I came to Frigo's with my husband because it was recommended to us by a dealership employee nearby. We liked the atmosphere and decided to grab some lunch and some cheese & crackers (they were the fancy kind you find in Little Italy, sort of). I ordered the veggie lasagna, and as soon as I sat down outside to eat it, I realized it had chicken in it! I'm vegetarian, so this mattered to me. I went back inside, told them, and the apologized profusely and exchanged it for the pasta salad (pasta bows, mozz balls, arugula, shredded parm, roasted red peppers, and kalamata olives). All in all, I thought the pasta salad was delicious, the place is cool, and I'd come back despite the chicken glitch. If there's one type of restaurant that I wish existed down South its the Italian Deli. Whenever I'm visiting the northeast I seek these places out with a vengeance. Frigo is among the best I've found. Amazing assortment of Italian dinner classics ready to take home to "make it a Frigo night." There's an awesome selection of sandwiches to choose from too, although it's easier to look at the paper laminated menu hanging from the display case than try and take in the enormous chalk board above the deli case. The meats are such high quality and all cut fresh. The bread is chewy and perfect. Forget chips, get a side of pasta salad or some olives. Just a great experience. read more

This place had the potential to get a better rating. I ordered a sandwich called Smokey and the bandit. On the menu it said black forest ham and smoked turkey with Munster cheese sounded good. I am not from this area I was visiting a customer. Now on my way back to NY I bite into my sandwich and see its regular turkey and regular ham the Munster cheese is right.I called back the girl who made my sandwich said that they don't have Black forest ham or smoked turkey. So she uses regular turkey and regular ham without saying a thing to me about it. They should just print a new menus or take it off and say no longer available. Very disappointing I wonder where else they use the same practice in the food preparation ???? I'm sure the person that named the sandwich, smokey and the bandit knows the movie. It would be like the bandit showing up after going through all that effort with just beer and not the Coors. Maybe they can bring me the right sandwich in less than four hours! read more

very cute store with a huge selection of ready to go foods along with supplies to take home and create your own meals. split the original italian sub - it was to die for. one of the best i've ever had. the bread and meats had a lot of flavor and the olive oil they use had such a strong, delicious flavor that you could actually taste up front. the giant pickles are delicious as well. great, reasonable prices. glad i stumbled upon this looking for lunch spots when i was in town wednesday. read more

Many would not make an hour drive to check out an Italian Deli. I on the other hand will not only make the drive but, will also plan a trip back in the near future with Frigos being as delicious as it was. I purchased what I like to refer to as some Now and Laters (not the candy =p) but, a sandwich to eat there and one for the road. The Italian combo which I designed featured savory Boars Head meats, sharp provolone, crisp veggies (lettuce and tomatoes) also flavorful red peppers all piled on top of a soft grinder roll. Living in Enfield we get Frigos fairly often. My wife just had our little girl Wednesday morning at baystate so yesterday at 5:50pm I called Frigos to get something to eat other than hospital food. I forget who I spoke with but I explained I knew they closed in 10 minutes and asked if I could still swing by for some great food. She told me it was no problem at all and if the doors were locked when I got there to give them a call and they would let me in. I got the chicken broccoli Alfredo and my wife got the dirty Italian so when I got there at 5:58pm everything was all set. No only did she discount my chicken broccoli Alfredo, but she also made me an extra Italian for when I got hungry in the middle of the night. Frigos is such a staple in this area and this is EXACTLY why. The staff is unbelievably friendly and the food is fantastic. I highly suggest anyone that's never been, to go get something from there ASAP. Restaurants that take care of their customers like this are few and far between these days and I am so lucky to live 15 minutes away. When I finally made it here after organizing a company "Frigo's Friday" after my brother telling me about it, I kicked myself for not going sooner. Basically, my brother is a bastard for not accurately conveying the sheer awesomeness of this deli. Can I even call it a deli? The place is so unassuming from the outside but should really have rainbows and dollar bills and other awesome shit like rock candy and puppies and little baby bunnies shooting out of its windows. The display case is PACKED with options. The food is made fresh every day and it all looks so good! When I go in there I often panic by the time its time to order and end up just kind of pointing and grunting at something until the woman sticks it in a bag and hands it to me. Nothing looks unappetizing. From all tentacle squid salad to antipasto to the Kickin CHicken sandwich or a crowd favorite The Torpedo... its alll good. The owner always hands out free samples of cheese and is a super friendly dude. He made me feel like family my first time in there. This place is my new joint. It rivals that of any Italian deli I have ever been to, NYC and Boston included. Thank you Frigo's. Thank you. As a side note I think its important to mention that when the tornado hit Springfield, my brother ran down there like a bat out of hell with fear in his eyes and a fire in his step. My New-England-bred husband loved his lobster mac and cheese. Thanks, Frigo's! It's a good thing Frigo's is a 100-minute drive from my house or I would eat lunch there almost daily. I discovered Frigo's while driving to upstate New York from Providence. Near Springfield I used Yelp to find a lunch spot and figured that Frigo's reviews were worth a 15-minute detour. Thanks, fellow Yelpers, for leading me to a true GEM. I had a medium size meatball sub with hot peppers and loved it; it tasted like someone's Sicilian grandmother had made it, and left me feeling satisfied without feeling sleepy. I also liked the young folks working there - it gave Frigo's a nice family vibe. I returned on Saturday on my way home and arrived 20 minutes before closing. I was helped without being rushed and my food was half-off because closing for the weekend was upon us. Lucky me! My husband enjoyed his lobster mac and cheese (he says it was rich and an interesting combination of flavors; he liked it and hadn't had anything quite like it before) I brought home, and the spicy penne was great. We're glad to have leftovers, and look forward to another stop at Frigo's on a future road trip. read more

