It is outdated atmosphere wise, very spacious and I did leave very full. I tasted nearly all the deserts. I only really liked one and it was fruit. The sushi was a little dry on top. But the thought of earing raw sushi from a buffet was terrifying. I was brought here to enjoy the bounty. I was dismayed by the sheer volume of options from sushi to pizza. All of the lowest quality imaginable. But I pushed through and tried sushi and the rest. Everything was passable. This experience was so weird to say the least. Almost all the workers were on their phones, some in their gloves while on it. Others waited by the food awkwardly. They didn't tell us how much was it to dine there and just kept instructing us to sit just to find out it was like 30$ which is fine ridiculous. Sometimes I wait a few minutes for something like butterfly shrimp to be "refreshed" but they are very busy keeping things full. Not a place for the sushi connoisseur but certainly a place where everyone can have a good meal for a good price. The food was always kept refreshed and the waters were refilled often. They did a good job keeping the dirty dishes cleared. There were 10-12 bars of food offered. You can get hibachi cooked to order for no extra charge. We had a person who was allergic to shrimp but she found lots of good food. There were even southern favorites like fried okra! The roast beef was tender and they had a lot of seafood. The only thing that wasn't good was the cheese cake. In a non-food comment, the bathroom stalls had good walls that almost went down to the floor. I like that because I hate it when the stalls are so high that someone can peek under and see me on the toilet. The bathrooms are nice and clean, always a good sign. We fed 11 people for under $90. Unfortunately, this buffet has gone down in quality over the years, especially post-COVID-19. My dad found a hair in one of his sushi rolls. Their quality of food can be inconsistent throughout a week so you also gotta be aware of that. So the carpet smells funny and some of the food may not have been super fresh, but overall, for $7 a person, you just cannot beat the value. My favorites were the kiwi, the mushrooms, and the chicken broccoli. But the selection was impressive, with crawfish, cold mussels, all sorts of grilled meat, and a sushi selection. We came here two days in a row and left both times satisfied. The staff are friendly and they play contemporary hip hop music inside. The space is gigantic and brightly lit. This is probably my favorite Chinese Buffet for my time at Montgomery. They also have military discount, which is a thumbs up! It really seems like Montgomery is very supportive of military members, unlike some of the places that I've been to. The water here tastes a bit off and I'm not sure if its tap water or not. I don't ever drink tap water at all. If you're into the sushi, a tip is to arrive as soon as the restaurant is open. They say that they're open at 11 AM but they actually start earlier like 10:50 AM or so. I really liked the mackerel sushi and I'm really glad they have this option. I tried their coconut/honey shrimp and I think they didn't cook one of the shrimp all the way. It had a nasty fishy, shrimpy taste. Don't ask me why the ingredient they choose to cheap out on was RICE. -The cheesecake is completely flavourless. -The raw beef that isn't in steaks? Drier than the Sahara once it's off the grill. -The ribs. Dry and tasteless. -The stuffed crabs. What the hell? -The carbs. The fries taste like salt and nothingness, and the mozzarella sticks are more stick than mozzarella. -Most of the ice cream. Now, everything else: -Eat it. Seriously. The sausage is deliciously sweet; the steaks, prawns and onions, cooked for you before your eyes, are as savoury as they come. The mussels come drenched in some strange but delicious eggy thing, and if you're not up for that both raw and cooked mussels along with some cocktail shrimp await you. The broccoli is delicious, along with the hibachi rice and sweet coated prawn next to it. Huge piles of salad greens await you; spear them with some chili squid and feel the magic happen. There's barely anything here that isn't worth trying at least once, and the service doesn't suffer at all for the food. At $10 after tax, this is quite possibly some of the most incredible value I've ever had on a buffet. While I was in Montgomery, I walked five miles each way to get here several times and never left unsatisfied. I almost wish I stayed longer just to taste some more. read more

I am only writing this review because I genuinely believe this place should not be open for the sake of people's health. This place does not follow regulations about COVID19; packed with people and not wearing masks. I noticed dust and debris all over the place. I asked the server why the buffet is this uncleaned and they told me that they are renovating the buffet at night. I was very shocked to hear this. From my understanding, it is not legal to be renovating your business while still serving food. This shows that the owners only care for what goes into their pockets and not the health of others. Biggest mistake ever!!! I filled one small styrofoam to go box. The price was $26.50!! Even though 3 full lines of the buffet were shut down down compared to the last visit. I was not offered a senior citizen's discount. There wasn't any item I got that was worth that much. I should have left the plate there and left.
