Absolutely heavenly, no bells and whistles- just really tasty food. The vegetarian option is amazing and the drinks are also perfect! Items come out quick and the servers are friendly. The restaurant itself is the perfect elevated fast food ambience, so there's a lot of room to talk and it's a great place to bring friends! read more

I visited Frita Batidos on Saturday, 5/13/23, during dinner time. I decided to order the Garlic Cilantro Fries and Inspired Cuban Sandwich. The fries tasted awesome with the dipping sauce and ketchup. The sandwich was tasty as well. I added a little bit of mustard to it and it elevated the flavor. All in all, both food items were the definition of deliciousness. read more

Food was yummy and the staff was efficient on a busy night! We got a chorizo frita and piña batido with a splash of rum:) My friend ordered the ginger drink but we didn't realize how spicy it would be which was a little embarrassing HOWEVER the wait staff were so kind, they replaced with a sweet sangria for no charge Cute spot! read more

These burgers are SUPER messy and SUPER delicious. The flavors are amazing... I got the chorizo burger and it was so fresh and tasty. The fried plantains are also delicious and the drinks amazing too (esp the ginger one.) The service is a little annoying - I hate order at the counter places. And parking is terrible downtown. But otherwise, this place is super tasty and worth the price (about as expected.) Would definitely go again. read more

Woah!!! Full of flavor, gluten and dairy free options that still have tons of taste. Cool little spot and packed with people. Great place for a burger. read more

Absolutely stellar spot with service. Order at the counter and find a table with water on every one. The food portions were gigantic and not at all what I was expecting. I figured you'd loose some flavor in how big everything is but the flavor is really impactful and juicy. Everything was amazing and I was blown away. The plantains were crazy since I've never had them savory. Worth checking out if you are in the area read more

I don't know that my review is going to tell you something you probably already don't know about this place, but hey, why not try? I've been wanting to try Frita Batidos out for a long time, and finally had the opportunity last night. I was on this side of town and finally was like I have no excuse not to come here, so I did. It's not hard to find, just hard to park in this area. There is a lot nearby, and street parking's almost impossible. I got one around the block by the lot, so that was good. Walking in, the place was jamming! Lot's of people dining in and a nice hearty line at the register. For some reason, when I hear "Cuban Food" I immediately think spicy. (it's a long story why, but I do.) So, that's why I had hesitated even coming here in the first place. But, their mostly burgers with some bowl here as well, so that's why I finally decided to eat here. I went with their burger with an egg (over easy) on it and some Munster cheese. I got a side of fries, but since they don't have fountain pop here, I didn't get any of their specialty drinks. They also have alcoholic beverages, but were to expensive for me and plus I already had wine back at my hotel to drink, so I passed on that. It's community seating here, so no assigned tables. They run your food out and call your name through the restaurant in hopes of finding you. While that made me nervous at first, my order got to me correctly in no time. Let me tell you, the food here's legit and absolutely delicious. Anyone who tells you otherwise should not be trusted and please question their taste in food. There's no good reason to NOT like it here. I'm still thinking about it this morning, and was impressed with everything about this place. While the price point is a bit high here, it's a great place to dine. The foods worth it and even though I'm not a fan of community seating, I will gladly return in the future. read more

Kid friendly & great churros! A sweet employee helped us find a table for our party with two toddlers. It was super busy in there so having an employee go out of their way to make sure we had seating for the moms and kids was amazing! Also the food was delicious as always. The regular churros were ridiculously large lol but tasted great! read more

Really fun spot! We had a great time here. Met the hype! The burgers were excellent, we both got the beef but they have chorizo, chicken, veggie as well. There is a great spicy mayo on it as well, and fries on the burger. We added egg to ours as well, which was really delicious! The potato bun was amazing, the sauce was so flavorful, and the meat had a wonderful flavor. I would highly recommend! We also got the plantain chips and cilantro lime salsa. The salsa was eh to me because of the giant chunks of tomato, so I think I'd try the avocado spread if I go back. The plantains were great though, they were perfectly crispy and just the right amount of salt. Yum! My husband got a side of fries too. We both said if we went back we would probably just get the Frita, as it has fries on it already and is filling on its own. The place was really beautiful cute inside too and the service was fast with as many Leone there as there were. It was also fun because we had dominos at the table as well that we had fun playing with! Great spot! read more