I was very impressed with Frigo for my first visit. The fresh prime rib carving station was a nice surprise, and the shear number of prepared options and sandwiches on the board was overwhelming. Factor in all the desserts, snacks, and wines on the shelves around the store and you can find anything you need for lunch or a quick take-home dinner. I planned on only eating half of the sandwich and saving the rest for dinner, but that didn't happen and I don't even feel bad about it :) They seemed to be short-staffed for a Friday lunch rush, but our sandwiches were delicious so I really can't complain. The cheese and wine tasting station was a little pushy, especially with someone sitting there telling everyone about the different types of cheese as we were in line to pay for our orders. Found this place on Yelp during a day trip to Springfield. I was looking for a great Italian cold grinder, and did I find it in their Howie's "The Bomb" grinder. Customized it slightly by adding roasted red peppers, sweet sopressata, evo and balsamic. I'll call it Howie's "The Super Bomb"! It was better than any cold Italian sub I've ever had, even in South Boston or my native Little Italy NYC. I'm a retired chef, and I never thought of putting roast beef on a sub with all those Italian cold cuts. Then with Asiago cheese and arugula, this grinder was over the top. When I got home and shared this sandwich with my wife, we both agreed, next time I bring home two. I live an hour away in an Italian deli desert and Frigo's has just become a food destination for me! Two hours round trip is well worth what Frigo's has to offer. Can't wait to try all of their other prepared foods. I'm envisioning bringing home a freezer full the next time I go. This place is amazing, no questions about it. The staff is always very helpful and provide the best service. Although the line can sometimes be out the door, it moves quickly. The selection of food to-go (eggplant parm, pasta, salads) is fantastic. There is a side dish to go with anything and even complete meals! We often stop in on the way home to buy something to do with out dinner. We also love the sandwiches. I almost always get the veal parm on a water roll. The veal is always cooked perfectly. It is tasty. My husband usually gets the carnivore on a half vienna roll. The sandwich is huge and very well priced! He raves about how great it is. We love it here! read more

Absolutely, love Frigos.. Food is always fantastic and the personnel are pleasant and knowledgeable. The customer service is the 1st impression (which is outstanding/exceptional) and the second is the quality and taste of the food (top notch/lots of love put into the dinners). The desserts are incredible (Lemoncello cake - must try). My family has had many meals from Frigos. Several times I have come in and taken out three / four dinners packaged for travel - and enjoyed them in Maine. If you are in the area - you must stop by and have lunch (Fantastic Grinders) of a dinner entrée (they can heat it up for you).
