when calling the restaurant they said they would be able to seat a party of 10+ and upon arrival was shut down due to race. The excuse was they weren't able to take us due to only 2 people working through out the whole store but the store had a good 5-6 tables filled. Ofc with only the costumers of there kind. then while on the phone with the manager he blamed it all on the general manager and was very rude and didn't care at all about the childs birthday party dinner being spoiled. Customer service was poor. Closed at 10pm. I went in around 8:50pm. They refused to seat me in the dining room stating it was closed at 9. First it was 8:50. My family and I visited this location today. I grew up on Friendly's and was excited to bring my kids since we were in town. We came in today with 8 people total. The restaurant wasn't busy as there was just one other table. The menu had all the old faves, but the service was pretty darn slow. We got some lunch and then ice cream and it took over 2 hours from start to finish. I am not sure why it was so slow since we saw several people serving and there was never more than three tables in that 2 hours. They also never cleared anything, so we had all the empty plates, cups and dirty silverware still on the table when they brought our ice cream. We scraped and stacked it for them, but it still sat. There's been a few times when I've gone here for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday and they only have one or two servers on, making there be a wait time. But oh men today was my last straw to not go back to this place I was giving to many opportunities to this place but not anymore worse customer service they are not friendly or courteous what's so ever no matter how friendly I was. my order was never right, no matter how specific or just picking directly from the menu I was always not happy and the attitude they gave after I tell them my ice cream order was not right and omg that argument over a $ 10 ice cream not worth it at all. This friendly's location robbed me for 40$!! I placed an online order for breakfast and drive there only to find out that they are CLOSED.. but surely had no problem chargingy card!!! After talking to the manager later that day I was assured I'd be refunded in 2-4 days.. over a week now and still nothing. 40$ might not be a lot of money for some but I'm not letting this go until I get refunded.. Both my wife and I had the all American cheeseburger with fries and we were impressed. Very tasty and fresh. Our granddaughter had the Mac and cheese kids meal. She ate it and I help. lol. The staff were polite, friendly and humble. They also informed us of the (great) upcoming changes starting tomorrow. We are excited about that. Not to mention that school will be over in a week and my wife and I will be coming here more often. Lord willing. (Wished they would serve breakfast. This place is just....awful. I arrived here at 4:45 today and told the hostess that we would be a party of 9. She told me that she would seat us when everyone arrived. My party had a miscommunication and they arrived around 5:30. We we're not seated until 5:45. By the way, there was no one at the table the entire time- they had 45 minutes to wipe the table down and yet it took them an extra 15 minutes AFTER the party arrived. We did not leave Friendly's until 7:45. Two hours for our meals to be served!!! The service was just awful. In addition, the food was horrible. Came here with my boyfriend as we spent the Easter weekend in Plainville, Connecticut. This was my first time EVER at a Friendly's and I have to chuckle when I saw "Happy Endings" sundaes on the menu because...yanno...I'm 12 ;-). We had already had a delicious and filling lunch but wanted something to satisfy our sweets cravings afterwards and he knew I had NEVER been to a Friendly's so off we went! I ordered a 2 scoop "Happy Endings" Sundae with 1 scoop of Oreo Cookies n' Cream and 1 scoop of Chocolate Almond Chip and Kit Kat bits mixed in - I thought their 'Chocolate Almond Chip" was going to be like Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Covered Almond with vanilla ice cream as a base and chocolate covered almonds thrown in, instead Friendly's version used chocolate ice cream as a base...not my preference, but also not the end of the world - my sundae was still divine. My boy also ordered a "Happy Endings" sundae but his had Mint Chocolate Chip with I think vanilla, whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and a cherry on top - it looked pretty orgasmic. Food wise I glanced through the menu which looked like your typical, gluttonous, super fattening/delicious/butter-filled southern comfort food type fare. I wouldn't be beneath chowing down on a crazy good-looking grilled cheese sandwich here though...just to say I did, lol. I could see food here being rated a 3, but for ice cream - Friendly's is definitely where it's at. Next time I'm here I'm going for their birthday cake sundae thing ;-). read more

A few weeks ago, I celebrated the arrival of Fall with an ice cream cake. It was an impulsive decision and what better place to get a cheap ice cream cake than Friendly's? I tried Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbins but the price tag was not within my budget. I haven't been to Friendly's for quite awhile so I was shocked when I walked in and noticed the greasy stench lingering in the air. The place was packed and I was sorta disappointed with the cake I got. I waited and waited for someone to service me. There wasn't a line but no one was at the register. Actually I stood there for quite a while before someone acknowledged me. When I finally picked out the cake I wanted I waited some more to have "Happy 1st Day of Fall" written on the cake. Initially I wanted "Happy 1st Day of Fall.. Behave" written on the cake because the cake was purchased for the children at work. I figured if I was going to give them cake there better be a lesson attached as well unfortunately I wasn't informed that she couldn't fit all of it on. Sadly I would have felt better with "Behave" than simply "Happy 1st Day of Fall". The communication was not there at all. A decent place for a not so special cake. I am a frugal senior and there was a cheeseburger and small Fribble for $2 promotion being run. Sounds like a super deal - was it? No. Was it an okay deal? Yeah. How was the chocolate Fribble? Great. Haven't been to Friendly's in ages. Daughter really wanted to eat there so I gave in. Best food I've had here ever. Nash, our server did a great job. Tried to redeem my pop-up coupon from Yelp, got a big NO from the manger. No third party coupons, but the coupon came up when I checked in and it says right on it that it's from Friendly's. I've got tons of reviews and lots of check ins and I've never been told no. If there's a problem with the posting and Yelp, get it fixed. Don't let the customer down. One of my favorite Friendly's. The service is always fast, and super accommodating to diners who have children. The food is always good and the standards are met. Being in the same location as a movie theatre, I'd expect it to be busier, but I guess the movie and ice cream from my childhood has moved to something else. read more

Not sure why they call this place Friendly, they should call it Miserable. It is no wonder why this corporation is a zombie-turd, circling the drain. What would it have taken to get Lindsey to smile, let alone be "nice" to us as she took our ice cream order. Customer service is not a big priority here. Who is not a fan?! Seriously great place for kids, and adults. There is just one thing that I would say would make it have 5 Stars..and it has nothing to do with this local Friendly's, but the main company needs to stop changing the menus constantly, it would be so great if they just kept adding new stuff, but kept some of the dinner platters. They replaced a lot of the dinner platters with deep fried basket finger food. I used to love getting a full dinner at Friendly's but now I feel like I am munching on finger food. This Friendly's is solid, folks. Stopped by here after a scintillating morning at the DMV with a good friend. We enjoyed a nosh and some coffee and had fine service. Honestly, it's Friendly's. You know what to expect here. But this particular location is very clean, and very efficient. I think it's a cut above some of the others I've visited over the years.
