Let me start this off by saying the food is good and that I have been twice within a day of my first visit. I had never been to this style of restaurant and it changed my taste palette, immediately. But,... The staff is not very friendly at all. I mean, I have been a business owner and I know what it's like to have no customers and what it's like to have more business than you can handle. I believe this is a case of this place taking its flow of customers for granted. We got there 30 minutes before close. We were rushed and denied certain services. It was simple things like access to condiments to utilize with our meals. I figured that since they were about to close, this was the major reason why. The food was really good! I do feel they need to have a more clear place to have the directions for new customers. I was lost with what to do especially with the sauce and dry spices. The ambience was casual, families and small groups eating. The waitress we had wasn't too observant of us and didn't offer help. She also came and didn't say our names to our bowls so we had to read them as she was holding them and that was a bit hard. The chicken just had this overpowering garlic flavor - and that's not what I'd expect from a teriyaki chicken. They over-season the meat so much- and the teriyaki sauce is overly thick and gummy - and not that yummy. The overpowered overseasoning of the meat does NOT make it yummy - it makes it yaki. garlic powder over-seasoning in the meat is TOO MUCH. Also - the meat is too thick and not tenderized; the chewing experience was not good- the chicken was stringy and tough- and almost under-cooked. And the teriyaki sauce is too thick and gummy. I also felt they were a tad bit stingy with the noodles so I ordered an extra side of noodles (for a nominal price). Overall, the food for price value was good (to me, but I live in DC where the cost of living is astronomical so take that with a grain of salt). We notified the man behind the counter and asked if he had different beef that wasnt already contaminated. He grabbed a new pan of beef and proceeded to use the SAME tongs to grab the new beef. The bowls used to be at least twice as big as they are here, they used to give you rice AND noodles (not one or the other), and they didn't limit you to 2 sauces or seasonings.
