I'm not typically a fan of fancy coffees with french or Italian names. I'm a simple guy that can appreciate a cup of finely roasted and brewed cup. I noticed this place with a great aroma coming out the door while passing by. I got a regular brewed coffee which came out to be a bit over $3 which was slightly higher than average price. The coffee I thought was decent, but not better than Pret a Manger or even Starbucks. In the super competitive coffee scene in Manhattan either the price has to be better or the coffee has to be clearly superior and I can't say it has either. The store feels very cozy and a great place to hang out with my coffee pondering existential questions. read more

Such a hidden gem! Off of 8th Avenue, it's a small coffee shop. Though there aren't that many seats, it'd definitely be a cozy place to study or do work if you could snag a seat. I got a 20oz iced vanilla latte with an extra shot and the raspberry scone.The coffee is strong, smooth, but not bitter. The scone tasted amazing warmed up, and it wasn't too sweet which I loved. The only downside would be the prices. It's much more expensive than Starbucks which is already expensive in itself. My total for my latte + the scone was $11. Though it's not somewhere I can see myself coming to everyday, I definitely will go when I wanna steer away from the regular Starbucks. read more

Not a huge fan of coffee, but the mocha latte here was really yummy. Good portion, just the right amount of sweetness, and just enough coffee to keep me up. There's no public restrooms, but there's a decent amount of seating with outlets. Will definitely go here again if I'm in the area and need a quiet place to sit and work. read more

Stopped in Frisson Espresso during a short stay in NYC and was looking for something off the tourist areas. Found this small gem based on Yelpers. Had great service by Lehorah and James and the cappuccino was as good as any I've had in Europe. Cool small place with local vibe in Hell's Kitchen area. read more

As a strong lover of cafés and quality Espresso beverages, Frisson sure did hit the spot! Before actually tasting any of their products, the interior of the cafe itself won me over. The hardwood floors, teeny stools alibg the window front and side, and a few tables and chairs for larger groups. Lighting is calming, wifi is reliable, it was an awesome setup :) Ended up getting a cortado, Espresso (which comes as a double shot) and one of their widely yelped about raspberry scones. The cortado was perfect! The velvety flavour of the milk combined with the espresso wasn't too overpowering, and most certainly went down smoothly. Plus, the barista worked his latte art magic and made a cute swan haha :D The scone was great as well! A little crumbly, tarty flavour, and a little moist/dense on the inside....which is a nice change from a typical dry scone texture. Wandered into this coffee shop tucked away in the corner while in the area. It's super cute and very small so I was surprised that it was so crowded. But we also went on a Sunday afternoon so that might be why. Despite the crowd, there was a good amount of people just chilling and doing work on laptops. I got an skim milk latte and the espresso was really strong! It has the kind of latte where you take a sip and you know it's a serious. Don't know if I'd ever go out of my way to come here since it's so far but 5/5 stars for a coffee shop! read more

Because it is a high quality delicious and amazing espresso bar. They offer local milk as well as soy and almond alternatives. The staff are friendly and quick. The area is quiet and you get a nice sense of neighborhood feel without the touristy side effects 2 blocks away. read more

What a delight! The Kough Amann (pastries) were fantastic! A must try for any sweet tooth. My girlfriend and I enjoyed caramel and vanilla lattes which were made to perfection. Bold and rich made with the right amount of sweetness. The staff was really welcoming and helpful! read more

Small shop but very homy feeling. I got a quad espresso shot over ice and they got it to me pretty quickly. It was not bad but seemed cloudy compared to normal. I saw coffee grinds in there which make me think that they didn't pull the shot properly. Overall though, I'd come again. read more

I came in twice on a short visit to midtown and got for-here lattes both times. Very tasty, beautifully crafted, and reasonably priced. The baristas here are nice and make you feel comfortable, and not in a scripted, forced manner. Has New York changed? Or is this place just really unique for the area? read more