Very fresh and innovative food. Friendly people and quick service. You share long tables but it is open, airy and clean

We called and confirmed that the beef and chicken here is halal...very cool to have a halal Cuban place! It gets really busy here but service is quick and tables are clean. There's plenty of seating inside and outside, you order and pay at the counter and they bring your food and drinks to you. We got the chicken frita, beef frita, garlic cilantro fries, and plantains. Also tried the passion fruit and chocolate espanol batidos. Everything tasted great, the fritas were so filling especially with the fries on top. Plantains were sweet and crispy and the fries were really good. Batidos were a great consistency and tasted so good. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you're in town. read more

Whenever I stop by Ann Arbor, I HAVE to come by and order from Frita Batidos. The restaurant is always busy, but I still give it a 5 star rating because of how DELICIOUS the food is. If you go, I highly recommend getting any of their burgers and making it loco; it just adds an exponential amount of flavor that you have to try. If you are picking a batido, i'd suggest NOT getting the chocolate, and instead getting the passion fruit. The fruitiness and sweet balance is immaculate. GET THE CHURRO. Cheap, delicious, large. Get it. read more

Frita Batidos is an Ann Arbor staple, and we've had both good and bad experiences here. The good: the fritas. These sandwiches are SO good, with a coating of fries that makes them extra indulgent. We often take out-of-town visitors here because these are always a hit. The not-so-great: the batidos and drinks seem to lean college-student-sweet. And that's the demographic they mostly cater to, so expect big crowds on weekends. I found that some of their sides are just okay. We've tried the loaded plantains, crisped plantains, and the "best snack ever" and sadly found them all underwhelming. TLDR: at least the fritas are always worth a stop! read more

Frita Batidos is our favorite road trip to Ann Arbor from Toledo. Inspired Cuban along with a couple of Hibiscus Mojitos is the perfect lunch spot. We've recruited our friends to join us and they absolutely love the Frita, along with the chocolate espanol, with a splash of dark rum. We always get the crisped plantains and the avocado spread, delicious , with an extra order to take home! read more

This was on my bookmarks for some time. I never had the chance to go. I still did not have a chance to go. Most of us are not back at the office yet, but we will likely adopt a hybrid model once we have a "go live@ date to return to the office. I was only here for a few days so my colleague that works in a different dept. planned to come in to meet w/ me and to take me to lunch. Yesterday was a little chaotic. I could not join him for lunch and I was unable to take a lunch at all. He was nice enough to order lunch for me and gave it to me before he left for the day. If you order "loco" then expect to eat your meal there. After 5 hrs, the buns were soggy. It was still good, but it was soggy and very messy to eat. I opted for the chicken frita loco style and ordered their "best snack ever." I am not a coconut person, but I really enjoy coconut curry, so I figured I will try it. Such a delicious combination of flavors. The picture quality was terrible. I did not eat anything all day so I rushed the picture to eat. Their aioli that came w/ the meal (assuming for the fries) was delicious as well. I am not sure if my colleague packed the utensils and napkins, but for once I was able to enjoy a meal w/o having to make frequent trips to the bathroom to wash my hands. The food was excellent and what made this better was knowing my colleague got this for me. A very kind gesture. I don't care how cheap or expensive this place is, but the time and effort was there. Grateful for this wonderful and last dinner in Ann Arbor for me. I fly out today after work and do not plan on eating before my flight. read more

Named after its Cuban philosophy, Frita Batidos rips its street food roots right out of Cuba to the sleepy giant of the Ann Arbor downtown. When you walk in, you'll first notice their stark white cafeteria style seating. Watch out for weekends and rush hour because the line was almost out the door! The menu is a little confusing but ultimately, you have the free option of ordering a frita, a Cuban style burger, and a batidos, a creamy fruity milkshake-like drink that would sit perfectly on a tropical beach. I ordered the beef frita with Muenster cheese and sunny side egg, the passion fruit batido, crisped plaintain chips, and the churros espanol. Service was fast and positive. The food came out so quickly. Be wary, this is not a place to take a first date because it's messy eating! The frita was juicy and flavorful. The patty was beefy and cooked to medium rare perfection. The shoestring fries packed into the sandwich added a nice crisp and starchy bite. There is ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce on the side that you can squeeze to your discretion. Overall solid burger. The batidos was packed with fruity goodness with the right amount of creaminess and sweetness. Addictive! The plantains were slivered and had a great delicate bite. Paired with the cilantro lime salsa, it was a great side item. The churro espanol was a huge surprise. The description stated 3 individual churros but they failed to mention each one was as big as an adult forearm! The churro was deliciously coated in cinnamon sugar with a unique zing of orange zest. It isn't fully to my liking but I appreciate the effort. The chocolate sauce was dark and slightly bitter which paired nicely with the churros. Unfortunately, we found the dessert overall to be too doughy and lacking the essence. Very greasy and filling. Very fun place and would come again read more

