    Fried Dumplings

Looking for a simple, quick and cheap eat in the heart of Chinatown? At Fried Dumpling in Moscow st you can see them making the dumplings fresh in the window. Currently it's 13 dumplings for $5 which is a great bang for your buck. They are juicy and hot when you get them. Are they the best dumplings, nope but great for what they are. They also serve pork buns but I didn't try them this visit.

Fried Dumpling is exactly what it should be and nothing more. A tiny, unassuming takeout spot on Mosco Street where you go for one thing and one thing only: cheap, satisfying dumplings. Service is fast and straightforward. You order, you pay, and your dumplings come out quick. The fried dumplings are crispy on the outside with a savory filling and the portions are generous for the price. It's not gourmet, but it absolutely hits the spot, especially when you want something filling without spending much. What really makes this place special is that it feels like one of the last remaining truly cheap dumpling spots left in Chinatown. In a neighborhood where prices keep creeping up, Fried Dumpling still delivers solid food at a price that feels like old Chinatown. No seating, no frills, cash only. Get in, get your dumplings, and get out. Perfect for a quick bite and a Chinatown classic that deserves to stick around.

    $5 for 13 dumplings.

Old school hole in the wall dumpling shop. Great flavor, a little on the greasy side and high turnover unfortunately means no time to get a good crisp on the bottom. $5 for 13 makes this a banging cheap eat. Can't go wrong with freshly made dumplings.

We stopped in for some you guest it, dumplings. There dumplings. Not great and not bad. Just dumplings. Good price for what you get. Cash only.

Iconic dumplings, no frills and cheap, delicious food. Cash only and no sitting area but designed as a food on the go. For $5 you get 13 dumplings.

Whatever you do, DO NOT let the look of this place fool you. It's a hole in the wall and it's the BEST place to get dumplings. I ordered a small portion which is 13 dumplings for $5. I didn't think they would be that good cause of how they looked but OH MY FREAKIN GOSH was I wrong. Those things were DELICIOUS!!!!!!! Would 100% go back and would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Also, it's CASH ONLY so please make sure you have cash in hand. You won't regret this purchase.

Taking a shortcut in Chinatown thru the narrow Mosco St. and tripped upon Fried Dumping, a fantastic 5-star cheap eats. Greeted with a "hello" ordered a small, filling fried dumpling portion - 13 dumplings for only $5. Had also wanted some Hot & Sour Soup, but they ran out for the day! Yum! My dumplings came quickly - tasty and filling! Loved them! Their menu and counter to eat at are limited, but I'll be back to this "no frills" Fried Dumpling!

one of the og dumpling spots in Chinatown! been coming here since I was in elementary school and I'm glad to see their prices haven't really changed, still super affordable for the amount of food you get! They don't have seating inside anymore and is just a quick grab & go spot but it's DEFINITELY worth checking out. Dumplings here are fried to perfection & aren't too doughy :) they have a small order or a large order, small order was $5 for 13 dumplings, you really can't beat that nowadays lol. the same woman has been running the shop since the beginning, she's not the friendliest but she gets the job done!

13 Dumplings for $5. Is the minimum order. May 2025

It is May 2025, and yes, the place known to many as, "The Dollar Dumpling Place" on MOSCO STREET, in Chinatown, steps from Mott Street, steps from the Federal Court House at 500 Pearl Street, still does exist, but the price is now, $5 for 13 Dumplings, and $10 for 26 Dumplings. I'm glad they are still around. You can walk to the nearby park, sit on a bench, and enjoy your dumplings. See my photos.

Ok, so it's a hole in the wall....but one that my family & I always want to stop in at. The dumplings here are the best!! Don't expect great customer service lol, she literally will rush you out . Just tell her how many, pay, put on your toppings (siracha, soy sauce mixture) and get out. You purchase them cooked or you can buy frozen ones to make at home. There is nowhere to sit, so don't expect that. We usually get ours walk right out & start eating right on the sidewalk! They are a staple NY food for us to get when we go to NY & have to go Chinatown just to get them. The dumplings have a slight crunch but still remain nice and tender super tasty and full of flavor. Don't let the appearance fool you, you must give it a try. Believe me you won't regret it!

They sell like 3 things. One of them is 13 pan fried dumplings for $5. Fast, cheap and tasty. It is exactly what you'd expect, in a good way. Take out counter, cash only.

Stop 1 of 6 for the walking Chinatown dumpling tour (check profile for the list). Ranked #3 out of the 6 spots I visited. One of the OG fried dumpling spots of Chinatown, this spot is a must try. I remember when it was $1 for 4 dumplings just a short 18 years ago..... Upon walking in, it is a very small store with a very busy vibe. There are a bunch of fryers going, ladies yelling to each other (no they are not fighting) and a lot of prepackaged but "fresh" dumplings sitting on the side. Regardless of the price, it has great value for the flavor bombs. Ordered 30 dumplings for my group here and the consistency wasn't there... some dumplings were crisp, some were soggy and some were right in the middle. Disappointing to see but it's a very unfortunate trade off for the fame and recognition it has gotten over the years.

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

I hadn't been to EDH in a while and was happy to see they do have later hours (with a smaller late night menu). The place was pretty busy at 10:00 PM last Saturday, with a wide range of diners, which is good for business. The food though, at least that night, was really disappointing. My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen.

This place is elevated overpriced Pan-Asian fusion food that I feel appeals to non-Asian people. As a Chinese person I'd never really pay these prices for this kind of food which I can get for much better at authentic local restaurants in Queens, Brooklyn or Chinatown. That said, I can see the intrigue to celebrate a birthday or event here because it's very photogenic and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The noodles and rice dishes were fine; nothing amazing or horrible necessarily. And the mocktail was good but small and not worth $12 per in my opinion! Overall, I wouldn't come back and recommend this place to any Asians but it's very pretty.

Then we got a handful of apps - everyone else swore by all the ones they'd had - but I just tried the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and... sweet baby Jesus, this little plate had a wicked amount of flavor from every angle.  "Aggressively seasoned" might be an understatement.  Wild. Onto the mains and I ventured towards their Spicy Drunken Noodle (my go-to whenever I'm hitting a Thai restaurant on my home turf) and... yeah, you probably guessed it - incredible. Not the biggest portion but they made every single component sing with flavor. With so much going on - of course I needed to indulge with another drink (hey, I wasn't driving!). There were six of us, it came to about $100 a person... welcome to NYC. But we did get a wide selection of plates/food and those two drinks accounted for about $40 of my tab. (And you'll never see such a heavy wine pour at a restaurant... they filled the glass almost to the rim - which was not even something I'd do for myself when I'm home.) Definitely recommended.
