Been shopping here since it opened as FreshCo (was a Price Chopper previously). By far best local grocery store compared to the others - Loblaws and No Frills at lansdown. Always the best regular prices and always something needed that is on sale at decent discounts. Staff have always been helpful. No self checkout but thats not a complaint - there have always been adequate cashiers open to keep lines adequately short. Many of the cashiers have been there a long time which says something is only a good thing, and they're very fast too! Glad to hear the original location is staying open during the redevelopment of the site, with a new FreshCo opening in its place, in the new development. read more

Horrible. Cashiers are lazy and rude. And the acting manager on weekends smells of cigarettes and is rough around the edges. You can tell she likely never competed high school and has been there all her life. read more

This Freshco is "Ok," but it's not "A-Ok," so I've got to give 2. They stock Cheeze-Its, but not SPICY Cheeze-Its. Why? The bottom line: I've experienced better at the other Freshcos nearby. During the pandemic, they kept massive display pallets of stuff out, which jammed everyone all up together, making things uncomfortable and people tense. Granted, the store is a little smaller than others, but the store didn't seem able to rise to the occasion. I don't expect top rate fruit and veg when I visit a Freshco, but the stuff here always seems a little more bashed up than the stuff I find at other Freshcos. Leafy vegetables seem to be kept overly moist, and the packaged greens are often past their prime or right on the edge. This store lacks some of the more interesting international selections that they have at the Gladstone location. On several instances, I've found expired dairy and deli meats on the shelf (and returned on a later visit to find that they were still there). Meats are fine, the same as other Freshcos. The till staff is friendly and efficient... though new staff doesn't seem to last too long, which makes me wonder. The stocking staff seems to stay on board. They're also friendly and helpful. I must add that this Freshco has quite recently reorganized their shelves and seems a bit more on top of things. I hope that means I'll be needed to update my review and give another star soon. I used to love this store, but not anymore. It's so dirty! I just left (7:45 PM, Saturday Oct 3) and there were multiple unmasked employees stocking produce. The customer in front of me in line wasn't wearing a mask, either. I mentioned the unmasked employees to my cashier, but she just shrugged and they were supposed to. I couldn't find anyone in charge. Up front, there's no hand sanitizer and no one controlling entry, which is probably why the guy in line thought he could bareback it. I really understand delays and other Covid difficulty, but for a busy grocery store to be this bad is unacceptable. I am positive some people got infected today at FreshCo. I sure as heck won't risk it again. read more

I get it now. I can't believe how blind I was before. This freshco is food basics in disguise. You really have to be on the lookout for expired foods just being put up anyway. I've supplied some photos that were taken in one trip to food bas--i mean freshco. Saw some bagged apple slices on October 7 and they were brown and the best before date was October 5. That ain't right! No discount in sight I also saw a smashed up cake beside another smashed up cake with no discount in sight. Then I saw the bacon on sale. Have a look through my profile pics-- bacon is something I care deeply for and they had several packs looking extremely unhealthy and brown and the packaging was all loose. Like, bluhhhhh. Then in the cereal aisle I saw Tony the tiger only, his face was in a state of disarray. It had white scrape marks through his forehead cuz the box got effed up. The box was scratched like someone dragged it on a Sandy surface. Like it was on the bottom of a stack of boxes. And they just tried to blend it in w the rest. No discount in sight... Freshco you can't be trusted. read more

I went in to buy a client a grocery card. I asked if they accepted Sobeys gift cards and they do since it is a sister store. Whereas I went into Sobeys and they couldn't answer that question!! Nice big store.. I tried to look for a nail clipper but they only had baby nail clippers. He referred me to the new Dollarama down the street. read more

Not as large or as good selection as the Galleria Freshco at Dufferin and Dupont, but still a decent place to shop. Still a lot less expensive than Metro or Sobeys. read more

This place is much cheaper with more selection than the competition. The meat is pretty cheap and they have prices like $6 for 4 large chicken thighs. Choose your red meat carefully though. Some times the hamburger or steak is a grey color. Freshco is really good at ensuring your safety while preparing the meat. If the meat is mechanically tenderized, there is a sticker that tells you what to.p it must be before consumption. This was also featured on CBC's marketplace as being innovative in comparison with the competition. Always great prices. Most of their prices are cheaper everyday so other stores will not price match because it's not advertised. Fairly wide aisles at this location. Can easily accommodate wheelchairs and walking aids. Very large and fresh produce section. Pretty friendly and helpful staff. read more

While the prices are indeed good, the service has never been up to snuff in quite a while. What's worse is since the new operator came in (Don), they have an idiotic cost-cutting measure of having only three cashiers working the tills on Sunday mornings and afternoons. I mean seriously, what a perfect way to slap your customers in the face and tell them their time is valuable. As a driver, I don't need to settle for this and have a No Frills near by with very good prices and more cashiers helming the tills at peak hours. read more

I went in there a few months ago, grabbed some OJ and a few things and realized nearly all were a couple months past due date. I went up to the cashier when checking out and told her, she was indifferent. I told her people may get sick so they should go check, then a man behind me chewed her out. He said it was always like this. Fast forward to last week. I was checking out and the same cashier was there. She said she had no change to give me for the 20 I was using to pay the 4.50 bill. I asked her if she could find change, she rudely told me to calm down even though I was VERY calm. She then opened the till and had a lot of 10's, 5's and change, then told me to calm down again that she would give me change (that she had alot of). I told her I was calm then she snapped back, "Calm down". Then told me to calm down when I was walking away. I must say after walking out the door I got angry, she really got me worked up, which is what she was aiming for by her tone. I called back and complained to someone, but they said the manager was on vacation or something so who knows. Anyway, in this economy if people are not going to give good customer service there are always other places to go, which is what I've chosen to do. It's sad b/c this place is local for me. Thank god for No Frills at Dundas and Pacific which has very good service, and food that is not rotten. Oh, and I'm very calm thanks. read more