I am so happy to find this cute place secretly hidden in the middle of street. It was cold and raining and early. And you cared for me. My wife and I had a long weekend trip to the city and stayed at an AirBNB a few doors down. I passed it during our musings and bookmarked this sweet little place in my head. Woke up this morning and walked down here for a quick cup. They weren't quite open but let me in anyways with warm smiles. I ordered two simple drinks and was engulfed by the inviting and peaceful getaway. Smooth jazz and warm wood trim. The latte was exquisite. Truly the best I've ever had. What a treat. I didn't know I could like coffee more than I did before, but now I know. Awesome place for coffee in the theatre district. We were looking for a good cup of joe from a local coffee joint. Thanks to Yelp, we found this little gem. The place is a little, but damn near every local joint in New York, is on the cozy side. It absolutely works for this place. The decor is straight coffee shop, but not in a chain commercial type of way. The bartistas are super cool, great personalities, fun, outgoing, and great personal taste and style. And oh yeah, did I mention they make a kick ass cup of joe? I had a cafe latte with an extra shot of espresso and it was pure heaven. I love coffee, and there is a lot of average coffee out there, this place serves exceptional coffee. If you want a good cup of coffe, you found your place. Love this place on my first visit! I'm in midtown all the time, and it's hard to find anything besides your standard Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. This place is a hidden gem, so I hope it continues to be a local secret. They have decaf iced coffee which I really appreciate. It's harder to find. It's flavorful, but not burnt or overstrong. The baked goods looked delicious, though I didn't have one this time. The drinks are definitely fancy coffee prices, but I'm sure it's worth it. The barista was very friendly and fun. He seemed to know everyone who came in. There's a few interesting paintings to decorate. The best feature is the copious amount of indirect daylight filtering in through a large window. This place is just far enough from the bustle of Times Square to not be heavily impacted by waves of tourists...which would definitely drown this cafe, considering how small it is and how understaff it seemed for a Sunday morning. Seriously, major props to the barista who was quite the one-woman-show. Even though it was just her working, the line of customers waiting to order/waiting for their drinks never seemed to extend past 2-3 people at a time. I was really impressed by how quick - yet responsive - she was to customer needs! There is plenty of seating along the counter, but if you want a table, there are not that many available. I like the attention to detail they paid to the design of the space, including the power strip that they installed along the benches to allow for more outlets and the interesting artwork that they had on the walls. Frisson is definitely worth the extra few blocks walk, if you are looking for a coffee shop in the area and do not want to go to Starbucks! read more

Cannele, must-try!! This place opened recently between 8th and 9th ave, and I finally gave a try this Sunday late afternoon. I asked a barista to recommend few good pastries, and he named cannele first without hesitation. He kindly offered to heat it up, saying "Cannele is good when it's warm :)" Yes, it was so soft and tender - perfect pair with espresso. Other pastries (scones, small pecan pie, etc) seemed yammy too. I'll definitely come back tomorrow morning before heading to my office - to pick up my morning pastries with americano! read more

Cute small shop with beautiful wooden touches that give a real cozy feel, especially on a cold day. The cappuccino is excellent here and absolutely "third-wave" style in terms of quality and presentation. Staff is friendly. Frisson Espresso is a great option in Hell's Kitchen to grab a coffee and a pastry. I found the service quite friendly and the coffee great in taste. This coffee shop is quite small however there is sufficient seating options. It can get quite busy but if you can find a couple seats it is a good place to bring a friend for coffee and some conversation. I will surely be back for my caffeine fix. read more

A small space right off 47th. The ambiance is cool. We ordered a breve cortado and am 8 ounce cappuccino. The breve cortado was good but a bit too warm. I was worried that the beans would taste burned. The cappuccino was also served in a bigger cup, and so the taste was a but diluted. But both cups tasted ok. The beans tasted rich (slightly acidic but still silky). I recommend this place as a moment to pause but not to read your nytimes. It's too noisy (+music) for that. All in all, check this place out! Definitely a good crema pause. read more

A gem in the neighbourhood. Come here for a delicious variety of milk-based coffee. Their cappuccino, latte, cortado and hot chocolates are all delicious. If only there were more coffee spots like this in mid town west. The cappuccinos have a perfect creamy froth with the right amount of coffee kick. The hot chocolate is creamy and smooth. The latte is milkier than the cappuccino, as it should be. Both the latte and the hot chocolate come in larger quantities and mugs than the cappuccinos. The atmosphere is small and cozy. All the flavors were so yummy! The outside of the pastry was crunchy and delicious. The inside was soft, creamy and melted in your mouth. There are coffee and tea items to order and other merch. Inside of the cafe was quaint and quite busy. There are tables and chairs with fun decor. The Llama is very cute. I will return to try other pastries.

