We were on the road home to DC from my nephew's graduation in NYC. 2 adults, 3 kids and two grandparents. We needed to make a dinner stop and were so lucky to find this well reviewed and highly rated Friendlys in Lancaster, PA. I haven't eaten in a Friendly's since my 20s working a job one summer up in Albany, NY but I remember what they do. The food was typical Friendly's fare...nothing incredible but totally fine and perfect for the little kiddies in our party. What made this 5 stars was the wonderful service from our server Rachael. She recognized immediately what was needed. She gave us time to settle in, gave us time to look at the menu, knew the food and made great suggestions. She was there when needed, cleared things away to keep the table chaos at a minimum --- this is not easy with 3 kids, and was genuinely kind and patient. She was quick to get us anything we needed, and there were no delays in getting our food out to us hot and fresh. I was worn out and stressed out from the NY traffic getting out of the city, packing the car, etc, etc and she gave us this relaxing oasis on our journey. When we left, I was energized for the remaining drive home. I've eaten in thousands of restaurants in my lifetime. Everything from ultra fine dining to mom and pop joints, corporate restaurants and independently owned small businesses. Rachael's personable service and professionalism ranks in the top 10 of a lifetime of dining experiences. She did everything right, and we all left happy. If you're in Lancaster PA go visit this Friendly's. The parking lot was full on a Sunday when most places looked empty. Seemed like a lot of locals dining in and taking out ice cream treats. Love Friendly's and has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid being invited to birthday parties there. The staff are usually friendly and service is fast. My favorites are the cheese burgers with fries and the ice cream sundaes are a must! Get the 5 scoop Reese pieces sundae with marshmallow sauce and peanut butter sauce- believe me it will not disappoint. Great place for families and kids. read more

Friendly was just not that friendly. The waitress assigned to us never came to greet us or take our order, so a wariness from the other side of the room had to help us. This was the best friendly's experience I've ever had. I'm not a big fan of the franchise, however my son is and he was dying to come here. Well I'm glad I did because this was a great experience. The server was extremely nice, quick and attentive. She answered all questions and got out food out quickly. The restaurant was busy but not too loud and was still pretty clean. Food seemed fresh and everything was properly executed from the loaded tater tots to my buffalo chicken sandwich to the egg and cheese sliders. Everything was delicious. Stopped in for lunch because the sign outside said "Happy Endings are back". There are 8 meals that come with a happy ending- a free 1- scoop sundae. What ever were you thinking???? The meals include a burger, a Cobb salad, a fish sandwich, a Cobb salad, a stir fry and a few other choices. I chose the cheesesteak melt. And it was actually quite good! Shredded steak with sautéed onions and green peppers. My opinion is that if you put sautéed onions and peppers on a shoe it would taste great. So basically I knew I wouldn't hate it. I didn't know how much I'd like it!! There was some kind of gooey American cheese and to be honest I prefer mozzarella to American but it was all melted and gotta say, it was tasty. Grilled on rye and served with fries , very enjoyable. Add the freebie sundae- what more could you want? I opted for the forbidden chocolate ice cream and hot fudge topping- yum. The server, Pat, was friendly and attentive. Always a plus! I haven't been to a Friendly's in years. This was Formica and chrome with old timey ice cream photos. Definitely better when you're a kid.I haven't been to a Friendly's in forever. Nothing has really changed though. Don't expect anything close to health food so the reason to go is the ice cream. I should've probably gotten ice cream but I attempted to go healthy instead. I wasn't entirely successful in that endeavor. Got the Signature Chicken Entree Salad, which supposedly could come with grilled chicken so, yeah. Let's do that. Now, the salad is described as Country-breaded, juicy chicken tenders with Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, fresh tomatoes, sliced egg, colorful tortilla strips, and fresh mixed greens. Recommended with our Honey Mustard dressing. In fairness, it does say country-breaded tenders and that reads as fried but don't tease me and ask if I'd like it grilled if that's an empty promise, haha. Oh, well. I lived but skipped on the ice cream. No sense in adding more to the waistline. read more

I came here with my family last night. The food was wonderful, to be specific, I got chicken tenders and french fries. My daughter got the Munchie Mania which she thoroughly enjoyed. Overall the ambiance was lovely. I felt like I was in an old restaurant. The waiter Sean was wonderful. He got all of the food out on time and he was very polite and friendly. There is nothing but great going on at this location in Centerville. The servers have been great. The food is always great. Prices are very reasonable. My son and I have come here 4 times in the last 2 months and had an excellent experience EVERY time. Breakfast and 3 dinners. Not sure where the negative reviews come from. My opinion would be a lot different if I had children, but I do not. The restaurant is really for kids only. There are virtually no healthy options on the main other than a sad salad. With so many children running about the store the tables and chairs were dirty and everything felt sticky to the touch. Would not come again unless I have my 5 year old cousin visiting. read more

Although friendly, most of the staff lack common sense and work ethic. Dreadful food. Can't even get the fries right. great place to take your girlfriend if you no longer want one. Not bad but nothing out of the ordinary on the menu for breakfast. My son likes coming here on the weekends because he gets a balloon and they have pancakes with M&M's with whipped cream.