Almost no selection that was safe for me, and food that was for those with allergies weren't separated, meaning that they were contaminated. Lost track of the number of times I've gone in, seen a crowd of confused people milling about the meat aisle, and realized that once again something's on sale (and therefore mysteriously absent from the store itself). Last time it was chicken breast--oddly enough, they had truckloads of similar-looking chicken breast that wasn't on sale. When I asked a meat manager when the half-price chicken breast would come in, he couldn't tell me, but suggested I check back tomorrow afternoon (it was Saturday morning). They have a relatively small produce deparment that's strangely heavy on the Karela. Perhaps their goal is to lure you into the store for something they don't have and then try to unload a bunch of second-rate donuts and bitter melon. Two stars because it's not completely useless: Keep the flyer, because No Frills and Walmart price match. read more

Freshco has a lousy policy about matching the prices from other stores. Yes, they will match, but you can only buy 1 or 2 of the items at the matched price. I needed to buy 8 bottles of pop for an event, and they were only willing to match the price for 2 bottles. Bait and switch thinking. Also, when something is on special, you have to hunt for it in the store - not found in the place where it usually would be placed. Plus they don't have a lot of the 'special' items in stock, and folks are tricked into buying something that looks a lot like the special item, but it's not on sale.. Also, the price I was charged for an item did not match the price posted for the item on the shelf, and the item wasn't even on sale. You have to be very alert to the prices they are rining up - veyr deceptive. I avoid this store unless I am desparate. read more

The absolute worst grocery store ever. They only ever have two cashiers on when I'm there and the lines are long. Most of the produce is past its sell by date. ( Tomatoes and fruit that have maybe a few days left before they go bad ) Grapes that are already spoiled still being sold. This particular location smacks of " food dumping " meaning they toss all the stuff from their Sobey's stores thats about to go bad to their FreshCo stores. ( Is it just in Regent Park they do this? ) Oh and my favourite thing about this location.. ( sarcasm ) is that all the healthy food never goes on sale and all the junk food does. I left my cart in the line and walked out of there today in disgust. read more

I will give Freshco points for being cheap. That being said, if you are looking for a advertised sale item - they don't have it. If you are looking for a specialty item - they don't have it. If you wan't to pick up a couple items and be in and out - this isn't the right store. They are always understaffed (likely to offer such low low prices). So you will wait, and wait. Likely even longer than you expected as the store attracts bottom feeders who will argue about the bag surcharge, try to redeem expired coupons and require at a price check for at least one item in their cart. 8/10 times, going to Freshco is a painful experience. I often just opt to pay more and hit the Loblaws to avoid the frustration. read more

I was in there about a week and a half ago, bought 5 packages of ground beef (the tray packs) and a bunch of fruits and vegetables to use for both personal consumption as well as making my own dog food. I froze the meat (because I worry about bacteria) and cooked it 2 days ago... what is the point you ask? Myself, two other adults, a child and 4 dogs all got salmonella from the bad meat (vet & dr confirmed) I called the store and spoke to the asst manager who told me (almost verbatim) "Huh, well, the manager is in Las Vegas and won't be back until next week and since the meat is already in circulation there's nothing I can do about it." That's it... no apology, no refund no oh my gosh people are eating that crap! I went to their website to file a complaint there, however the page where I was supposed to fill out the form was down. AWESOME customer service Freshco... NOBODY eat the meat there! We're all still sick! (oh and you guys get less than zero stars!) PS Just got off the phone with the head office who listened to what I said then told me "thank you very much I'll forward this to the store manager (they never asked me which store I purchased the meat from so how are they going to call anyone?). Again, no apology no refund no concern whatsoever. You guys suck! read more

This grocery store has the selection of food you'd expect in one of the more expensive and downtown grocery stores, but it has prices that are only a little above No Frills. AWESOME! As a vegan I appreciate that it has a selection of veggie-meats, non-dairy-cheese, and non-dairy milk (soy, almond, etc.), vegan margarine. Produce is decent, too. read more

Until a few weeks ago this used to be a dark, disorganized and characteristically sketchy Price Chopper that I would only ever visit if I was purchasing something non-perishable (and even then...). Then there were renovations, and now it's Fresh Co., which still carries Our Compliments products and seems to have the same prices. While I don't think it's "gorgeous, just gorgeous" like I overheard a fellow patron telling a stock boy who didn't seem to care all that much, it is brighter and more orderly inside, and the produce looks less wilted and picked over. 3 stars, tentatively. read more

I have been shopping at this store for years and am always impressed with the reasonable prices and large selection of brands. The produce is fresh and usually plentiful. One of the reasons I enjoy shopping at this store is because of the friendly and helpful cashiers and floor personnel. A special shout out to Jose. She is a remarkable person who will always go out of her way to smile, say hello and ask you how you are, answer your questions and help you find items. She is a pro and this store is lucky to have her. She is one of the reasons I keep coming back. She is a role model and Freshco should be proud to have her as part of their team. read more

Although I have no complaints about the products at this store - I find what I need at prices I can't complain about - I can't believe the unprofessionalism of the cashiers. Lots are young women, and they chat loudly with each other, about silly irrelevant stuff, even while serving customers. They sometimes talk less loudly with another staff member right nearby about WORK stuff! I feel like I won the lottery if I'm greeted with a sincere smile and a bit of interest. Some of the older staff area also apathetic and indifferent. Where is the training? Why aren't these staff trained and expected to treat customers with respect and professionalism, with interest and warmth? Are the staff at Loblaws simply paid more or are they trained better?
