Nice bagel breakfast stop located in downtown san jose. We got the sausage egg cheese bagel and added bacon and avocado. It was really good and we got it on a jalaepno bagel. It is a solid spot for a bagel sandwich.
The bagels were fresh, soft and thin which I really liked! Jalepeno cheddar bagel with sun dried tomato 5/5 Sausage egg and cheese breakfast bag 4.5/5 Great for a quick bite. Will be back!
I'm loving this place already. It's quite spacious inside compared to what I had imagined when just looking at the tiny storefront from the outside. If you're in downtown San Jose or reporting to jury duty at the courthouse, City Bagels is worth it. Excellent customer service too. Ladies working here are awesome, quick and efficient. There's a lot of city flyers/ads too. Plain croissant $3.25, Single cup hot latte $4.50, and my mushroom egg cheese on jalapenos bagel $7.99 was perfect. Very satisfying foods. Everything I had was delicious and generous in portions. It all tasted great! Price was good for the value. Afterwards, I purchased to go: Hot dog bagel $5.00, asiago cheese bagel $2.50, jalapenos cheese pesto bagel $2.99, ham & cheese croissant $5.00, and old fashioned sugary donut plus chocolate donut $2.25 each. Loved everything. The size of each piece was huge! Grab your own paper bags at the top counter or utensils at the counter next to trash bin. For a donut/sandwich stop, it won't disappoint at all. Space is good for dine-in/meetup. They also sell plenty of smoothies and boba drinks too. All looks tempting, especially in the $5.99 range. Convenient and very good. I really liked my first visit here. Downtown San Jose has great foods. I'll be back for more.
In and out in under 5 minutes this morning! The staff was super kind, greeted me as soon as I walked in, and got my order out quickly. The bagel itself was delicious. I had a bacon, egg, and cheese with jalapeño cream cheese, plus a medium bottled water, and a bag of popcorn. Total came to $17. Plenty of seating available if you want to dine in, which is a nice option. Overall, tasty food, fast service, and a welcoming atmosphere!

We went for the star of the show: the bagels. We ordered a turkey bagel sandwich. The bagel was fresh, the turkey portion was generous, and overall, it was an outstanding sandwich. We also grabbed a small order of donut holes, and they were just as good. TL;DR: Great local bagel and donut shop--fresh food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. So was traveling to San Jose for work and was jetlagged from a 2 week vacation in Asia Pac. I flew right in to San Jose coming off my vacation and was clearly jetlagged at 3 AM in the morning on Monday. After a quick search, i was able to find that City Bagels showed up as an option and it showed a 5:30 AM. The place was not a far walk from the hotel but i was worried that the time would be a bit later than 5:30 as it felt early. I waited till 5:50 AM or so and was sure glad i did as i think these folks have updated their hours to be open at 6 AM now vs 5:30 so be aware yelpers! The folks running the joint were SUPER friendly and i really appreciated the high energy and friendliness they brought. The offerings are pretty expensive with bagels, sandos, donuts, and then even other pastry type items im used to seeing at asian bakeries. I ended up ordering the SEC on a croissant which was a sizeable sandwich which was a plus. The Sausage lacked a bit of flavor for my personal like so would have liked hot sauce. Regardless, i appreciate such an early spot being open in downtown SJC and the level of service they brought to the experience. Loved the broad selection of items.

Fortunately, I looked up at just the right moment. What I found was a quiet, unassuming shop in downtown San Jose serving one of the best bagels I've had in a long time. My cream cheese and poppyseed bagel was fresh, hot, and full of flavor--crispy outside, soft and warm inside, exactly how a bagel should be. The coffee was just as impressive: hot, smooth, and satisfying without trying too hard. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable, with a kind of easy, unhurried energy that's hard to find these days. It feels like a family-owned business--and in all the best ways. Friendly, attentive, and focused on quality over flash. City Bagels was a happy accident I'll be repeating on purpose next time I'm in town. Skip the chain. Go here instead.
I came here for breakfast on a weekday with my sister. We each ordered a Lox Bagel Sandwich and a Vietnamese Coffee. We also ordered a dozen donut holes to share. Tell me why my total was $48?!?! I won't be retuning as when you pay with card, the lady ringing you up literally stares at you when the tip screen pops up.. This is a grab-and-go bagel shop not a sit down restaurant. The Vietnamese coffee wasn't strong enough and didn't taste like Vietnamese coffee at all. The donut holes were terrible - extremely dry. The Lox Bagel was fine. They added lettuce which I thought was strange as that doesn't usually pair with Lox. There is street parking right in front of the storefront.

