3.5 I have been checking reviews for this place due to proximity and the costs seemed extremely fair. I was charged $49 for a 60 minute massage. I did not have an appointment, however, I was able to be seen within 15 minutes or so. Typically they ask you where you want them to focus or what have been aching you-- that was not done here, but I guess that was okay. There was no banter, the lady just went to work. I want to reiterate I'm very used to massages, even though it's been about two years since I did one. The lady was actually hurting-- I'm a bigger guy, I have a high pain tolerance but it was way too much. I think she saw me noticeably flinching a lot; I asked her not to be as rough. It got a little better but she applied way too much pressure. The whole massage to me was a bit unique, so of the style utilized was unfamiliar with me. I did appreciate the hot stones toward the end, though. I wanted to hold off on writing my review until I saw how I woke up or if I was going to be in pain, lol. My cousin and I booked a 1 hour massage via their online portal. We did not receive a confirmation email, so we decide to call day of to check. They did receive the booking on their end. I do recommend calling to book instead just because there are no email reminders. The 1 hour body massage was $49 + $11 tip. The masseuse was really applying some serious pressure and would check in once or twice during the massage to be sure the pressure is okay. As the massage was going, I felt all the knots in my body. She was able to get some of them out, but I could tell there were plenty more. The massage was very relaxing to a point where I almost fell asleep. I enjoyed the 2 hot stones they used during the massage. It felt like it was burning my back, but in a good way. The bed seemed clean, there was a sheet on top of the massage bed to lay on for cleanliness. The music was calming and the place was pretty quiet for our 6pm appointment. Overall, I'd recommend others to come give it a try. Especially for the price alone, it was very worth it. Parking wasn't too hard on the street. Possibly one of the worst massage experiences I've ever had. I booked a couples massage for my mom and myself as a Christmas gift. My masseuse seemed to be falling asleep at multiple points throughout the massage. I could feel the pressure trailing off as she dozed off, then vigorous rubbing as she woke up and realized she had just been holding onto one of my limbs for 30 seconds. I wasn't sure she was falling asleep when I was laying on my front, but it happened consistently and I caught her nodding off when I was laying on my back. Aside from that, she seemed to miss every pressure point. A lot of the massage was her rubbing her forearm on my oiled back with no noticeable change in pressure or focus. I left with the same pain that I came in with, plus some new ones. I was given a small 7% discount once I explained my issues to the front desk, plus a rewards card with 3 punches (instead of 2), but I wouldn't want to come back to take the gamble. Stopped by with the wife for a couples massage and had a great experience. They catered to what we wanted, my wife wanted a more gentle massage where as for me, I wanted a deep tissue. When your masseuse is huffing and puffing while giving me a massage, it tells you that they put in a lot effort to ensure i got what I wanted. The atmosphere was great and nice soft music. I came here around 5pm today. I walked in with no appointment and was asked if I had a preference of masseuse and I stated I did not. A gentleman came and accommodated me in my recliner. About 5 minutes into what I thought would be a relaxing experience, the receptionist comes and speaks to him in their language and he stops. He then excuses himself and the receptionist walks away. Not once was I acknowledged or told that I would be changed masseuses nor asked if that was okay with me. I honestly stayed seated because I was exhausted. About two minutes later a new masseuse comes and reluctantly continues the body work. She then asks me when I started. SMH. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. PLEASE TREAT YOUR CLIENTS WITH COURTESY AND RESPECT. I let the lady finish, paid, and tipped. Again, never acknowledged by the receptionist. Rude, rude, rude. I see that I should have booked an appointment and may have avoided a misunderstanding, but it still doesn't account for TRASH customer service. I'm in desperate need of a good massage. With my trusted Yelp app in hand, I found this place. I called beforehand to schedule an appointment and was able to book it for the next hour. Place was dark and quiet, as soon as I walked in; front desk lady quickly assigned me a female masseuse. I got the full body massage with additional 10 minutes added once I use my Yelp check-in. The full body massage includes hot stone treatment for the back and lower legs. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, it seemed a bit short. Masseuse told me that my left shoulder is very tight and tense, if that was the case I hoped she would've knead deeper onto my left side. Decided on a whim to book an appointment at Tang Spa for a much needed massage. I was able to book an appointment slot within the hour for a 90 min full body massage as well as a 30 min foot rub. Service here is friendly & efficient - within minutes of checking in, I was ready for the massage! My massage therapist, Hannah, was extremely attentive and made sure to get out all of my knots. I really appreciated how she took her time whenever she found my knots, and didn't automatically assume they'd in the same area on the other side. Pressure was perfect, and she let up the pressure whenever requested. I left feeling rejuvenated and with significantly less tension in my shoulder and neck areas. Total for the 2 hour massage came out to $99 (SO worth it). Will definitely be back soon! read more

