Came here because I kept seeing it on Instagram, only to realize I'd actually been here before. It's cash only, so make sure you're prepared. The menu is as simple as it gets--they only serve pork and chive dumplings. Unfortunately, mine had already been packed into a to-go container before I ordered, so by the time I got them they were a bit soggy. I actually remember them being much better the last time I visited, so I think getting them fresh would make a big difference. There's a small park just around the corner, which is a nice place to sit and eat your dumplings. I came in with pretty high expectations and ended up leaving a little disappointed. If anything when visiting Chinatown most places are CASH ONLY. Make no exception, Cash is king in these parts. You get a go to box with your hot, ready to eat dumplings and you load it up with the sauces. Vinegar, Soy Sauce, and some Spicy sauce that might as well be Siracha. Oh well. I could tell every dumplings are homemade, because the owner was chopping chives when I was there. I like the dumpling wraps are a little bit chewy, adding texture to it. The meat filling was juicy and it was very addicting. The owner was so friendly and she started conversations with me, asking me if I just got off work or school etc. I felt warmth eating homemade food while talking to her. I'm old enough to remember a time when Chinatown was full of mom and pop eateries that cooked things as if you were in their home. No frills, decor that is best described as "makeshift" but good (perhaps not great) solid food. That pretty much describes Fried Dumpling. Located in what is essentially an alleyway in Chinatown, you could be forgiven for mistaking this as a wholesale operation that doesn't sell to the public. But they do! Go in and on the right is the grille where you order and pay. On the left are two stools in front of a tiny counter. The rest of the space is made up of refrigeration units and storage. That's it. The only real decor is in the window where there is a light up sign. So are the dumplings good? Yes. Are they *great*? No. Most restaurants in the area will make better dumplings. They will also charge you about 1/3 more. The draw here is that the dumplings are good, super cheap ($5 for about a dozen when I went) and freshly made. The lady behind the counter is famous for a gruff attitude but when I went she was perfectly pleasant, especially given that I came when it seemed she was packing up things for the evening. But your mileage may vary. read more

Ok, so it's a hole in the wall....but one that my family & I always want to stop in at. The dumplings here are the best!! Don't expect great customer service lol, she literally will rush you out . Just tell her how many, pay, put on your toppings (siracha, soy sauce mixture) and get out. You purchase them cooked or you can buy frozen ones to make at home. There is nowhere to sit, so don't expect that. We usually get ours walk right out & start eating right on the sidewalk! Ordered 30 dumplings for my group here and the consistency wasn't there... some dumplings were crisp, some were soggy and some were right in the middle. Maybe because this place holds a special place in my heart, so my high perception of their dumplings may be deeply rooted from nostalgia.
