After the massages were complete, my friend went to the counter to pay for both of us (my friend was also paying for me as a treat). My friend gave $20 tip each to the man processing the payment (the man is the owner) so that he could give to each of our female massagers (altogether $40 tip for both). However, the man stated to my friend that the $20 tip each for the massagers was not enough and stated that $30 each was a good amount. My friend thought that was crazy! That was more or less half the amount of the massage price itself. Also, who suggests what amount of tip the customer should pay? That is so tacky, especially when the tip being paid is already a significant amount. If the owner had not done that then we definitely would have returned for monthly massages but because of that we were turned off and decided we would not come back despite the massages having been really good which is the reason for the 2-star rating. I would have given it a 5-star rating if it wasn't for the tipping scenario.

I did not have an appointment, however, I was able to be seen within 15 minutes or so. Typically they ask you where you want them to focus or what have been aching you-- that was not done here, but I guess that was okay. There was no banter, the lady just went to work. I want to reiterate I'm very used to massages, even though it's been about two years since I did one. The lady was actually hurting-- I'm a bigger guy, I have a high pain tolerance but it was way too much. I think she saw me noticeably flinching a lot; I asked her not to be as rough. It got a little better but she applied way too much pressure. The whole massage to me was a bit unique, so of the style utilized was unfamiliar with me. They are located next to the facial place and decided I'll try them afterward. I didn't check them out on Yelp or Google and made the decision on the spot. When I entered, I saw pricing for foot bath/massage at one price (large price banner outside shop) and inside smaller price sheet listed $5 more. Umm... okay, whatever (maybe that includes tips because some people no tipping?). The shop was bigger than expected as I walked deeper/into the inner area. There were many masseurs just waiting for clients. There were some small private rooms on the left side but majority of the front room was one open space with tables (and small side curtains) diving each table for massages (seems off putting). As I walked deeper inside, my inner thought said I should have Yelp it but too late as I followed the host inside. In the very back room were chairs for foot massage. As I sat and waited, I did a quick Yelp search and was abit more reluctant. Burning hot hot hot water basin tub was given to me to soak my feet. I guess there are many dirty feet that walked in here and they want to make sure feets were clean before massage? I had to slowly ease my feet in (a delicate dance of dipping my feet in and out to prevent burns). I wish they could have ask the temp at least and then adjust as needed. As according to other reviewers, this place is not your fancy spa place. NO FRILLS, shabby place but they get the job done. At this point, I'm abit concerned but no going back now. When he finally started on the massage part, it was lovely even tho I had to keep cautioning him to be more gentle. They do very hard pressure to work out the knots.... or maybe he doesn't know his strength? I'm not into very deep/hard pressure massage so I know that I rather have it abit more gentle (traumatized by my first body massage by a Korean auntie at a Korean spa. And you know they can be rough, hence me always like my massage abit more gentler.) After requesting him to "be abit more gentle", he ease up and I was able to enjoy it more. Steady-even medium pressure massage is perfect for me. There was a customer who got seated next to me and they converse together. She also got the foot massage (it also typically comes with a shoulder/upper back massage but I wanted only the foot part). As they converse (loudly), he forgot and would ocassionally increase pressure, hence me kept repeating to be gentler. Other than that, it was a lovely experience. I think and agree with other Yelpers, if you just want simple massage and like harder/rougher pressure, this is the place for you. I can imagine them working the knots out of your back if you did a full body massage, but make sure to opt for private rooms. Some of the reviews about the open public space made me cringe as I wouldn't want my bare bottom out for strangers to view/ogle.

Last time I check tip was based on services rendered and I gave the lady $15 for what i believed was more than generous since she was so distracted the whole 1hour of the massage.
