It was filling--enough for me to take the leftovers home for another meal--and it only cost about $12 with tax. The food itself was fantastic. I loved the fried rice. You can tell they use quality rice here. The little pieces of pork had great flavor and brought both the rice and chow mein together really well. The orange chicken was also good! I liked the sauce. It was not overpowering. Overall, the service was quite good too. Our food came out extraordinarily fast, and we were checked on as well. I would highly recommend dining here and I can't want to go back!

I ordered chow mein with BBQ pork, sweet & sour chicken, and tempura shrimp. The chow mein had a good balance of noodles, cabbage, and pork, with a clean savory flavor that wasn't overly oily. The BBQ pork added a slight sweetness that paired well with the noodles. The sweet & sour chicken had a nice crisp exterior with a sauce that wasn't overwhelming or overly sugary. It held its texture instead of turning soggy, which I appreciated. The tempura shrimp had a light batter and a fresh taste adding good contrast to the plate. Is it the best Chinese food I've ever had? No. But it's definitely above average, satisfying, and worth coming back to. Solid portions, authentic flavor I'd return.

Felt like my grandmother's old saying that they roll up the sidewalks after 8 PM on a Sunday night. Beyond Taquerias, a couple of hamburger drive-ins that were still open, we found this Chinese restaurant. We arrived 30 minutes before closing, and they were definitely not happy to see us, but they were willing to serve us. We got the Hunan Villa's dinner which came with a Pupu plate and your choice of soup and your choice of entrée. We ordered the dinner for two as the Babes only grazes. They gave us settings for three, including for the soup without having to be asked. Both the Hubbs and the babes had fun with the Pupu platter. I was more tired than hungry, but ended up enjoying the food. It had that old school greasy spoon American Chinese flavor that I've been missing. The food isn't fancy, but it's plentiful and tasty and reminded me of the Chinese restaurants when I was a kid. The Hubbs chose Mongolian beef and we got tons of beef and I chose the honey walnut prawns and they gave us at least 20 prawns. The portion sizes were huge. I was expecting that they had provided food for three but when we got our check, they charged us the dinner for two. We took home the leftovers and there was enough food for two additional meals. Forgot to take additional pictures and the total came out to about $42. I had $60 on me in cash and left that to cover the tab and tip, since they stayed open late for us. Definition of cheap eats and we will definitely be back the next time we go to the reservoir.

The inside is decked out in lucky red and reminded me of those mom-n-pop Chinese restaurants of yore. There's a walk-up counter to place to-go orders. I ordered: Salt n pepper shrimp - I counted 14 head OFF shrimp with 60% onions, NO jalapenos for almost $17. The shrimp looked like the kind you find in a frozen bag at Costco - small and... shrimpy. I get this may be a bastardized version to appeal to the general demographic in Turlock, but I was not impressed. It's what made me write my review right away, I was so shocked by the small amount I got. Chicken chow mein - this was ordered at the counter for the SO after placing my original order over the phone. When he dug into it, it was 40% bean sprouts and barely any chicken, maybe 5 or 6 small pieces... Beef chow fun - same issue of overcompensating with hella bean sprouts. The beef wasn't velveted enough and a bit tough. Taste was fine. Chili oil spilled over in my to-go bag and didn't have much spice at all. All three entrees came in the leftover to-go sized boxes, totaling almost $50 after tax and tip. I understand inflation and all, but cannot justify returning due to the negative value for the amount of food received. It's unfortunate because the service is probably some of the best for a Chinese restaurant. Super friendly over the phone and just as friendly in-person. As Gordon Ramsay would say, "Damn. What a shame."

My sister got steamed veggies so I stole some of hers and they were steamed to perfection! Delicious bok choy, broccoli, mushrooms and carrots. I ate my own steamed broccoli but was not a huge fan of the chicken. And that's only because it's thighs and not breasts, and I don't like the texture of chicken thighs. I ate a few bites and it was good, but I just didn't like the texture . But if you like chicken thighs, then you would like this. Now for the egg flower soup!! So good! Lacking a bit on the egg but full of broccoli, carrots, peas, onions and celery. I devoured the small cup they gave me and saved the big cup for leftovers. Very good!! Their hot and sour soup here is delicious as well. I was happy and very full, but still ate that fortune cookie . Lots of leftovers!!!! Huge portions! My sister picked the food up so I have no idea what the inside looks like or how their customer service is. But they were nice on the phone when I called about making food substitutions prior in the week.
