We are big fans of Fresh Salt in the South Street Seaport area of NYC as it's truly like a fishing village with a local bar here. One must order at the counter but that works out as they have great AC inside and wonderful outdoor seating outside. The food is large and portions of the sandwiches are awesome. The outside areas seemed way more busy but I cannot be that far from a server for that long and I preferred indoors, anyways and I do not like leash-less dogs roaming around the tables as much as the ordinary person might. They do an open mic comedy night here too that I would love to see next time we are in the areas. The bartenders are no nonsense but kind. They made us feel like a local. The Sauvignon Blanc is also not to be missed and neither is their happy hour while pouring glass after glass of it. read more

On a wintry evening I arrived with a party of 9 for happy hour at 5pm, with reservations made prior. The staff indicated where our tables were reserved, and we got seated immediately. Only one other group of about 7-8 people was there, apparently also for after-work drinks. There isn't full table service so I grabbed some menus and brought them over to our group, another colleague took the drinks and food order and informed the staff at the bar of what we wanted. After about 15-20 minutes we went back to the bar to pick up our items and bring them to our table. We ordered: - hummus plate large $13.52: fresh chopped veggies atop a mound of hummus, served with soft pita slices. A sizeable platter. - pigs in a blanket x2 $13.52 each: 5 pieces served freshly baked outta the oven, tasty savory comfort food. - veggie quesadilla $13.52: again decent portion size and good amount of melted cheese and veggies smothered between the tortillas. - tzatziki plate large $13.52: yogurt dip served with sliced cucumbers and pita bread. - a couple rounds of drinks $ varied: I got the blood orange mule which was kinda bland, it was a little citrusy though I couldn't make out blood orange, but the amount of alcohol in it was just right for me. All the drinks were served in small drinking water glasses so visually not super appealing. We stayed for about 2 hours and chatted away with minimal further interaction with the staff outside of placing second round drinks. While I wasn't thrilled by the lack of table service, but at the same time there was no pressure to leave in a hurry. Given the reasonable prices for the bar snacks and drinks in this neighborhood, would recommend this spot for a low key hang out. Happy hour is 4-8 on weekdays and 2-8pm on Saturdays. Drafts $8.32, house liquor $8.32, select wines $10.10. A mocktail menu with non-alcoholic options is also available. 4% discount if paying in cash. read more

Fresh salt's been true gem in FiDi, it's a chill neighborhood bar w small food menu, you order your drinks and food at the bar and a server will bring them to your table. The bar serve some drafts and fulI bar menu w limited wine selections and some cocktails. I had margarita and chicken sandwich last time I was there and it was not superb but not bad either! Was looking for somewhere with outdoor seating for a bite and a drink. After viewing several restaurants that didn't grab my attention, I came across Fresh Salt with their Happy Hour sign. They have happy hour seven days a week from 4-8 pm. Wine and mixed drinks are $6 and drafts are. $5. Their food consists of sandwiches and small plates. The service is friendly and down to earth. My happy hour red was a drinkable Montepulciano. My grilled chicken sandwich on a bed of greens was what I needed and relatively healthy. The food and drink was a 3.5, and the service and the prices were 5 stars. Inflation has not hit their prices which are amazingly low. I'll be back when I check out a concert at Pier 17 later this summer. read more

Brooo The artichoke dip is to die for. It was hearty and gooey and just the perfect ratio. I think I could eat it once a week. Only wish was pita was flashed grilled or something but whatever. I would also go as far to say the cocktails were very cheap considering it's in Financial District. I would have rate this place closer to one dollar sign than two. read more

