The first part of the massage the lady working on my body, I didn't get her name, was talking to somebody outside the room, but that was only for a short period of time. That was a bit distracting, but once that was over, it was fantastic. It was a nice firm massage, which I've gotten to like. If she got a little bit too hard, I would let her know. One funny thing, if I'm getting a good massage, I grunt and groan quite a bit. Apparently, I was grunting and groaning a little bit too much, because she says to me, "you moaning too loud." oops! Once again, they want to protect that image....... The entire massage was on my back. She massage my scalp, my neck, my back, my legs, my arms, she used a nice lotion, and I also got the hot stones. In addition to the hot stones, I also got a hot pack against my neck, and another one on my back for a little bit. That also felt very good. I wish she would've had me flip and do my front for a little bit, but the fact that she did spend an entire hour on my back really did feel good for my back. The price was very reasonable. The hour was only $55, plus a five dollar surcharge for using my credit card. She also got a nice tip on top of that. I will probably stop in one more time before I leave Staten Island. It has been a challenge finding a place to go to after Health Trail closed down. I've been to many others ever since and today I found Yuan Shi and they are what I've been searching for. I now have bad knees and back pains. I came in on a Sunday and got an hour of the Chinese full body Tui Na. Michael was my masseuse and little dude is strong. He was able to pinpoint all my pain areas and proceeded to roll, press, stretch and kneed it to death. The more squirming I did and wincing from pain, the harder he went. I wanted to stop showing my pain just so he would stop sometimes. But as the guy at Health Trail said, "No pain, No gain". The timer went off after and hour and he continued working my back for another 5 minutes. I really appreciated it, as he knew I was in need of this session. 1 hour was $50, and I tipped $20. He really earned every dollar. Im sore from the bruising but my back pains are relieved right now. I'm considering buying the certificate. 10 sessions for $500 upfront and comes with 3 free massages. This seems really worth it in my opinion. I'm definitely coming back again.

First impression was getting offered water and snacks. 100% hooked. I just felt so well treated by this lovely gentleman. So much respect and humility in trying to make sure you get the treatment that you need by all the masseuse, who may or may not speak well English. They are some very strong ladies. You just tell him what you need. NYC granted us a baby and luckily Lavender was able to take care of me during ALL my pregnancy. I'm a full time nurse and I could have not made it, nor my husband, those 9 months without them. Now I am continuing with my postpartum massages. Not sure who needs them more dad or me. I have 3 herniated disks and one bulging disk. I swim, run, and do MMA. My back gets worn out in time and this is the place I come to feel rejuvenated. I have been coming here for about two years I have only experienced two bad massages, but that's when I was trying out different masseuses. I feel like this place is tailored for true deep tissue massages. Before coming here I have been to other locations where their deep tissue massages were extremely light compared to this location. So I would say about 70% of the masseuses here are heavy handed - which is perfect for me because of how tight my back gets. Now you can definitely find a light massage here but it's a roll of the dice in that respect. The only thing I can see that can be annoying is the language barrier. Don't come to this location with complicated requests because you will get frustrated. Point and mimic is the key. Use small english words and you can express your needs. I have a regular masseuse which already knows exactly what to do, so I leave feeling amazing!!

The two massage therapists came in and asked us if we wanted medium or strong pressure and we both said medium. I guess in this instance medium is subjective because it definitely felt stronger than what we both wanted and yes, we told them it was too much pressure. The MT massaging me, was seemingly fixated on my left shoulder pulverized it to the point that it is still sore and uncomfortable as I type this. My partner stated that his MT never even had him turn over and kept them face down the entire massage. When we were done, we managed to get dressed, make it to the front, and pay for that torture session. They offered us a cup of water. No thank you. We paid, tipped the MT's and left. We won't be back.
