Came to town for parents weekend (didn't know it was parents weekend :(). Ended up picking this when other waits were long. Line to the door but we were eating within 20 minutes and it was delicious! Definitely adding to our A2 must eats list! read more

One of the best meals I've had in a long long time. It's worth the wait in line and outlives the hype.

This place is a treasure! Their chorizo patties are stellar. You definitely can't go wrong ordering here though. Their fries are to die for, and perfected with garlic. I also cannot recommend enough the "best snack ever"- a playfully inspired simple dish making the most of their Cuban inspired cuisine. To top it all off, you must try one of their assorted batidos- or fruit milkshakes. It makes for the perfect balance to their rich food. read more

Service was terrible. Waitress wasn't able to explain how it worked to order. I'm not going back.

This is a very chic and trendy place. Its nice how they have a history about the place and details about what Frita and Batidos actually mean. The ambience is very modern and cozy. The food is delicious. A nice game of Dominos while chatting away and eating the delish food adds a spark to the evening :) read more

Love this place! Food is delicious and staff is friendly. I will recommend and keep going for the amazing food!

The food is excellent- albeit not traditional Cuban but lots of infused Cuban flavors- I had the chorizo Frita with Munster and slaw- absolutely delicious and nice layering of flavors- the spicy with the sweet of the slaw and oooooey Munster - I also had the coconut batidos... yummm! Hubs had the Cuban and although he liked it - very tasty- he didn't care for the very thick bacon-we also had the plaintains but I didn't care for them- they weren't as I remembered from my years in Tampa ( first introduction to authentic Cuban food)these were a like hard- Tables are sticky due to a process error- they are getting new tables read more

The fish frita was nice but I would like to try the other kinds. Overall a satisfying meal.

This place is one of my favorites in Ann Arbor! Super laid back vibe (clean aesthetic, you sit on picnic tables) and it's a nice casual place to get together with someone and eat some great food. You order at the counter across the front; the server was incredibly friendly and explained to my friend (first time here) what the Freitas are and how best to order. For first timers, I always recommend the Chorizo Loco $14 (sunny side up egg, cilantro lime salsa, coleslaw salad, avocado spread). When you come here, you commit to a messy, but delicious and filling meal!! We also split the seasonable batido $5 (goats milk with caramel). By far my favorite new flavor; it was so delicious and rich. Glad I ended up getting to split one with my friend. If you also want to come for just a snack, their fries are seasoned perfectly and hit the spot every time! read more

Okay, honestly, this is one of my favorite places to eat in Ann Arbor. My go-to dish is the beef frita with muenster, egg and avocado. If you don't tell them anything, they'll make your beef frita medium rare so be sure to tell them if you want your burger cooked any other way. The burger comes with fries inside, but their garlic cilantro fries is also really good! It's a little big so hopefully you'd have people to share it with. For drinks, I like the coconut batido, which is coconut milkshake, really refreshing and yummy! The passionfruit batido is also good, but it's a little bit on the sweet side for my taste. read more

Delicious food and friendly service, this is one of my favorite spots in Ann Arbor, I go probably every other week!

Popular spot in Downtown Ann Arbor, where the city has streets blocked off on weekends to encourage outdoor seating at the many restaurants in the area, FB serves up a variety of sandwiches "Fritas" and bowls. If you don't place your order on line, prepare to stand in line to order and wait for your food to be prepared. So you can take it outdoors or eat inside at one of the large picnic tables where you share the space with a fellow foodie- and there are a lot of interesting people in that town. We had the chorizo burger, the chicken sandwich, and the "best snack ever". Great fries too are included with the sandwiches and you can add a multitude of items to the sandwiches although I ordered mine without any extras and it was plenty, my son loaded his up with some of the extras like a fried egg. The drink selection looked delicious, but we passed on the dessert too. If you're looking for something different, this is the place read more

Overpriced and NOT good. I grew up in Brazil and this is nothing like the Batidos I remember. I honestly don't know why anyone ques for their stuff. I would rate this among the most overpriced and underdelivered venues in Ann Arbor. read more

After hitting a couple of disappointing "highly rated" AA Yelp restaurants, Frita restored my faith the local food scene. We liked the restaurant setup, very Miami-ish and bright, also liked the community picnic table setup. Service was really good and friendly. Now to the food. The fritas were amazing, we had both the beef and chorizo and were split on which was better. My daughter had a kids beef frita and she actually finished it (which she never does, and she loved it). One of us had the 1/2 Cuban and "best snack" - say the cuban was good (but not outstanding) and the snack was very good. The garlic/cilantro fries had great taste but too soggy, wish they were crispy. Generally would probably give 4.5 overall but rounded up in this case given the stellar service. Will definitely be back next time I'm back in AA! read more