As a frequent customer, I'm very disappointed with the service I received today. I usually go for Jojo or Amy as they are a wonderful masseuse and provide great service. Today, I decided to go get a massage with my friend but we didn't make an appointment so we didn't ask for them. We got a one-hour body massage which is $49 and we both tipped 20% ($10) to our masseuse. They both gave us the dirtiest look and didn't even say thank you! During a pandemic one must be extra careful that the businesses they patronize are clean and take safety protocols seriously and at Tang they definitely do. Every employee was wearing a mask over their mouth and nose. Also there was plenty of hand sanitizer available and the place was spotless. I visited Tang because I had heard that Coco who a few years ago had been my favorite masseuse at Kimberley in Chinatown (before moving to another place somewhere in Queens) was now working here. The woman might look petite, but when giving a massage, you'll swear she could bench 250! I have gone here several times for a back massage - 30 minute to 60 minutes. I Would recommend to make reservations , usually they can accommodate for reservations made day of. I would recommend the 60 minutes from a deal perspective and it actually goes by fast . I request a specific person and tell her where focus on and the level of pressure . I got to say that usually my masseuse listens to what I want and checks in on me on the pressure . They do a good job. You pay in the front and tip your masseuse . I requested specifically for them to focus on my neck, upper back and lower back but they ended up just going the whole body. I normally get a deep tissue massage as I like a little pain to my massages. The masseuse was a bit gentle unfortunately. Parts I did like was that they do use a hot stone for a small portion of the massage which felt great. After oiling me up they wipe you down with a hot towel. Really enjoyed my massage here, but there are a few things to note. Number 1- if you're getting a foot massage, you are in the front room with the reservation desk. It is loud. It would be nice if there was some sort of separation or divider as I found it distracting. Number 2- I asked for a foot massage. At some point, the woman told me to get in the chair to finish my massage. I did not realize this was upgrading what I purchased by $15 as it was not explained. Some places do this with a regular foot massage. Lesson learned, question them if they say anything to you. Outside of that, I thought the massage was good. The pricing was still reasonable, and the staff was very nice. They definitely take walk ins, which is nice as many places don't. read more

Had the worst experience here today. My masseuse basically seemed like she was falling asleep while massaging me. I paid for the 60 minute back + 30 minute feet. Back was okay but the last 30 minutes for the foot massage was horrendous. She did not put any pressure even after I asked her to go harder. HORRIBLE MASSAGE, EVEN WORSE SERVICE. Come here if you want a masseuse to take their bad day out on you. And then they'll lie to you about how they'll make it up to you so they delay the inevitable bad review. But here I am. I tried them TWICE and they sucked TWICE. The first time I came here with a few girlfriends for the foot and body combination. Foot massage is first and I had a male (Gary) who was pretty good actually. Then they lead you to the room for the body massage. 10 mins into the massage, they switched masseuses on me without telling me. I realized by the shock of the horrible pinchy hands that suddenly started hurting me. I understand Mandarin, so I heard the masseuse shouts to her co worker, "HOW MUCH LONGER?" I've never had a masseuse ask this during a massage. She was clearly annoyed and I can tell by her tone and her touch for the rest of the hour. She gave me the laziest massage going over and over the same spots and it started to hurt. When I told her it is hurting because she kept going over the same spots, she got annoyed and huffed. Then it really changed up and she got lazier. We made eye contact when I turned over and she looked at me as if I kicked her dog. I told the receptionist what happened. She apologizes, took my number down, and she hands me a gift card and says "20 mins free for you next time". The owner texted me later that night to find out what happened and let me know they took care of the issue and hoping I'd come back. It was all sounding like great customer service until I went back the next week. HERE'S THE KICKER: I went back the following week hoping for a nice 30 minute foot massage on my day off. I would have no problem paying 10 mins on top and tipping of course - so long as it not that lady again. I arrived and let them know I have a gift card for 20 mins free. I handed it to them and the receptionist says "Oh no, this gift card is for 20 mins free after you pay an hour". NOWHERE ON THE CARD SAYS THIS. THE CARD LITERALLY SAYS 'A GIFT FOR YOU'. I explained to her that I was given this after I had a bad experience and they were making it up to me. She didn't really care to listen and looked at me like I'm crazy. Soooooo to make it up to me, they lied to me AND they want me to spend more of my money. That's nice. I left and texted the owner. I told them what happened and they said their gift card is standard to give free 20 mins after paying for a first hour. So now I'm teaching the business owner how to not have misleading information and how fine print SHOULD ACTUALLY BE ON THE CARD. Also, their receptionists should not be lying to people to take care of an unhappy customer on their shift. They all frankly didn't seem to care. They all need a lesson on customer service at every level here. I gave them another chance, because everyone deserves another chance - and they royally F%#&ED that up. It was all around bad service every step of the way. The receptionist, the masseuse, and the owner. If they'll be that rude in front of someone who understands their language, how rude do you think they'll be with people who don't understand them? The massage was horrible - nothing against Gary though, he was good. I love supporting small businesses around the area, but I won't be coming here again. These tired nurse's feet will go elsewhere. WOW!! Hands down the best massage place in Bay Ridge! It's been a while since I've written a Yelp review, but I will gladly take out my phone for Tang Spa. It's extremely clean and currently open taking all covid precautions. I literally don't think I've ever been to a cleaner spa in the area. I got the 1 hour chair massage plus foot massage for $45. Not a bad price for how amazing this place truly is and what a great job they do. I was having shoulder/neck pain so I wanted a chair massage. They also have extremely comfortable and brand new recliners for a relaxing foot massage. Now go see Lucy!
