However, they posted a closure notice explicitly stating that unused sessions could be redeemed at partner locations, including Refresh Massage Spa at 123 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY. On June 4, 2026, at 2:30 PM, I visited the 123 Smith St location to redeem a remaining session. Staff refused service, claiming my card number and phone number were not in their notebook. I presented Card #40 and explained my account had been verified during previous visits. I asked to speak with a manager and requested copies of my membership records, but staff refused both requests and stated no records were available. The business is violating the written commitment provided in their closure notice. Resolution Requested: Immediate fulfillment of the remaining 7 prepaid 60-minute sessions at the designated partner location or another authorized location, as promised. A complete copy of all membership records, visit history, and service records for Card #40. If the business claims no records exist--despite previously verifying my account to provide service--this indicates a gross failure by the company to maintain adequate customer and service tracking.

Their sidewalk prices reflect their cash price for services, pre-tax and pre-tip, and they'll direct you to the enormous ATM machine positioned right at the desk where you settle up to make the point that they prefer (sometimes will only accept) cash. That's not subtle, but it's fine i guess. But then when it comes to tipping, it's so interesting-- even if you volunteer a 20% tip on the credit card price, they will tell you it's not enough, will do something on a calculator behind the desk and then show you a number on the calculator that is more like 28-30% tip. If you protest and say something along the lines of "I'm so sorry, that's not correct- i teach math, i understand percents, that is not a 20% tip. What i gave you was a 20% tip. The customer decides the tip," they argue and basically play chicken with you until you give in or leave feeling like they and everyone still getting their feet rubbed behind you think that you are a down-dirty thief or something. It's like they're banking on your discomfort and post-massage brain fuzz to get a 30% tip. I watched them do this to one customer during the foot part of my last massage and then heard them do it to another customer while i was getting my back worked on during the same visit... and then, yep, they did it to me, too. I gave them what they wanted, knowing i would never, ever be back, and that i would probably stop going to their sister massage spot a few blocks away even though I've been a regular there for 18 years and really like their massages. I wasn't going to post a review about this-- that last visit where they challenged my math was actually 5 months ago, i just walked away and committed to not going there anymore-- but i overheard two young women in a restaurant talking about this happening to them today, too, and wondering how they messed up the tipping so bad. It's not you, bebes, it seems to be the business model unfortunately. It wasn't always this way, but at least since November 2025, it seems to be a common occurrence. Check the reviews- it's mentioned in several other reviews besides mine, too. It's a shame. It gives basic, nuts-and-bolts tui-na spots a bad rep. So: Stay away.
