The Mini falafels come with 8 and are bite size on the tahini plate- I loved putting all the tahini on it. The Charred broccoli was exactly what I wanted, it's crispy and comes with a lemon garlic aioli. The Maghrebi potatoes come in thick, crispy slices on pickled lemon red pepper tahini. The Shawarma oyster mushrooms also another hit. We also ordered flat bread special which was feta & pomegranate seeds. Overall I was just so impressed with every dish. For dessert we ordered the halva & S'mores bourekas which was light & not overly sweet for a finish. Parking- street parking

This review is long overdue because I first fell in love with Mazal as I impatiently anticipated their opening. I lived nearby and watched the progress as the owner and his father spent nearly two years building out the beautiful interior of the restaurant themselves. Everything about Mazal is a labor of love involving their entire family, including menu items that are grown in their orchard. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, whether you are in the dining room or on the patio. I'm back in LA frequently now and come to Mazal nearly every time. In addition to the hummus you have to have spicy tahini (or the new-to-me adorable mini falafel and tahini plate). My other new favorite I'll definitely have again is the shawarma oyster mushrooms, air-fried and served on cannellini bean purée with mint chimichurri. Everything is incredibly fresh and delicious. You don't want to miss the bourekas (the assortment of five cheese bourekas is something I dream about), the maghrebi potatoes (on tahini!), and the marble halva (take it home if you don't have room after all of the aforementioned must-haves and thank me later).

I ordered the filet mignon and it was impeccable -- genuinely the best halal steak I've ever had. I even ate the chili pepper it came with, which says a lot for me Their Anis tea was both beautiful and comforting after a long day working an event, and I ended the night with their honey cake... OMG. I genuinely never want to leave SoCal because of this cake alone. I'll actually be back in July for another work event and already told my sister I'm bringing her here with me just so she can experience it too. Special shoutout to Bella for the amazing service -- she took such great care of me the entire evening and made the experience even better.

When we pointed it out, they said they couldn't void the transaction due to a "new system," which didn't make sense. Instead of fixing it properly, they gave partial cash refund instead, so the bill still wasn't correct. On top of that, an 18% tip was added to the incorrect total. Overall, the billing process was unclear and handled unprofessionally.

The duck hummus, shawarma neck, and tuna kibbeh were all standout dishes. Why overpay at places like Raffi's Place, where the food feels overpriced without showing where the extra money went? Here, you can actually see the quality, creativity, and presentation that justify the price, and the packed dining room proves it. The only downside was that the waitress pushed an appetizer on us twice when we really didn't need it. Two entrées are more than enough to fill you up. Also, because the restaurant stays so busy, don't expect much small talk with the staff. It's very efficient and businesslike, but your food arrives quickly and on time.

Our server pushed for us to order another app/entree even after I told them that we were happy with the amount we ordered. Afterwards, when it was time to pay the bill they "accidentally" added a $315 bottle of wine on our bill which we did not order. This definitely impacted our overall experience negatively.
