two plates of food on a table

Fried Tomato Buffet can be hit or miss based on the location. We stopped at this location in Montgomery,AL as we made our way back to GA from Mississippi. This location had more meat and side options (meats included: ribs, fried fish, fried chicken, baked chicken, and country fried steak) and the food was well seasoned, but the overall experience was just okay to me. The pricing was a bit higher than other Fried Tomato Buffets. The location in Mcdonough,GA charges ~$11 for adults. This location was charging $9-11 for kids, which is higher than normal for small buffet pricing, especially since my son did not eat anything except for their ice cream, which I could have just paid for separately for $1. On a positive note, it was cool to see that they had a drive through window. There was a staff member constantly fixing plates for the guests that were using drive through services. I enjoyed the country fried steak and fried chicken, but felt that the chicken salad was too sweet, yams were too sweet and some of the fried items were too greasy (not drained - such as the fried green tomatoes). My family liked the flavor of the soul food better than the GA location, but I felt that the food was just okay. Overall, I'd recommend for families who enjoy soul food in the area.

After a long day of walking, and touring collages, we finally came to a stop at the Friend Tomato buffet. Normally one would notice the excellent employee service, however the air and atmosphere are humid and sticky, I could only compare this experience to walking into a sweat shop, uncomfortable and depressing. Luckily I didn't have to wait to eat, I was sat down and was able to get what would be literally the worst food I've ever eaten at a buffet. The fish was dry, smelled and appeared undercooked, anything containing dairy was sour, and had a slightly lemony taste. There were "mystery chunks" in the pudding and the Salisbury steak was horrendous. Luckily the chicken and pork seemed cooked and edible but they both were dryer than a pigs arse in the summer. Overall, great service, horrible food.

I went through the drive through and ordered fried fish with cabbage and Mac and cheese. I also ordered a pork cop meal. My complaint is about the fish meal. The cabbage was hard pieces that you couldn't cut with a fork and the Mac and cheese was ok. I spoke to someone and told them I would send them a picture of the cabbage in my box. Sent the photo and got the response of "sorry for the inconvenience l will tell the kitchen to do better from now on". They didn't offer a refund is the side or a replacement. I don't know about y'all but I expect to receive what I pay for and their prices have gone up. I'm posting a picture of the food I received. Because they didn't offer me anything to compensate for their poor quality of food.

I recently came here with my grandma and I was some pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious! The standouts for me were the mashed potatoes, the lima beans, the steak tips, and the fried chicken... after looking back at the pictures I took... it was pretty much everything I had. It was so good that I'm thinking about heading home to Montgomery sooner than usual just to take my grandma here again!

It's an old Ryan's that has been opened by a local. It is almost like a Chinese restaurant but serving American food. A couple dishes on the tables are Typical Chinese. The carrot salad is absolutely awful. I can tell nobody southern made it. The rest is a little bit better than average and at $9.50 for dinner that includes a drink, I would say this is an absolute win. The place was busy and many looked to be enjoying their food. I enjoyed it. The fried chicken was delicious.

I would always get the fried chicken, cabbage, Mac and cheese, and cornbread with a mini salad on the side.

I hit it and so glad I did! the fried chicken was perfect, all the veggies were perfectly seasoned. Love that they take extra precautions and ask you to wear a glove when serving yourself- more should. I ate till i was too full to move - more than your monies worth:)). it is well organised, clean, with pleasant employees, and lots of customers...that tells ya all you need to know - folks LOVE it. Me too! I have got to make a Sunday trip through to enjoy dressing and maybe Thursday too for meatloaf mmmm. I will be back Martha!!! Greg