Extremely disappointed with takeout order. We've been longtime customers of Frita's and recently ordered takeout. The food arrived with about half the amount that we typically receive. Not worth the price. Won't be coming back. read more

The guy who took our order seemed a bit on the annoyed side when we finally made our way up to the counter to order. Borderline grumpy. Not the best introduction to this restaurant. In my group we had three different burgers, a salad, double fried plantains with and without garlic butter (standard way that are served), the hibiscus lemonade, and a mojito. We all really liked our food, LOVED how quickly it came out, and agreed we would all come back here, hopefully the guy taking the orders will be in a better mood. read more

My first experience at Frita Batido's was taking advantage of their wonderful birthday offer for a free churro on your birthday. This is most definitely NOT your everyday churro. It was as thick as my forearm and probably longer. It was big enough to feed three people with leftovers. There were bits of orange zest in the dough which added some interest to the overall cinnamon sugar flavor. The best part of all was that it was made to order and served warm. As I was waiting for my churro, I saw all of the interesting food being served and lots of Batidos (like a shake). I'm very curious to go back soon and try more of the menu. I loved the casual ambiance of the place too. It had a fun vibe with a box of dominos at each table for people to entertain themselves while they wait for their food. read more

during our midwest trip, we stopped in ann arbor's. the clear local favorite for food on yelp was frita batidos, so we had to make it our first meal. TLDR; tasty burgers, but not exactly sure where the cuban influence fits in. gets pretty pricey as each additional topping is an add-on. tasty, but not sure it is anything extraordinary. usually a line and service is slightly inefficient. the restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. many customers were eating the burgers and batidos. didn't see many bowls or cuban sandwiches. order at the counter and they bring your food to your table (current system of yelling out the customer name and walking around feels inefficient as you sometimes have to get up and flag them down). // coconut batidos ($5.50) // tastes like a vanilla milkshake with coconut mixed in. flavor was good and you could feel the little grits of coconut. a pretty small cup though and mine had some unblended ice at the bottom (presumably unintentional). // beef frita burger with meunster and slaw ($10 + $1.50 + $1.50) // it's probably worth it to splurge and get the "make it loco" as each topping is $1.50 min. and really adds up. bun was a potato brioche bun, soft but toasted. beef patty (medium rare) was decent thickness and juicy. french fries inside the burger had good seasoning but were really salty for me. i liked the meunster cheese inside. the tropical slaw was also good (with some sweetness and fruit inside). my my mom got the avocado topping add on but it was pretty small portion for $2.25 overall, yes it was a good burger. is it something i would dream about and revisit again? probably not, but it was still good to try the local favorite. just seems pretty pricey if you want the toppings. read more

Food (4/5): Burgers are definitely unique and delicious here. There are a variety of options from Chorizo to Chicken to beef as the primary meat and then toppings like avocado spread, egg, bacon, and Jalapeno are available. The burger will also include fries inside the sandwich. The only gripe is that the burger was soggy when you add the toppings and the fries inside the burger sounds fun but isn't practical. The plantains were good and sweet. Venue (5/5): Well decorated restaurant with a relaxing vibe and color scheme. There are plenty of seating and the place is well maintained. Service (5/5): Food came out relatively fast. Basically you wait in a line to order, pay, and then someone will bring your order to you. It's a bit inefficient because the servers have to search the large restaurant to find you. It'd probably just be easier to have people pick up their order from the desk. read more