This has honestly became one of favorite places to eat in Ann Arbor. I tried it out from recommendations from friends. I think the hamburgers that you get here are just very unique compared to other hamburger places you can get in Ann Arbor. The fries and the egg in the burger melds well with the sauce and the burger itself. In addition, the smoothies are really good even though it's quite a bit more expensive. I highly recommend this place as a must try and if it's the one restaurant you want to eat in Ann Arbor, it's this one! read more

I need it to be more Cuban... As a former Miami resident, this place is not giving. We need more Latin places in AA.

Really depends on what you order. Loaded plantains are very good, as well as all of the drinks. Sometimes the fires can be overly salty and soggy. Some of the sandwich buns can be very dry. Sandwiches can get expensive bc adding veggies costs extra. read more

This is hands down the best place to eat at in Ann Arbor, the place small and has a limited menu but everything on it is amazing, my brother and I both got their versions of burgers, which is the most popular item on their menu, we also got milkshakes that were also very good, highly highly recommend. read more

Tried this place tonight based on a recommendation. The place was packed but ordering was quick and food to table was quick. The menu is simple but the food had layers of flavor. Frita Batidos - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

I love love love this place. What an Ann Arbor gem. This is one of my go-to places when I'm entertaining young, out of towners. I've been several times over the years, most recently this week. It was a beautiful day. Unfortunately the tables outside were already fully Pros: - Food. I don't know if I like the Frita or the Batido better. I got the chicken frita with Muenster, avocado, and a fried egg. The chicken is the perfect level of spicy. I'm obsessed. I also got shoe string fries. Wish they were hotter, but amazing. - Batidos. Passion Fruit is the best. I obviously get it with a splash of rum. Highly recommend. - Customer Service. They're so friendly. They messed up and made our batidos twice, so they gave us the extra. They do a nice job of clearing the tables. Cons: - Sometimes it's a little crowded and loud. I wouldn't bring my grandparents here. - There's no parking. This is right off Main Street. Good luck. Not their fault. Seating is indoor picnic tables. It can get crowded, so sometimes you have to wait for a seat. They have games on the table and water, and it's never a long wait for food. Ugh I want to go back already. read more

I am very upset with Frita Batidos! How dare they be located 150 miles from where I live! LoL Seriously though; this is an amazing place to eat and I am very happy to have had the opportunity to be in Ann Arbor and randomly select this location. I ordered a beef Frita with tropical slaw and avocado spread, coconut cream batido, crisped plantains, and twice fried plantains. My girlfriend ordered chicken batido with cilantro lime salsa and avocado spread, fresh lime batido, and churro. My Frita was AMAZING I should have said well done (yes I am the weirdo who doesn't like medium rare beef), but that was on me. The flavor though was so good! That slaw and avocado with the fries and beef just stood out amazingly. The crisped plantains were amazing (I've had crisp plantains elsewhere and they don't compare! It was the first time trying the fried plantains though and I LOVE IT! I don't know what spices are used in the fried plantains but it works amazingly and it was a great balance of savory and spice flavors (not spicy as in hot; I mean spices). Lastly the batidos...WOW! There is fresh coconut in this drink and my girlfriend let me try her lime one...that is some fresh lime too. These don't have extracts and fake flavors...IT'S THE REAL DEAL! All in all this place is 9/10 (I only docked a point because I live in Ohio 150 miles away HaHa). read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the price. The add ons to the sandwiches are pretty expensive. They're all $1+. So if you want to add cheese, egg, and salsa, be prepared to dole out another $3 at least. It seems a bit high to me. Anyway, if you're craving a burger, this is the place to go in Ann Arbor. The presentation is nice on a banana leaf and the bread is perfect. The fries on the burger is nice too since I never want to order a whole side fries but just want a few. They look like they try to support local farmers which is cool! After eating here, get dessert at Blank Slate creamery around the corner! read more

Food and service are great! The vibe of this place is perfect. My fiancé and I love coming here!

