, so we ventured out this way. Because we came on a Thursday they had a deal going where if you ordered a pie, you could get a beer for free. Of course I had to partake, so I ordered the special pie, which was a masala, chicken, curry pie, and it was quite good. A bit small for the price point but with the beer included totally worth it also because their fries are so good. I could demolish over a pound of those fries. They were thick potato and maybe the extra added bonus of having to use a glass ketchup bottle added to it. My friend and I were also taught how to properly hit the ketchup bottle to get the ketchup out by the bartender. You find the 57 on the bottle at an angle and bump you palm there that instead of hitting the bottom and hoping and praying that ketchup comes out. It actually worked or at least it was more efficient than trying to hit the bottom of the bottle upside down. I had never had a hand pumped beer before, but it was quite good.
