Great little store with TONS OF VEGAN OPTIONS. I found vegan pizza and even vegan ice cream sandwiches! I swung by this store to pick up goods for a shoot I was working on at UT. The manager helped me grab all the stuff I needed and helped load up my car. Excellent store with excellent service and competitive prices. All the staff is nice. Place is pretty clean. I like that they have organic cat food and vegan products and single La Croix if you're in the mood for just one. read more

Meat is gross and usually 90% out of stock. And everything else in the store in stock is outrageously priced. Also the staff is utterly incompetent of helping with anything. Literally the entire staff sucks. It's a bunch of half asleep stoned college kids. As is half the area, but no excuse when running a business. Great place to grab things you need on the fly. They have a good selection and numerous brands of each item - obviously a little more pricey than a usual grocery store (but that's too be expected) the staff is college kids so they could really care less about customer service. Four stars for that this store is well-stocked for its size, the prices are reasonable considering that the rent must be high in this nabe, the place is always clean and tidy, items are easy to find on the shelves, and the employees are generally pleasant and helpful (despite the revolving-door aspect to their staffing, mostly of students). (I don't need the big performance of a fake smile and being called "sir" - I work for a living, too.) I've been going to this store's location since the day it opened, and the quality of all that has remained consistent. This review would be five stars, but 8:15 is too early in the morning to be faced with a wide-open skin-tight top displaying nice young, firm bewbs. The girl behind the register was wearing this thing open down to her sternum, showing a lot more than could be called "cleavage." Still just waking-up, at the grocery store on a Saturday morning, it was all I could do to prevent myself from squeezing the melons. If she might have been unsettled by my staring, I'm sorry, but it's kinda automatic for a man, and too much of a strain for most men in a pre-coffee state of mind to deal with. 2 stars for convenience and the few employees who actually smile. I waited today for the cashier to quit fiddling with her phone before the other cashier girl ( who was on the phone with her boss, I presume, figuring out a pricing issue ) told her, "oh, she can help you." She seemed miserable and was rude. Lunch meats expired on September 5th ...expired things are common here, and produce is pretty limited/bad quality. I wouldn't have written this review if it wasn't for miserable girl at the register today. I think I'm done with this location. read more

The West Campus neighborhood was SORELY in need of a decent grocery store. Although this one isn't full-size, it's the closest thing, without making the long trek to Randall's or HEB. Before this store, if you had no car, you had to either bike to Randall's, or take the #338 bus to HEB, and even then, you could only get two bags, and you had to carry them up that terribly steep hill at Lamar and MLK. Now, I bike a mere block to Fresh Plus. The inside is very classy and upscale, great decor. The products are comparable to Sun Harvest, Wheatsville, or Whole Foods. They even have a deli where you can get fresh cut sandwich meat! The wine selection is great. They even have Blue Sky Sodas! Other reviewers have complained that the produce isn't fresh. My point: the closest place to even GET produce before this place was Wheatsville. So if you ever need some garlic or peppers for cooking, you don't have to break your back to get them! You can also get hamburger meat and stuff like that here... There's rarely a line, items are easy to find, and shopping experiences tend to be quick and painless. And yeah, the selection isn't everything that a large grocery store would have, but it's still WAY better than the bodegas, gas stations, or 7-11s that this neighborhood has to offer. All in all, I consider this place a Godsend, and a much-needed addition to the neighborhood. I hope they do well, because at this point, I've become dependent on their services. read more

They don't bother to update their times online, so people RUN to the store to get here before "closing time" (listed as 22:00 on yelp and apple) only to discover "mon-sun 8am-9pm" on the door. For the only nearby "grocery store" in west campus, not bad. Friendly service, and they actually do have more selections of produce and healthy foods than other stores in the area. However, most of these are not very fresh. I imagine they are leftover batches. I have tried getting fresh cut fruit multiple times, and each time the fruit tastes very old. Prices are not bad considering this is not an actual grocery store and thus has marked up prices. If you're in desperate need of produce with no car, this is a decent stop. Otherwise, make the effort to go to your local HEB. read more

I'm giving this Fresh Plus four stars because I feel like the pros mostly outweigh the cons. Pros: Really convenient location if you live in West Campus. Reasonable prices. Great beer selection. Relatively healthy options. Clean store. Cons: A lot of their food items that I've been picking up lately have been expired, and I'm guessing this has to do with a need to reevaluate which items they buy and stock on their shelves in general; maybe they can set out forms for customer suggestions in terms of what they'd like to see in the store. Also, their fruit selection is pretty bad. I'd like to see this store do well particularly because it's the only grocery store that serves West Campus. Most of the next closest grocery stores are near Hyde Park, and I like being able to walk down the street sometimes to grab a couple of things. read more

Small grocery store. Came here for a bachelorette weekend. Mainly for liquor and beers. They did not have liquor in stock but mainly beers and spiked drinks. There is a liquor store just down the street. But if you don't mind drinking beer this place is to go. If you're more in for the liquor go down the street. Really not much groceries either. I really really want to love this place. The fact that West Campus finally has a real grocery store is a huge plus for the neighborhood and its transformation into one of the few dense, walkable communities in Texas. And most of this store is great! Reasonable prices, good selection of produce and snacks. My sole complaint is about the deli counter. The meat I ordered was a weird discolored hue around the edges and the first slice, and it smelled nasty. Unfortunately I didn't notice this before getting home. I suspect not enough people are ordering from the deli and their cuts of meat are going bad before they can get through the entire chunk. Other than that, it's a top notch grocery store! read more

I will NEVER shop at Fresh Plus Grocery again. An employee at the store refused to provide me with assistance in telling me the availability of an item over the phone, then proceeded to be disrespectful and use profane language towards me when I came into the store. I don't have a car, and I live right across the street from this location. I basically come here every day to get fresh ingredients. All the workers recognize me and ask how my day is going. It's such a friendly atmosphere. I'm glad I didn't have a car to commute to HEB, because I wouldn't have found this gem of a place otherwise. They have a good selection of locally grown produce, and a wide variety of other items. The store is always being restocked or cleaned when I go, so the upkeep is great too. Very pleased to have a place to pick up some fast groceries in west campus. It is more expensive, but very convenient. If you really need to buy something this place is the best in the area. Awesome Grocery! I had always been wanting to come visit this place but I first got the pleasure to do so today. Other than their awesome selection of beer and niche organic products, one personal favorite was their collection of Pokemon drawings throughout the inside of the store. Whoever did those did an amazing job and brings a personal touch to the aesthetic of the market. read more