This place, this place hits all of the things I love about a restaurant. Fast casual/excellent service? Check, delicious interesting food? Check, good pricing and variety of food available? Check check check! I loved my visit here and you will too. This is a super unique kind of place, Cuban inspired, not Cuban completely, this restaurant serves some super tasty things on their menu. I had to go with the Chorizo frita and loaded it up (except tomatoes and mushrooms) and it was well worth it. Their homemade shoestring fries with sauce are fantastic! The location was nice and there was ample seating. They've also got outdoor seating available for nicer/warmer weather. Water on every table makes drinks a breeze although they have other drinks available. I've heard a lot about their plantains being great here but I've yet to have plantains I actually like? Idk, I'll have to give them a shot if I'm ever back in town. read more

I'm bummed to write a negative review, but I just did not like my experience here. First, the line was super long, and the space was very crowded. They don't have a very efficient system, and there is no assigned seating-- it's a free-for-all at communal picnic benches. Second, the food is expensive and greasy. The burger I got was very salty and oily--even the bun was covered in grease. And the fries were cold and soggy. Such a disappointment! I heard great things about this place and it just did not measure up. read more

Get the "Best Snack Ever" and thank me later. The sweetness of the coconut in the rice mixed with the savory flavor of the beans is spectacularly complimented by the muenster cheese. Every bite was delicious! The plantains were good but a bit soft for me - I prefer plantains to be cooked down a little more to give it a good crisp on the edges. We will be back! read more

Great food and nice atmosphere. Love playing dominos while waiting for some tasty burgers and fries. Would highly recommend the plantains.

Every website called this place THE place to be. So, despite the fact we had *just* eaten, when we were driving around downtown Ann Arbor we had to stop and see what all the hub bub was about. The vision I had in my head was a vaguely lit restaurant with limited seating and teeny menu. I was met with a stark white, brightly lit restaurant with picnic benches flanking the walls, and a pretty long list of delicious sounding food. Still not convinced this was the "it" place, we got in their very long line while my family rallied for a space on one of the benches. It was happy hour (a few samples of their fritas and smaller version of 'the best little snack' ((black beans, rice and salsa)), at a reduced rate, roughly $5/$3 each, so we grabbed a few to sample. Wow, their frita/burger was INTENSELY DELICIOUS. I only got 1/4 of it as we were not hungry, but curious, and I would have gladly stolen another piece from my visiting family members and feel very little guilt about it. (They were much too quick to snatch their share up.) We also ordered several of their batidos, fruit and ice cream smoothies. Mother-in-law got the "best" one of the bunch, passion fruit batido. I got their "fresh batido" which was mango, pineapple and just a small dollop of vanilla ice cream, and that was super yummo, too. My kiddo went with their coconut batido and that was delicious and creamy. Father-in-law got their lime batido, which paled in comparison to the others, but still refreshing and tart. Next time we are in Ann Arbor guess who is getting their own frita and batido. Me, that's who. read more

This place was incredible! We got a beef and chorizo frita. No need to add any additional toppings. They're already perfect. I got a passionfruit batido and it was amazing. Highly recommend! I've been looking for a place like Frita Batidos in NYC for a while now, but nothing has met the mark yet!! This place is an Ann Arbor institution and as a Umich undergrad, I have many fond memories of it. As for the noms, I ALWAYS add a sunny side up egg to my frita! And I would usually get the Coconut Cream batido on the side. I have tried almost all of the flavors but the Coconut one is uh-maize-ing (see what I did there ;) If you're there with a couple of friends, get the Loaded Plantains to share! And if you want something sweet, the Churros espanol is soo good and tastes slightly orangey which I love + is served with warm, spiced chocolate. read more

Frita Batidos - Cuban Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

Fresh, vibrant, unique flavors galore in this carefully curated menu. The food speaks for itself. The burgers are generous concoctions of tropical meets junk food and never fail to deliver a deletable taste bud tango. The salsa is fresh and tangy with slices of pineapple. The mayo is creamy and lightly scented with citrus and herb. Meals are definitely filling if not heavy, but who doesn't crave the occasional indulgence? Cherry on top is the consistently top-notch service, which only enhances the experience. Definitely worth a visit (or many!) - and dont forget to try the hibiscus lemonade. read more

Not the place for a first date... my face and hands were so messy!! We tried the chorizo frita with plenty of add-ons, cilantro garlic fries (YUM), and crisped plantains. If this is what they serve in Cuba, I gotta book a trip! The food was delicious and I would definitely bring friends visiting Ann Arbor here for a special dinner. Only bummer was that we waited over an hour for a table and then resorted to takeout after being told it would still be another 30 minutes. The staff were apologetic, though, and our takeout wait time was exactly as quoted. Overall positive experience! read more
