So I was so excited to see them at the Bernalillo County Sugar Skull Fun Run this past weekend. I had to be there super early so I decided to grab a hot chocolate and yumm! It was exactly what a hot chocolate should be, sugary and creamy sweetness. I was the only one in line when I ordered because it was before the event officially started but either way they were super quick and friendly. I am not much of an early morning eater otherwise I would have tried a sweet treat as well, hopefully I will see them around again in the future so I can try a cupcake or something. The hot chocolate made great hand-warmer because it was definitely chilly outside the NHCC. Such a fun event!

A glance at the menu made it easy for me: coffee & pastry. I opted for a pumpkin spice latte and a pumpkin cream cheese muffin. The latte wasn't bitter or overpowering with the spice it was a mellow drink. The muffin was delicious, even waiting until after dinner. It was moist and made just right, the taste was excellent. I like coconut but it didn't really taste like much of anything at all. My friend got the blue raspberry which also tasted like coconut and not much of anything at all. She also got half lemon, and the lemon was pretty good but all selections lacked flavor unfortunately. I know this sounds ridiculous but my biggest issue outside of the flavor was the sizing, the cup was HUGE and I ordered a small. I didn't see a smaller sizing option on the menu, it was almost $9 with tip for the smallest gelati. Of course I didn't finish not only because of the size but because of the flavoring. We walked in and WE greeted the employee first who was on their phone sitting at the chair behind the counter - just for her to not respond at all and peel herself out of her chair as if we just interrupted her evening. At that point I was already over it just because she was the only employee there and we did not feel welcome. We immediately grabbed a couple of items we had known we wanted from there and proceeded to go pay right away. The vibe was so uncomfortable I didn't even feel like I could browse other items we were excited to look at. My total was 31 dollars for an ice cream and a pastry. That wasn't even the problem. I was just trying to try something new but was let down even more just by the girl who sold me the items with what looked like pure misery. So not only was the ice cream pure BUNS so was the service. Lost out on a good time more than anything. BOO to you this October 1st! not to pop pops itself but to who ever the fuck that RBF torta who was left unattended and sadly in charge. We drove by this spot while looking for parking so we could walk around and check out some of the…read morestores in this old town Albuquerque area & it looked so adorable, I wanted to check it out. After visiting a few of the other stores we made our way over to La Choco Salty & Sweet to grab a quick sweet to eat and support a local shop. From the outside it looks like just a chocolate shop, but the sweets section is just a small area up front and the rest of the store is tourist type products to buy like clothing, knick-knacks, etc. The sweets area is cute, they have a little cafe type area set up for a few people to sit and they have all the chocolates on display. Most of the treats look pretty good, but the prices are a bit high for some of the things. We generally enjoy grabbing a few truffles when visiting sweet spots like this so we selected four truffles to try. They do not have clear pricing in the case for the truffles nor do they provide any kind of hint to what is inside of some of them aside from the name of the truffle. I had asked the woman working what was inside one or two of them and she seemed annoyed I asked. We ended up getting the four we picked out anyway, and I was kind of bummed afterward. Not only were they $3+ EACH but they tasted like they had sat in the display case for several days. They were a bit hard, stale and didn't really have a lot of flavor to them so I was a little upset we had spent about $17 here on five things of chocolate that weren't really anything to write home about.
