Within just a few hours of a scheduled maintenance visit, I noticed that my home was getting unusually hot. I went into the attic to check and found that one of my HVAC units was no longer working and that water was dripping in an area where it shouldn't have been. I immediately contacted AC Works. They returned, inspected the unit, and told me that the motor had failed. When I asked what could have caused it, I was told that a power surge had blown the motor. Fortunately, I have a Ting electrical monitoring device that continuously monitors electrical activity in my home. I checked the history for the period following the technician's visit, and there was no recorded power surge. Naturally, I questioned the explanation. The unit stopped working only hours after routine maintenance, and the stated reason did not appear consistent with the information available from my electrical monitoring system. I wanted to understand what actually happened. My intention in asking questions was not simply to assign blame. If something went wrong with the system, I need to understand the actual cause so that I can prevent the same failure from happening again. If the cause really was electrical, I would want to address that. If it was mechanical or related to something else, I would want to address that instead. Giving a homeowner an accurate explanation matters because it affects what corrective action should be taken. What disappointed me most was the response when I questioned the power-surge explanation. Instead of addressing my concern with a clear technical explanation, the conversation became defensive, and I was told that I was being rude. Equipment can fail, and mistakes can happen. I can accept that. What I find much harder to accept is an explanation that doesn't appear to match the available evidence, followed by defensiveness when a customer asks reasonable questions about it. After being a customer for a couple of years, I expected transparency and a professional explanation of what actually happened. I am still interested in understanding the true cause--not only because of what happened this time, but because I want to make sure it does not happen again.

The thermostat was reading 98 degrees in the living room. Called our regular AC company only to get an answering machine so I Called C.A.S. which is local and explained our situation. They had a technician at my house within 30 minutes. After checking my AC unit and determing it had plenty of Freon, he went up into the attic and found recently replaced Duckwork (by anothet AC company) had slipped off of the AC unit in the attic which was causing our AC not to cool the house. He indicated the new duckwork installed last year was too short and the installer had stretched it to the max which eventually caused the duckwork to seperate from the AC unit. He replaced about 6 ft of Duckwork, cleaned the grill on the outside AC unit and we were back in business with nice cool air

Ryan fixed an issue I inherited when I bought a house in Hunters Ridge with a two-zone AC setup. I…read morethought it was either bad wiring or a bad board. Ryan was able to quickly diagnose the problem and fix it by putting the correct wire on the correct terminal. No parts required. I don't know if any other repair tech would have been so honest. This existing miss-wiring was causing costly problems in the house due to high humidity because the blower was running continuously. It could have easily caused at least $100 a month in more damage. As it was, it already has cost me several thousand in damages due to high humidity over the years before I bought the house. For example, drywall was coming off the wall, and any metal parts in sinks (not recently replaced) were corroded or rusted out. Thank you Ryan!
