a half eaten sandwich on a plate
Amy C.

Craving for some donuts? Come support small businesses. This donut shop has a lot of different kinds of donuts if you come early. The donuts and their sandwiches are good and very affordable. They have donuts, bagels, sandwiches, and different kind of drinks. I got different kind of donuts, croissant, and a sandwich. I will totally come back again. Right now because of COVID, you can't sit inside. However, the service is good. You just order and to-go it. There was no line when I came, and there are plenty of parking outside. The shop is close to the hot dog place.

Needed to find a new donut space since Manley's closed in Willow Glen. This place is definitely ok, over priced and not many options with cream in the middle.

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2019 Fresh Donuts is located on Pearl Avenue in San Jose, California. They have a huge selection of donuts- cinnamon crumb, glazed raised, twist, blueberry, crullers, filled donuts of the custard or jam variety, old fashioned. They also serve Boyd's Coffee. If you want something other than sweet they have breakfast croissant sandwiches. Something must have changed in this family owned business because as of late the donuts and the custard filled ones taste super sweet and not in a good way. Maybe they are having an off day? I wonder if they have changed ownership? Due to the fact the donuts haven't been the best as of late, I won't be rushing back with my family. This used to be a good spot for donuts. Hopefully, the mishaps are just temporary. Noelle's Notes Friendly Customer Service

This is a tiny little hole in the wall place, but they have good tasting donuts! Their donuts are fresh and the filled ones are loaded with custard/cherry, so every bite tastes delicious.

Loooove the prices. Always get the cream filled donuts, they run out of them so fast though. Get there super early if you can.

Ok I do like the bagels here but I might not come back for a while…read more. We came on a Saturday around 10:30am and there was a longgg line outside. We waited about 25-30min. The shop is quite small inside with no tables so it's to-go only. We got: - Ube Almond (5/5): this was my personal favorite but the almond flavor is strong so if you don't like almond you may want to skip this - Cali Roll (5/5): Really good! However if I had to choose between this and a california sushi roll, I would probably just go for sushi tbh haha - Miso Scallion (4/5): Their seasonal AAPI month flavor. I couldn't really taste the miso scallion. It just tasted like cream cheese to me. But my husband really liked this one! Also, I'd like to note that we happened to get their last Ube Almond of the day (I felt bad hearing them tell the party after us it was sold out now). So I would recommend arriving earlier than we did. Overall, while the bagels did taste good, they were all VERY oily. Like oil literally drips out as you squeeze the bagel. So they're quite heavy to eat in the morning and not something I would get often.

While waiting we joked that the bagels must be hella messy if there's only wet wipes on the counter, no normal napkins. We had no idea how right we were. Very greasy bagels (to be expected, if they're dipped in butter). I make fun of my boyfriend for sometimes using a fork and knife with pizza -- this is a fork-knife bagel. Pork floss was delish, tons of butter and garlic flavor, soft and slightly sweet bagel, good mix of textures. The corn was a surprise...flavor wise it works, but it falls out all over the place. Fork definitely recommended. Bf's garlic Asiago was just as greasy, more garlicky, and I didn't think it was any better than a typical cheesy garlic bread. I would skip that one. It was good, don't get me wrong, it just didn't seem special or worthwhile. These bagels seem more gimmicky than anything. Good, but overpriced. Probably won't return.

If you're in downtown San Jose or reporting to jury duty at the courthouse, City Bagels is worth it. Excellent customer service too. Ladies working here are awesome, quick and efficient. There's a lot of city flyers/ads too. Plain croissant $3.25, Single cup hot latte $4.50, and my mushroom egg cheese on jalapenos bagel $7.99 was perfect. Very satisfying foods. Everything I had was delicious and generous in portions. It all tasted great! Price was good for the value. Afterwards, I purchased to go: Hot dog bagel $5.00, asiago cheese bagel $2.50, jalapenos cheese pesto bagel $2.99, ham & cheese croissant $5.00, and old fashioned sugary donut plus chocolate donut $2.25 each. Loved everything. The size of each piece was huge! Grab your own paper bags at the top counter or utensils at the counter next to trash bin. For a donut/sandwich stop, it won't disappoint at all. Space is good for dine-in/meetup. They also sell plenty of smoothies and boba drinks too. All looks tempting, especially in the $5.99 range. Convenient and very good. I really liked my first visit here. Downtown San Jose has great foods. I'll be back for more.

It's not my preferred bagel spot but when I'm in the shopping center for other business and the bagel craving strikes, I'll pop in. I typically get an everything bagel with cream cheese from this shop. The bagels always taste good but I've found that their cream cheese isn't as great as it used to be. Perhaps they changed vendors. They always toast the bagels nicely, which I appreciate. They are generous with the cream cheese which leads to a messy eating experience. You'Ll want to make sure to have several napkins. They offer a large variety of bagel flavors and there's something for every craving here. I would love if they could improve the jalapeño cheddar bagel. They put such a small amount of cheese and jalapeños to the point that I wonder why they bother. Jalapeño and cheese bagels are my preference and it seems so few places can get them right these days. Service is prompt and the turn around time from order to receipt is quick. Order at the register and pick it up at another counter when they're call your number. It's typically busy here but despite that I never wait too long. After my half-year in the Bay Area, I frequently find myself craving a good NYC-style bagel, and, while Boichik Bagels hasn't _quite_ cracked the code, they've gotten pretty darn close. Their bagels are delightfully dense and slightly chewy, with a great snap from the crust. They're a little bit heavier than my average NYC bagel, but they've definitely mastered the NYC-style ginormous schmear of cream cheese and/or loaded breakfast sandwich. I've enjoyed their bagels in both sandwich form (huge fan of the whitefish salad with cucumbers and tomatoes for a more protein-rich / substantive meal) and with just a generous helping of cream cheese (of which they have quite a few flavors, including several vegan options). They don't have a _ton_ of bagel flavors, but they do have all the classics. Boichik also has a surprising love for pumpernickel; while the classic pumpernickel is delicious, I'm a huge fan of their pumpernickel caraway salt for a bit of extra herb flavor and savoriness. The staff is friendly and efficient. While there isn't any seating inside, there's a smattering of tables outside or you can always snag a seat elsewhere in Town & Country.