I've been to Fresh Salt a couple of times in the past, and when it comes to being in a comfortable environment to catch up with friends, this place does not fail to please. First, finding a venue that has happy hour isn't so easy in the vicinity, and theirs is quite good. Happy hour specials run from 4 pm to 8 pm and it includes: $6 wine such as Rose, Sauvignon Blanc & Montepulciano as well as $5 draft beer and well drinks. In addition, their craft cocktails normally $12 were $8. There was no table service therefore orders must be placed at the bar for both food and drink---however, food was served to the table once ready. We settled in the back part of the establishment but there were also seats at the bar and when the weather permits--outdoor dining. Their menu in terms of food was simple but diverse: sandwiches, salads, dips for sharing (hummus & artichoke) and additional plates. For drink, I selected Rose while my friends opted for the red. We also ordered food upon which two of my friends chose the meatloaf sandwich while I went with the breaded eggplant sandwich. Most entrees averaged at $12 with some less expensive items. My sandwich was breaded eggplant (assuming it was fried) with mozzarella and pesto on a ciabatta bread. I chose a salad rather than potato chips to accompany the delicious sandwich. My friends enjoyed their meal very much. Fresh Salt is a cute, homey type of establishment with good choices. Music seemed to be of the 60s genre all evening. Stumbled upon this place with the help of Yelp one Saturday night in the Seaport. We were looking for a place with chill vibes, not-too-loud music with good food and drinks, and this place checked all the boxes. We sat at the bar, which is small and intimate (I think there were about 6 seats total). The bartender was attentive and friendly, and the mixed drinks were tasty. I think this place is a cool bar to hang out in for after work drinks or maybe a date. It feels very cozy and has fun music playing. That being said, it isn't the best if you want a sit down dinner. First of all, table service ends after 4pm so you have to order everything at the bar and then get your own water, glasses, etc. the menu isn't huge, mostly sandwiches and salads. I came for dinner after an outdoor concert at the seaport nearby and had been wanting to check this place out anyways. I ordered the turkey and Brie sandwich with a side of quinoa. The sandwich was pretty good- it comes on nice toasted whole grain bread. The turkey was cold though so it would have been nice if the whole sandwich had been grilled, not just toasted bread and then put together. The quinoa salad was ok, not bad but nothing special. The drink I ordered, (I think the Beekman) was quite good though. If I were to go back it would probably be for happy hour since all the cocktails sounded really good! read more

It's a small bar with a few tables in the back that's good for larger groups (4-8ppl), and they have standing room in the front and seats outside for when it's warm. Some days they're empty but the last few times I've been they've had reservations for tables and a sizeable crowd, so would recommend calling ahead to get a table if you have a larger group. read more

Cute little neighborhood spot in the seaport. Three of us came here last night after ice skating at Pier 17. It was valentines day so we knew a lot of the restaurants in the area would have been packed with romantic, date night vibes, and that wasn't what we were looking for, so this place was perfect. Low key, small restaurant. There are no waitresses or waitress service, so you order everything at the bar. We got there right before happy hour ended which was great, so we got their Greenport beer. Not totally sure what it was, but their only HH beers were their three on draft, and she said that one was the most similar to a Bud Light, so it worked for us. This place has a very small menu, mostly sandwiches. I had the eggplant sandwich with pesto, mozzarella, and tomato on ciabatta and it was delicious. Really enjoyed it. I didn't mind the no waitress service, and have been to plenty of places like that, but the only thing I didn't like was the bartenders weren't very friendly. It was not crowded at all, and when we ordered drinks and then again when we order food, we had to wait at the bar a bit bc either the bartender was taking shots, or talking or just not being helpful. Then when I was walking back to my table w 3 pints of beer, one of the bartenders, was just standing by the tables watching me, without offering to help. I have been to this happy hour budget friendly joint twice last year and it a nice hole in a wall spot in downtown Manhattan. I have had their pizzas which goes well with their happy hour drink specials. The mac n' cheese looks great and is pretty popular. The mixed drink (I got a moscow mule) cost only $8, but a margarita cost only $6 from 4pm-8pm. I came here on a Friday with a party of four during happy hour and there weren't a lot of people eating at the restaurant yet. The waitress who had dark hair was serving us right off the bat was extremely rude and was trying to rush our order. Her impatience made us hesitant of staying but we decided to give this restaurant a try - worst mistake. Their drinks are mediocre, the artichoke dip was extremely salty. One of my friends ordered a cup of soup and it never arrived! When we wanted the check she avoided us like the plague and we ended up asking another server.
