This place is awesome. They did the work at a quarter of the cost quoted to me by the dealership and did it right. James is obviously a very busy guy and clearly enjoys taking the time to have conversations with his customers so they understand the issues and the associated costs. When I couldn't make it into their shop on a previous car, James talked me through the issues and willingly provided a second opinion on the appropriateness of the price for work he was not delivering. I was asking James about the costs to put new wheels and tires on my car. He let me know what it would be; but at the end of the conversation he told me that what I already have is high quality and it may not make the best sense financially to do that type of change until it's needed. Every interaction I have with this place has demonstrated that Friends Auto feels a responsibility to me as a person and to deriving the best value out of my vehicle as opposed to simply charging me for a service. It doesn't take long to get a sense for the high level of integrity this shop has. read more

Someone recommended James to my wife about 5 years ago. We've been taking our cars there and no where else ever since. We've recommended Friends Auto to several more people who love him as well. James will tell you what's wrong, tell you if you REALLY need something fixed right away and then he will shop around trying to find you the least expensive parts. Two brief stories about James: 1. one time instead of spending $150 to for a package deal when I only needed one part, James MADE the part for my car and saved me $100. Worked like a charm. 2. My 10 year old car started needing more and more little things done to it. They started adding up. One repair would have cost $400 and I asked James if it was worth it or should I invest in a newer car. James just kind of looked at me until I figured it out. haha. He knows he can't predict the future but he won't steer you wrong either. I went ahead and invested in a newer car. Take you car here people. read more

I had an exhaust manifold that another shop 'repaired'. The repair failed and the manifold was loose and making a terrible noise. After reading yelp reviews - I decided to go to Friends. I crashed into Friends (figuratively) at 745 on a Monday morning desperate for a repair. I walked to the door and saw the 'Appointment Only' sign - not good... James diagnosed the loose manifold and said he could get to it. James worked me into his schedule (it took only an hour). They fixed the dangling manifold FOR FREE! He said, 'Don't worry about it - we only tightened 2 bolts' - incredible. (I honestly think he was entertained: asking how and why the other shop fixed the manifold the way that they did) - sort of relishing at the other shop's, shall we say, 'approach'... I never write reviews. This was above and beyond. (As I'm driving a 2007 Jeep Wrangler there will be plenty of opportunity for repeat business!) read more

Jamie is an absolute sweetheart back in may i had to get an emissions done on my truck that my father in law had given me well we went to another center and they failed the truck and wanted to charge $90 just to tell me why the check engine light was on and then they would discuss how much it was to fix the problem after that so i called Friends Auto on the recommendation of a friend and Jamie stated no charge to check the truck and the only thing i would be charged for was the fixing of the problem if i chose to get it fixed there....30 minutes later Jamie had diagnosed the problem free of charge and offered to fix the truck for less than $500 and he would have it done the next day....WOOT Jamie you are my hero and I will always check with you first anytime my truck messes up. read more

I don't think 5 stars is ample when rating Friends Auto. I am a single female that was looking for a honest mechanic with integrity and when I started reading all these compliments given to Friends Auto I had to check it out for myself. I had a very long list of problems to be fixed (too long to give all the details) and James had recommended I buy another car because how costly it would be to get it all fixed. I bought my car new in 2004 and was very adamant I will not go back into debt so I dropped for car off the day on a Saturday and when I drove off I felt like I was driving a new car again. I still have more work to be done and will be taking my car back there in the near future. Kudos to all of you at Friends Auto!!! read more

James is probably the nicest, and most honest mechanic that you will ever meet. Their schedule can be very busy at times, but that just shows how amazing of a shop he runs. They also try to get their customer's in and out in a timely manner, so that their customer's don't have to spend an entire day waiting on their car. This is a family owned business that truly cares and puts the customer first. You will get nothing but great smiles, friendly people, and good honest work/pricing from start to finish. Friends Auto, please keep up the great work! read more

James is the best. I have 5, yes 5 used cars, we have 3 young adults that are driving! James keeps us all running without charging us an arm and a leg. He always gives us great suggestions about anything that goes wrong how we can save money. He is honest, trustworthy and I would highly recomend him to anyone! We have been going to him for the last 2 years. Super friendly and he really does remember who you are when you call him on the phone to schedule and appointment. We have had many repairmen over the years and he is the BEST! read more

What can I say about this Guy and his crew. He is cool minded but sharp with his knowledge in cars. He is honest too. Most mechanic shops aren't. I got introduced to him by a tire shop next door. I had some issue in my car and wanted to see if a mechanic can take a look quickly. So from there on the story of trustworthiness, ethical, sincere, knowledgeable, money saver etc etc starts. I am big time fan of this James. I drive 30 minutes to see him for oil change or any issues. Awesome place Awesome people Saves your time and money read more

Indeed a great business. I brought in my beat up Chevy truck for an oil leak. James cleaned up the area where the leak was and showed me in person what the problem is. He honestly discussed with me the possible outcomes and costs. He did not try to push me into an unnecessary expense, or sell me a half fix without warning me. The car is beyond repair, cost effective repair that is. If you need an honest mechanic, you got one here. The rest of the crew was friendly and they have free Wi-Fi as well. read more

Absolutely great that we found them. Great service, wonderful personalities, and finally I feel like they are folks I can trust with my car, and not rip me off. So tired of taking my car to places and trying so hard to trust them, and being ripped off. Here, I actually feel comfortable taking my car and having him do their magic. Thank you for fixing my daughters car, and my wifes car. And I plan on bringing my car in as well. I highly recommend Friends Auto. read more

You know that feeling when you leave the mechanic and you ask yourself, "Did I just get robbed?" Definitely did not have that after going to Friend's. I felt like I just had a buddy work on my car for me. I went in expecting a $500 job (I did my research) and it was only $200. I now have a mechanic I can trust. Make sure you call ahead of time and schedule an appointment. They were pretty busy...I know why. read more

After a miserable dealership experience, a friend referred me to James and Friends Auto. I could not have been in better hands. You wouldn't think that level of service, honesty and value could be found in such an industry. Just goes to show you that you don't have to take advantage of people to turn a profit. James was booked out two weeks when I called! I would have waited four. Thanks James! read more

Our fan belt shredded today, an hour south of Atlanta, at 1:45. My husband had AAA tow the vehicle to Friends Auto in Duluth, and IT WAS FIXED BY 5:45. These folks have always been fantastic with our vehicle repairs, and their pricing is more than fair. We're very grateful to the woman who first referred us to them a few years ago, and James and Rose have always made us happy customers. read more

As well, he displays professionalism and humor as he thoroughly explains the issue and the fix. Rose is a gracious and perfect face/brand for a stellar business. It's very difficult to find a good local auto service garage that you can trust, and I believe Friends Auto fits the bill. They diagnosed and fixed a perplexing transmission issue on my old S10 pickup truck and did so quickly and at a very reasonable price. They are by appointment only and for good reason. They are that good. read more

Kind and honest. Checked my Pontiac and explained it to me when I need to replace parts for the car. They didn't charge anything for checking the problem I had. I can truely trust them and will go back when I need a service for my car in the future. It's very rare to receive this kind of service from anywhere. Thanks a lot. read more