So yea,, my friend just couldn't shut the eff up about this place. Luckily our friend who was trying to have us meet him at the ramen shop bailed suddenly. This gave us the golden opportunity to try this spot out. Ok food time! Let's goooooo! Eowwwww! Beef Frita: Make it Loco BREH!!! I had this burger medium rare which was perfectly executed. Runny egg was perfect. The fries, guess what, perfect. I tried eating it hand held style which was actually the best way to do it, but it gets pretty darn messy. Although it is soooo worth it. Garlic Cilantro Fries: OMG, this order was phenomenal. That aoli was a perfect accompaniment to one of the best potato sticks that I ever put in my mouth. Definitely get these to share. Plantains: So much perfection going on with these ripe bananas. They're perfect by themselves or dip em on that sauce. Any way you wanna do it, is a darn good idea. Passion Fruit Batido: Absolutely refreshing,, sipped on it a little before since it came before all the food. But I totally saved it for afterwards. The perfect ending to a delicious smash mode. The place is super dope. Very open, minimal and direct to the point. There's a counter where you bark your order. Tell them your name and then pick a communal picnic table afterwards where they'll deliver your food to. There's also a bar area if you'd like to order something boozy. The service was pretty quick. Their staff definitely keeps it moving. So good that we had a darn good time eating here. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Got the beef frita and the garlic cilantro fries. Somewhat underwhelmed. The slider was mediocre and the fries, just tasted like regular fries. THIS PLACE IS SO FREAKING GOOD. I went several years ago, but I believe I only had a drink. So, when I recently had the opportunity to visit again, I went all out. AND DANGGGG. The food was great! Like... making audible sounds because it's so delicious great! The parking and line when you enter may be slightly intimidating, but the employees mostly have it down to a science. The line moved quickly, and we were able to find a spot to sit without a problem. My drink (hibiscus batido) was absolutely wonderful. And the plantains and frita were YUM YUM YUM. Bread: thin crust fried with butter Cheese: melt with thick roasted pork Pickle: mini cucumber are juicy and crunchy, not salty, not over-soured, like a secret weapon of their Cuban sandwich, giving you an unexpected punch, the moment you get to it, you will wonder "hmmm, what's this" "wait, is it the pickle" " one more bite to feel it"...... (4.5 stars) Clearly one of the most popular spots in Ann Arbor and rightfully so, because it's super tasty. The menu is super enticing, and not too expensive. Love how the Fritas come with fries on them already, kinda fun including them in each bite. Was a big fan of the chicken, especially after adding some jalapeños on top. You'll probably need a side to feel completely full afterwards. I'd go for the rice, which was vibrant and fresh with the peppers mixed in. I wouldn't go for the black beans though, they were the only disappointing part of the meal, heavier and much more oil than I had anticipated. read more

Still a favorite in Ann Arbor, Frita Batidos always has what I'm craving. The Batidos are so creamy and aren't heavy, so it doesn't weigh you down. The burgers are flavorful as always, and no matter what option of burger you get, the result will always taste good. I got a chicken today, and it was so juicy and flakey. I love that they always add fries to the burger, and it just feels like a side of fries rather than as a part of the burger. great food, get the make it loco. The garlic cilantro fries are great as well. The service is great.

What can I say about Frita's. If my Yelp check-in count is correct, I have eaten here 43 times (over the past 8 years). Frita's has (in my very scientific ranking) my second favorite burger on the planet (after Redcoat). Even the mistakes have been great. One time I wanted the tropical slaw and accidentally received a burger with guac on it, and I wasn't even angry because it was delicious. There's no way to go wrong at Frita's. Whether you're coming for a full meal, a drink, or a late-nite dessert, Frita's has you covered. When asked by friends what my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor is, Frita's has topped the list for years. The burger is juicy, the bun is of high quality, and the base toppings (sweet chili Mayo and fries) give you an automatic winner right from the start. Pair that with a side of the garlic cilantro fries, which come with an aioli as well, and you have a great meal. If you're interested in a batido, I am a huge fan of their passion fruit batido. I'm sure the other ones are great too, but I just love the passion fruit one so much I can never try a new one. Had it spiked once as well with their "splash of dark rum," and that was great too. If you're getting dessert, the churros and chocolate are wonderful, especially for sharing. All that is to say, if you're looking for a consistently excellent meal in the heart of Ann Arbor, look n further than Frita Batido's. You won't be disappointed. read more

The picnic style seating that only encourages group discussions about the monster random things.
