Last year I left a review and it was very positive. Well it was that time of year again and I went back to use my vision benefits. This experience was even better. It went so smooth again. The girls at the front desk greeted me with a big smile. They had my file ready and within 10 mins I saw the doctor. The doctor remembered me and was very personable. After that they had the exact amount my insurance would cover and which frames would be equal to that. I chose to upgrade a bit and found the coolest frames. We then sat down and went over what lenses were covered and how much it would cost for any upgrade. Again I decided to upgrade a little. The cost was very reasonable. I just received my glasses yesterday and I love them. I am so glad I upgraded because the lenses are so clear. Then the most important thing. The best optometrist, hands down. I have been going to Dr. Friedman for over ten years for contact lens. Their service is professional, but personnel. On a Friday when inserting a contact something painful entered between by contact lens and eye, creating extreme discomfort, I was driven to the office 15 minutes after opening and I was seen almost immediately, I had abraded my eye lens. Prescription written and I was home within an hour. And when insurance told me this would not be covered, the office intervened and found it was covered by my insurance. The biller also knows and understands VSP insurance. During a previously visit they stated my contacts were medically necessary and were covered by insurance saving me hundreds of dollars in yearly replacement of contacts. read more

This is an odd and annoying place. In my experience, you go to a glasses store, you look around at the frames, if they're not busy someone offers to help you, and if you see something you like, and they are busy, you make an appointment to come back later. Not here! Even though their website and store say "walk-ins welcome" when you come in the door there's what is essentially a security checkpoint with a half-door so you can't just go look at frames. After saying that you just want to look at frames, the kind-of-snippy staff person ignores you and informs you that you can't see an optician until an hour or so later and a sign says they need your ID. At this point, after absorbing the waves of weirdness, you retreat and start planning your Yelp review. The bulk of positive reviews seem to be along the lines of "We've been going here for years, and yeah, the front office staff can be kind of rude, but we've been going here for years." Kind of like people who write positive reviews of Old Tony's in Redondo. read more
