We stop here a good bit, because they have authentic dishes you can't get in most places. Hubby likes the real deal. Here is my Mr. -Chen's take. They do have some of the typical Americanized dishes. If that is your jam, this may not be it. Normally it is really good. Today my sesame chicken and egg roll were not as good as the other 10 or so stops we have made. They have a well-priced lunch menu. The octopus dish that hubs got was unique and spicy. The fried dumplings were great.

地道的很!Super authentic Chinese restaurant/ Asian grocery. I lived in central China for several years and this is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants I've been to stateside! We had boiled dumplings, roast duck, stir fried water spinach, fish flavor eggplant, hot and sour potato strips, salt fried chicken, and cumin beef- all were spot-on and delicious. Do yourself a favor and venture away from the egg rolls and sweet and sour and you'll be rewarded with some of the best homestyle Chinese food you'll find anywhere. And if you're versed in Chinese cuisine there's a variety of odd-menu dishes available, just ask! 5/5, well worth the two hour drive.

Mr Chen's restaurant far exceeded my expectations. I wasn't expecting to find any authentic Chinese around here, but it was solid and good. I love sichuan food, and I was hoping for a bit more peppercorn in my food, but it was still very tasty and hit the spot. We ordered SF 21, boiled fish fillet in hot pot. It was huge, two of us ate it and barely finished it. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something authentic.

This is a go-to Chinese spot for groceries and Chinese food! You'll need to walk into the grocery store and the restaurant will be on the left. - Hot Tea: Way too strong and undrinkable. - Chicken with Black Bean Sauce, slight American twist but it was tasty and the chicken was surprisingly tender. I wish there was more cabbage - Eggplant with Pork in a Hot Pot: It was good with a second dish but did not make me want to keep eating Bathrooms are clean and off of the grocery store side. If you want to stock up on Asian groceries, this is the place. The rice is a little expensive but they have a decent selection. Frozen foods, ice cream, seafood, dishes, brooms, produce, bouillon and Vietnamese stuff too. I could survive with this store.

Mr. Chen's is my grandpa's go-to Chinese restaurant for a couple years now. We've always heard great things about it from my grandpa. So this time when we visited him in Montgomery, we went to Mr. Chen's together to check it out. This place is a Chinese market and restaurant in one. Mr. Chen's is located in the right corner of a large plaza. There's plenty of parking. Walking in, you'll see the small market. To the left, there's a sign directing you to the restaurant. The restaurant area is spacious, has about 4-5 large round tables and about 10 smaller tables. Their menu offers a TON of options. From soups, pork/beef/seafood/chicken entrees, noodles, veggies to hot pot meals and chef's special menu. We ordered two things this time: *Spicy Hot Pot ($59.99/4 people): The hot pot for 4 is VERY generous. I believe hot pot for 2 ($33.99) would have been enough for the 5 of us. There were slices of beef, lamb, tripe, shrimp balls, meatballs, noodles, 4-5 shrimp (with head), tofu, quail eggs, and veggies. The spicy broth with dry chili peppers in the pot was too spicy for me, but my dad (who loves spicy foods) really liked it. *Beef Chow Fun ($7.95): Very tasty! The beef is tender and the noodles were delicious. Definitely, try this if you're a fan of noodles! Service is good. Food arrived promptly and the staff was attentive and nice. Overall, Mr. Chen's a great place to go for authentic Asian food--something that's difficult to find in Montgomery.

I'm really torn about this place. Mr. Chen's is my favorite Chinese place Montgomery. The food is usually really good, but the cleanliness is bad. The last time we ate at Mr. Chen's, I found a bug in my soup and there were cockroaches in the bathroom. If it gets cleaned up some, I'd starting eating here again. I love this place and have recommended it to my friends be

There is a table with utensils, sauces, napkins, menus, and fortune cookies to your left, seating to your right, and an order/pickup window directly in front of you. I decided to order online but online ordering was closed. It was 8:30 pm and they closed at 9 pm so I was cutting it a bit close. I figured I would have to choose another restaurant but when I called the lady that answered the phone assured me it was not too late to put an order in and I had a large one. So large, we were given two egg rolls and ten Chinese donuts for free. It was a pleasant surprise. Ten minutes for enough to feed a small army. When I arrived it was almost closing time. I was greeted warmly and my food was indeed ready and smelled amazing! I was encouraged to help myself to their condiment table and snagged utensils, chopsticks, soy sauce, fortune cookies, and napkins. Unpacking the food was shocking to say the least and not in a bad way. The amount of food crammed into the package was insane. We split every dish three ways and still had leftovers on the dinner combinations! Before I get into the food itself let me tell you this restaurant does something I really like and appreciate. They ask how spicy you want your items. They have three spice levels. Hot, Mild, and Not. I like a little spice but I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a dish so spicy I couldn't eat it and my parents can't take spice at all so it was nice to know we could eat what we were ordering. The food was fresh and piping hot. I've had an issue with some Chinese places "double dipping or frying" foods. You know when you see that tan brown color that the food is old and it's tough, hard, and overly greasy. It's pretty nasty to be honest. There was none of that here. Everything was light colored, fresh, soft and utterly delicious. My family went on and on about how good everything was. Our egg rolls were crisp but soft. The crab rangoons, were crisp, soft, and the filling was just perfect - not too sweet but not sour. Our Hot and Sour soup was the best we've had in the area. The House Lo Mein was not greasy and yes it's been a thing with other restaurants. It was perfectly loaded with veggies, chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp. We each got a dinner combination plate. They included fried rice and an egg roll for under $8! With the amount of food you get, it's a steal! Our entrees were Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Sweet and Sour Shrimp. Everything was expertly cooked. I asked for light spice on the Mongolian beef and it was delicious, as were the other dishes. We finished up with the free donuts. They were nice, fresh, and still hot! We had leftovers for lunch today and it heated up terrifically. I will most definitely be going back. I have no complaints whatsoever except that I got full way too soon. You should try this place. I highly recommend it.

Parking is a little odd. There is a paid parking garage next to the Greyhound bus line, but no validation provided by the Thai resturant. There are some Railroad Thai-specifically labeled parking spots behind the resturant under the large covered platform building, but make sure you park in a labeled Thai parking spot and there are only a handfull of them. The Basil roll was good and fresh, but could have used more Basil in it and it would have been nice if the Tofu had been seasoned. The chicken Pad (Pud) Thai was good, and had a surprising amount of chicken and egg and beansprouts in it (a plus), but it was quite odd to be served alongside white rice. Not something I commonly see done and I eat a LOT of Thai food all across the USA. This must be their 'thing' though and I will say it was welcome because the dish itself was really soupy. Traditionally I see this when insufficient time is taken in the Wok to develop the sauce completely. I ordered the top spice level, extra hot, and it did indeed have spice within it; but native Thai nor experienced Thai-food eaters need concern themselves with it being close to 'too spicy'. Overall, it was a good place and I will probably consider returing again in the future.