I thought that the service was good and the staff was friendly. The bagels were made pretty fast. The interior is more on the classic older side. They have a variety of donuts, pastries and sandwiches. For drinks, they have coffees, teas and even boba. The lox bagel sandwich was solid, but it could have had more lox. The prices were reasonable. The bagel was hot and fresh. I would come back if I was in area and in the mood for bagels. read more
I always get the bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel but I always switch up the bagels depending how I feel. I always also get a different drink. I love the guys that work here. They are so wonderful. They'll open up on a holiday for the community. read more

I walked in to order and was not acknowledged at all I stood there about 5 mins waiting to order but no one helped me as a person of color this was definitely discrimination everyone who walked in after me was immediately helped o will not visit here again also I noticed the workers do not change their gloves when handling food and money experience was zero stars read more

This place was soooo yummy. We ordered 2 bagel sandwiches and a third w just garlic cream cheese. The garlic cream cheese was definitely the star. Staff is super friendly- we got created as soon as we walked in and the bagels were ready quickly. The place was super casual. read more

City Bagels is a sort of hole-in-the-wall, hidden gem for fast, cheap food. While I personally find the food on the bland side, it's easily zhuzhed with a bit of salt or hot sauce. The staff is always friendly, creating an atmosphere of familiarity that makes you feel like you've been stopping by for a bite forever. Service is prompt, and it never taken longer than a few minutes to receive my order. The coffee is great, the bagels are warm, you can buy cream cheese by the tub, it's never crazy busy, and the prices are fantastic. read more

This seems like a go to place for people! The people there were having good conversations with their regulars which I thought was very wholesome. The jalapeño cheese bagel was really good! It had a good amount of spice to it. Only thing is we thought we didn't get enough cream cheese. Maybe it's us being spoiled by House of Bagels, but if I come back here I'd request for more cream cheese. The cinnamon raisin bagel was all right but I would prefer it more toasted. Again it didn't have much cream cheese. It didn't really stand out too much though so I'll probably go for other bagels instead. read more

My friends and I were craving some bagels and decided to stop by the nearest bagel shop, we all absolutely loved our bagels. It wasn't too crowded, and the wait time to get our orders taken and wait for our food was fairly short. I got the turkey sandwich on a pesto bagel and it was sooooooo good 10/10, my friends got BLTs on a garlic bagel. We all collectively decided that this is our new local bagel shop, 10/10 would come again. Do keep in mind that since it's downtown, parking was a little tough to find. read more

This place deserves more recognition because their food and service was the best I've ever experienced at any food spot. The employees are very attentive and are always looking out for the customer's needs! The bagels are fresh, made right in front of you and VERY FAST! They were absolutely delicious and everyone should give it a try! I had the #2: Turkey Sandwich on a sesame bagel! 10/10 recommend! read more

Thank you to the wonderful business family at @City Bagels for your continued hospitality and always delivering on my impromptu large phone orders. The staff atCity Bagels staff care deeply about their customers and it is shown in the value of the service they provide. The amount of trust they have is unheard of. For example, in my last-minute order, they brewed fresh coffee and allowed me to take the entire commercial coffee urn with a promise i would return with no hesitation. Was looking for a bagel spot to remind me of NY. This one is okay. I feel the pickles trying to replace the caper saltiness was okay but I just wasn't there. The micro greens were a nice touch for presentation. I wish my picture quality was better so it can represent what I'm trying to explain. The bagel itself, could be a bit more toasted in the inside. Give it a better crunch. The sandwich as a whole, I give it a 6/10. read more

Arrived at location around 11 am. Plenty of outside meter parking. Place was pretty empty and they have indoor dinning. Location looks small from outside but they have about 6 tables to eat inside. After carefully viewing the menu we ordered - 2 #17: which is egg, bacon, sausage and cheese (one croissant, one bagel) - 4 bagels to go (marinara, cheese jalapeno, jalapeno, plain - 2 drinks one mocha and a chai lattee Rating: - bagel sando was missing its bacon 1/5 (egg smell) -croissant sando was burnt 1/5 (eggy smell no seasoning) - cold mocha 2/5 extremely sweet -chai latte 2/5 really sweet -4 other bagels havent tried them. But they are soft. -marinera bagel 5/5 - jalapeno bagel 5/5 Service; was mediocre. Lady that attended us was a bit loud and accelerated. She asked me for my order 3 times. So there i was repeating myself. Which i get you are busy. But maybe write it down. Also, a customer that went and picked up called out that lady and he said, "she was rude." Overall, i would come back to just pick up bagels. I wouldnt order coffee nor sandwiches. But plain bagels are good. read more

A nice little mom and pop store! Its a joke in the wall so you can definitely miss it if you aren't looking for it. The sell both donuts and bagels and they have homemade cream cheese you can buy for yourself. I recommend the garlic and the lox. The service was great and fast. In and out. I'll definitely come back when I'm in town. read more
There's not that many bagel spots in San Jose, which I would love to see more of, but City Bagels is definitely up there. I like how they're located in the heart of a busy downtown. They're a hole in the wall that can be easy to miss, but once you find them you'll quickly realize why they're that one necessary stop on everyone's daily commutes. So crazy how there's a dispensary located right next to it now (such a San Jose thing lol). I got the #12 which was a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and a plain cheese bagel. And baby, that sandwich was hella hot and made with love from the ancestors because the cheese was melting, dripping on my finger and everything. A solid, convenient breakfast spot if you're looking for something made fresh and quick out the door, or sit and just have a coffee and read the paper. They got a variety of drinks on the menu as well as boba! read more