The 2 Everything pastries were filled with what looked like spinach and cheese. Incredible when reheated, but I wish they were served warm. The cinnamon roll was good, but not standout. The pain au chocolat was tender and flaky. Some of the seasonal drinks, like the Grinch, looked really good and I'd come back to try one, but I likely wouldn't swing for a pastry this time.

It also had a chalky aftertaste which I couldn't look past. For ~$9, I expected much more. Overall, the flavor profile is promising but the execution was off.

For over 10 years I've been an avid coffee drinker. I've been to Café Grumpy, B.Bottle, Stumptown, Irv. Farm, you name it, I've been there! However, I've never felt more inclined to give a coffee shop a yelp review that is until I started coming to Frisson. The staff here cares as much about the service as they do the espresso. One of the baristas brought my cappuccino and warm apple cardamom over to my window seat as I waited for a friend! Also, I love that they are so transparent as far as their pastry sources. It's great to know what you're paying for. I'm no stranger to Bien Cuit Bakery (they are delicious). I also love the mini pecan pies that Frisson serves from Las Delicias Bakery (well known for their gluten free options). Although my 9-5 is super exciting (ha), coming here is truly a highlight of my work week. I cannot ask for better quality, overall. I am working on my second loyalty card!!! read more

This is by far the best coffee shop in this neighborhood. I have tried their second location located at 3rd ave and my experience was amazing and therefore I was around hells kitchen neighborhood and decided to stop by at 47th st and again, I was delighted. This latte was superb and I just cant wait to go back. Thanks to the great baristas at Frisson Espresso I was able to enjoy a delicious latte with a special design for valentines day. This place is fairly close to Times Square but didn't scream as a tourist trap so we picked this for our morning coffee. The baristas are efficient and get your order to you quickly but I was fairly disappointed by my vanilla latte overall. The taste of any vanilla syrup was lacking and the latte had very little consistency. The service was good and the space is nice but with the amount of good coffee in NYC, I probably won't be returning. read more

I came here to check out the latte art because my friends always come here and tell me about it, I usually stick to Starbucks Frappuccinos but decided to come and see what the hype was about , after coming here and ordering a almond vanilla latte I was mind blown to see that the barista do his magic with steamed almond milk into the cup , I surely recommend this place if you want a phenomenal latte with beautiful latte art on it read more

Came to Frisson Espresso for a coffee with a friend and it was delicious. The space was pretty small but there were plenty of seats. I had a latte which came with some beautiful art and my friend had a black tea. The only downside was that the music was a little loud and not something I wanted to listen to while drinking some coffee and chatting. Other than that. It was fun. read more

This is a great little coffee shop. It's small and cozy inside, with seating for about 10 to 15 people. The staff was friendly, which made the visit even better. My oat latte was strong and flavorful, and the chai latte was nicely spiced and delicious. The only thing I'd change next time is asking for my drink to be extra hot. We dropped by at Frisson to have a late afternoon coffee before going back to airport and we found the place very amazing! I would say pretty small place for a big market but it look cool and relaxing with a large crowd. I ordered a machiatto and I paired it with blue almond MUFFIN and I was so pleased and happy!! We feel in love with this place whilst we spent a week in New York. We visited most mornings the staff made us feel so welcome and by our second visit they knew our order. For coffee lovers this is a place everyone must visit! All variables of espresso are available and while I really enjoyed me double espresso, I would recommend you to try the cappuccino too! It was just amazing. It is not a study/work place to hang out but the people working there, they are really helpful and friendly. read more

What a charming little coffee shop. Latte is so rich, satisfyingly tasty. The decor is minimalist but offers an excellent view of the street. I have been to New York many times and never seem to have found the place to enjoy the perfect cup of coffee. Well, I am glad to have had the Frisson Espresso experience! The latte was perfect.
