Have been going to the 14th Street Birmingham location this entire century. I don't often get through Montgomery - especially with time to eat, but on a recent solo trip to Florida, I felt I should. This is a much nicer location but I didn't care for the ribs - a bit tougher than I was used to. read more

This newish suburban location does the trick if you don't wish to head downtown for the classic Dreamland Ribs. Plenty of parking, covered outdoor seating. Fair and friendly service. My group included 4 who had never been to any Dreamland. They loved their rib plates, the various sides, especially the Mac and cheese. Didn't know what to do with the white loaf bread however! Another thought the pork sandwich was generous, moist and tasty. Another loved the pork stuffed baked potato--still a great bargain on the menu. They would have liked more local beers and one insisted on wine and appeared shocked at the meager choice. On the other hand I was shocked that the place even had wine!" Didn't seem right? I got the half rib plate and was generally satisfied with the smoke, the lean meat, and the taste. Not overwhelmed. I would always opt for the original Tuscaloosa location, but my group liked the choice, are every bite, and were happy. Three stars for me but 4 stars overall for the group. read more

There was so much to like! Overall though the experience was great. You DO NOT get service like this up North. We didn't have to ask for a thing. She had eyes on the table and brought extra napkins, drinks, sauces, etc before we ran out every single time. The only reason for 4 stars was that I felt the ribs were lacking meat really. It just wasn't what I was used to. It happens! However, the ribs were HUGE. Would we go back? Absolutely! This place is in my books as a must visit when I'm in the area. The fixin's were so good I could have a meal off of those alone. read more

Met up for dinner with some old friends. This use to be an oyster bar...and the bell is still inside (and rang at times). Plenty of parking as this place is adjacent to a strip mall. My friends ordered some deep fried okra as an appetizer. I'm not an okra fan (nor were a couple other people in our group), however,we were encouraged to try it as it's not the same as boiled or steamed okra. And holy-moly...not bad! Not bad at all! We were sold and now I'm a deep fried okra fan! For dinner, I got the pulled pork sandwich and it too was pretty good. Throw in a couple beers and dinner experience was way better than I was expecting. Everyone seemed to like their food. For me, this is a definite must stop location the next time in town! read more

I'm not going to lie, we almost walked out and didn't look back, but it's a good thing we didn't. From the time we sat down it was about 30 minutes until our server came back to get our drink & food order (to be fair, she did bring us waters immediately. Apparently their new point of sales/service system is complicated. The okra is crispy. The slaw isn't too sweet and tastes like it's freshly made the day it's served to you (so you know it's not soggy). The smoke ring is noticeable on the pulled pork, something that's not always present at newer BBQ restaurants. Their sauce has a very complex dimension: tangy, spicy, smokey. If you can be patient with their slow-ish methods, then your tastebuds will enjoy some yummy grub. read more

First of all, no brisket on the menu, which I did not know before visiting. I got 3 meats: pork, ribs, and sausage. Every bite of the pork pile seemed different, some good, some sour? The sausage definitely was made with a lot of fat. And the ribs could have been cooked a bit longer. But what's with the one slice of bread? Could have asked but it was late and whatever.... Overall, decent BBQ worth trying to satisfy your curiosity. But there are better places for sure. read more

Dreamland Bbq is known for their outstanding bbq. This location did not disappoint. We went in for lunch on a Friday and are so glad we did. We had the BIG DADDY LOADED HOUSE CHIPS - house-made chips smothered with nacho cheese, creamy slaw, jalapeños, & green onions. Topped with Alabama Twang Sauce, Dreamland BBQ Sauce, & your choice of boneless rib tips, pork, chicken, or sausage. Two words.... Absolutely banging!!! The combination of flavors and textures, with a little heat , made this appetizer a perfect choice. The ribs were spot on delicious, fresh and tender. The service was stellar! Our server, Jordana was friendly , knowledgeable and made our experience here a very pleasant one. I definitely recommend this place for awesome bbq and then some! read more

Let's start with the menu: 1. Not very clear what is or is not included with an entree; 2. This place is billed as a BBQ restaurant but it does not serve beef dishes of any kind; 3. The pork ribs are tough although plentiful; 4. These type of ribs are much better at a Chinese restaurant. Service was underwhelming, our server got a big party and forgot about us I had to go to the Hostess desk to ask for our check. My wife has already left a review I believe she filled you in on her BBQ chicken salad it was full of bones. So there you have it, never going back. read more

The mac and cheese should have been the hero and while they were cheesy they lacked that favor you'd expected from a BBQ joint. The potato salad was decent, but nothing to write home about. This was especially true after a patron sent something back and the kitchen came out loudly exclaiming that they wanted to see the food that "wasn't good enough." I had the fried chicken, greens, okra, and mashed potatoes. The chicken was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and the tastiest fried skin/breading. That's where the goodness stops. The turnip greens were flavorless and complete mush, as though they had been sitting on the heat all day. Mashed potatoes were clearly from a box based on the consistency, color and flavor. Gravy had no flavor as well. There wasn't enough salt on the table to make it all better. The okra came out about 15min after we got our plates. It was fresh, but again, flavorless. My husband had the fried pork chop. It was just okay -- cooked well, zero flavor. Butter beans were good flavor wise, but definitely seemed to have been sitting for a while. It was odd to us that the only things you could get to drink were water, tea, lemonade, milk, and coffee. The second star is only for the chicken. I doubt we'll go back because the above experience for $50 is not worth it.

I know a lot of folks do not care for chicken livers but if you do, you must try these. They were cooked perfectly, and the fried green tomatoes never disappoint. If you are in a hurry, be patient. Two things to know, #1, there might not be more than a couple servers working and more than likely they are busting their buns waiting on tables, #2, most of the food that you order will be cooked as it's ordered. Do not expect to get your order 5 minutes after it's placed. But, it's worth the wait to me. Not everyone agrees, but this is my review. The staff has ALWAYS been super nice and attentive as much as possible. I don't get upset if the server is not standing by waiting to fill my drink or get me an extra napkin. I have seen people get upset with the server and in most cases, it's not their fault. Be patient if you order fried chicken, it will not be ready in 5 minutes. I'm just sayin,,,,,,