My wife did two…read moredifferent AI restaurant searches and Martha's Place came up on both searches, as highly recommended and one of the best-known country cooking / soul food spots in Montgomery. Martha's Place it is... Upon arrival, Martha's place looked very upscale. Very nice building and many Mercedes and Cadillacs were parked out front. We started to wonder if we'd wandered into some rich neighborhood where the prices would be sky high! We walked in and a young lady greeted us and told us that lunch was $14 including a drink. GREAT! Everyone in the restaurant was amiable and helpful. (Staff and customers). We went to the buffet and loaded our plates with beautifully fried chicken and meatloaf for our proteins. For our sides we had collards, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas a couple of pieces of cornbread and some banana pudding for dessert. Then, the first weird thing happened. As we took our seats, the waiter that helped us get seated, told us that they only had one fork and one knife. We assumed he meant he would go back to the kitchen (or the dishwasher, or wherever) and get us another set. Meanwhile, the food looked SO GOOD, we immediately began sharing the fork and taking turns. MAN! THIS FOOD WAS GREAT! After a couple of minutes, we noticed the second weird thing... we were the only two white folks in the entire, crowded restaurant. And there were LOTS OF PEOPLE. They also do a huge to go business, so, the buffet station stays pretty busy with people coming and going. But, during the entire time we were there, there was not a single non-black customer in the house, except us. Not an employee. Not a customer. Not even a to go customer, just passing through - NOBODY. After about 5 or 6 minutes of taking turns with the fork, we decided our server must've forgotten about us. So, my wife went and asked and was informed they still didn't have any forks. (No. We were not being singled out, as my wife heard them tell another customer the same thing.) My wife asked if they had some plastic utensils, used for to go orders. They were able to oblige. Back to the food... The fried chicken was as good as any I've ever had and much better than any I've had in recent memory. The vegetables were also seasoned and prepared as good as any I've ever had - in a restaurant OR at home. The cornbread didn't have real corn in it, (like I prefer) but it was still some KILLER CORNBREAD. And the nanner puddin' was off the charts. I REALLY WANT some more of that nanner puddin'!! The staff were friendly and helpful and I have no idea why we were the only white folks in attendance. Maybe it was just a weird coincidence. But, I'll tell you this. The nice people at this restaurant KNOW HOW TO COOK. And I highly recommend this restaurant to ANYBODY -- No matter what color you are! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and we look forward to dining there again, the next time we pass through Montgomery. Go here. You won't get a better country meal - anywhere. P.S. You might want to bring a fork.

There are multiple bars of food to choose from and there's a little something for everyone. On offer are your typical Chinese dishes, Hot and Sour and Egg Drop Soups, fresh sushi, American dishes such as Pizza and fried fish, shrimp, French fries, and a salad bar. There is also a hibachi grill bar in the back where customers can assemble their own bowls and a chef will cook them up. There's a wide selection of desserts including ice cream for an after meal treat. I particularly recommend the coconut shrimp. I love how they serve it on the bar. The shrimp is fried up but the sauce is in individual cups so nothing gets soggy and disgusting. Both are kept nice and hot. This is one of the few buffets where I have never gotten anything that should have been hot that was cold. They keep the food here fresh and hot. There is always someone wiping down the service areas and changing out dishes. Whenever I'm in Prattville and have a craving for Chinese I head straight for King's Buffet. They also offer a to go menu.

On March 19, 2026 I decided to go here with my parents ( along with my husband and two kids) since…read morewe are here visiting them and seldomly have a chance to dine at a Golden Corral. Since it has been a while, I called to check the prices. The call is a recording and for pricing the caller is supposed to price 2. So that's what I did. For the time that we were going, the recording clearly says that Early Bird pricing is from 1 to 3 with drinks included for $11. 49( or $11.99). For Seniors the pricing is similar but it's 11 to 4. We arrived before 3 and I was charged for drinks plus 12.49 for each meal. I went ahead and paid so that I could join my parents at the table. As I processed the pricing I asked the waitress and she said that that price is Early Bird Senior pricing, implying that there isn't a separate Early Bird and Senior price. That is not what the recording says. The "heading" for each price is clear and separate. So I asked to speak to a manager. Instead of him trying to understand what I was saying, he barely listened to the recording via the number that I dialed for that location and he defiantly told me that he wasn't changing his price and that HIS price is clearly on the board and that he was not changing it. This was the worse manager interaction I've ever had and he had no concern for what I was saying and couldn't have cared less. I couldn't leave my parents there and not join them so I didn't ask for a refund. So I quickly filled out the survey-making it known here that he is getting over on customers and doesn't care. He could have nicely refunded the difference and apologized for the misunderstanding and made himself a note to fix what was causing that confusion. Or, even if he couldn't extend a refund, he could have done something. He didn't do anything at all. It was clear that all he cared about was me just being another number in his restaurant that just so happened to be full at the time. Since he didn't want to treat me as a valued customer after me giving him more than one chance to correct the problem, I'm making it known here that that manager only cares about your money. If you call the number for this location it is not going to match what is on the menu in the restaurant as you get ready to check out. I also told customers as I was leaving to make sure that they are being charged correctly. He was so defiant and had no regard for me as I customer, I was almost speechless. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to spark a louder reaction from me but I didn't let it go that far. I won't be back there- especially if he is there and you all who are thinking about going there...watch your pennies. Update: The manager called to say the recording says that the prices are subject to change without notice. Even if that's true, he still missed the point. The price misunderstanding is only part of the problem. My point was in how he handled the situation, how he talked to me disrespectfully, and in how he handled the misunderstanding disrespectfully. He could have desclated it easily and a phone call with an empty " I'm sorry" doesn't make it any better. He only did that bc hos managers and owners said to.

The service is amazing. The food is great depending on what you get. It's ok, not many choices, idk…read morewhat ambiance is. I kinda recommend this place is you went that hungry
