Came here with a friend per his recommendation. A solid donut shop, lots of varieties and decent coffee. We had a couple of the croissant egg sandwiches, which were delicious and the eggs were done to perfection, not hard, but not overly loose. Also, we split an apple fritter which was huge and so tasty. Half is certainly plenty for one person. Service was very friendly and the shop is clean with a decent amount of seating. Would certainly come here again without hesitation. read more

Extremely friendly. We got a chunky apple fritter closer to the end of the day and got some free doughnut holes. The fritter was crispy and very nice read more

Donuts are sooo yummy. I'm a simple glazed donut type of girl but I've gotten a box of a dozen variety from here before and my coworkers loved it. It wasn't too doughy and stayed fluffy throughout most of the day! I actually always have a very pleasant experience here as everyone is so nice. They're sweet just like their donuts! Hehe only advice I'd give is to come early or they can run out pretty early! read more

I ordered a mocha, but it tasted more like an overly sweet hot chocolate. I couldn't taste the coffee or milk at all. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend their drinks. On the positive side, the donut was really good. read more

Excellent Donuts! Fresh, light and very tasteful! They have a very large selection and all are very good.

I found this place on Yelp. There were mixed reviews about service but the donuts looked good and it's close to me. I ordered 18 donuts (variety) and the very sweet lady who might be the owner helped me super fast, she stacked them so nicely and they were a big hit at work. Donuts can really make someone's day. These were fresh, and fluffy and seemed bigger than average to me. I'm definitely coming back again soon! read more

So the donuts are great. But they sell out super fast. If you don't get there before 8am any day of the week you might be out of luck. I will also say that they have some of the best buttermilk bars I've ever had! read more

Whoa these doughnuts were so good! I love the cake doughnuts and the one I had was a little crispy on the outside and very soft on the inside, absolute perfection. Will be back here for sure! The woman working there was also very kind, can't say enough good things. read more

Craving for some donuts? Come support small businesses. This donut shop has a lot of different kinds of donuts if you come early. The donuts and their sandwiches are good and very affordable. They have donuts, bagels, sandwiches, and different kind of drinks. I got different kind of donuts, croissant, and a sandwich. I will totally come back again. Right now because of COVID, you can't sit inside. However, the service is good. You just order and to-go it. There was no line when I came, and there are plenty of parking outside. The shop is close to the hot dog place. read more

Excellent quality donuts, consistently fluffy and delicious. They include a couple donut holes for free when you buy a regular donut. They also have delicious, warm breakfast sandwiches! Also, they have the BEST apple fritters in the area, that actually taste like apple. Anyone else that tells you another donut shop has the best apple fritters is lying and do not trust them. read more

This is a tiny little hole in the wall place, but they have good tasting donuts! Their donuts are fresh and the filled ones are loaded with custard/cherry, so every bite tastes delicious. read more

the best little neighborhood donut shop! They're always consistent with what they make and the glazed old fashions are great.

Needed to find a new donut space since Manley's closed in Willow Glen. This place is definitely ok, over priced and not many options with cream in the middle. read more

How can you trust a doughnut shop that doesn't make jelly doughnuts. I went in there to buy a jelly doughnut, but there were none to buy. This wasn't the 1st ti.e this it happened. He could make and sell jelly doughnuts. read more

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2019 Fresh Donuts is located on Pearl Avenue in San Jose, California. They have a huge selection of donuts- cinnamon crumb, glazed raised, twist, blueberry, crullers, filled donuts of the custard or jam variety, old fashioned. They also serve Boyd's Coffee. If you want something other than sweet they have breakfast croissant sandwiches. Something must have changed in this family owned business because as of late the donuts and the custard filled ones taste super sweet and not in a good way. Maybe they are having an off day? I wonder if they have changed ownership? Due to the fact the donuts haven't been the best as of late, I won't be rushing back with my family. This used to be a good spot for donuts. Hopefully, the mishaps are just temporary. Noelle's Notes Friendly Customer Service read more

I work in a profession where it is traditional to bring donuts in the morning for many occasions Fresh donuts has quality options and they are open early. The bagel sandwiches and ice coffee are good too. I recommend trying them out out and supporting a local business read more

You guys are not open at 6:00am that's a lie. Need to update your hours or open at the time it says

I returned again today on my way to the car dealership for service on my car, so I could buy two dozen of the best doughnuts for the staff there, to show my appreciation as I have done for many years for their great service, parts and sales departments. I arrived around 7 am and was greeted by the lovely older woman I've seen on multiple occasions. She is always friendly and welcoming, and treats me with kindness and care. I purchased two dozen assorted doughnuts for the staff at the dealership which they always enjoy, and a couple of doughnuts for myself (the French swirl with vanilla icing, looks like a pinwheel shape), and a maple iced long doughnut which is delicious with or without cream filling. This is the only doughnut place I have ever frequented that always puts several glazed doughnut holes in each box or bag of doughnuts purchased. When I got home and opened the bag containing my two doughnuts, I was surprised and pleased there were three doughnut holes in there too. As I have done the past few years, once I discovered them, I also purchased an egg and bacon croissant sandwich. It is thick with real scrambled eggs formed into a thick piece, on top of perfectly cooked bacon cut into small pieces to fit inside the delicious buttery croissant, which is substantial! A slice of real cheddar cheese tops it all off. I have tried to make the same sandwich at home but it is never as good as this lady can make. I highly recommend you visit their store soon so you can have some of this melt in your mouth goodness. There is a wide variety of sandwiches you can order, but I always get this one. Please visit this store and continue to support small businesses - they are to be treasured and loved! read more

This place is such a cute hole in the wall! It's family owned, and they're all so nice. I've known the lady for years, and she's the sweetest. Although their donuts are good, the sandwiches are legit heaven sent. I always usually get the BLT on croissant (you have to try their croissants at least once), or their egg, bacon, and cheese on croissant. I usually don't get donuts because I'm not big on sweets, but when I do I usually get their donut holes. read more

Tasty donuts and friendly owners. Del helped out Gunderson's senior sunrise by coming in early to fill a last minute order of 6 dozen donuts for Friday morning. The donuts are good but the female owner is rude. I don't want a donut bad enough to be talked down to by this woman. The man is always very nice and polite. read more

I highly recommend this shop. Locally owned. Great customer service. Fresh product. Prices are good. Need I say more!? I've been going here on and off for years. Nestled in the shopping center on the corner of Branham and Pearl. read more

I guess I should have suspected something was off when, at 7:30 on a Sunday morning, the shop was empty. They had a decent selection and I opted for maple cruller and blueberry cake. Somehow, despite them only being open for 90 minutes, the donuts didn't seem fresh. The blueberry was dry and for some reason, the bottom of the donut was unglazed, hard, and crumbly. The cruller had a nice texture, but the maple flavor was really missing from the glaze. In addition they charge 35 cents for a card transaction. Not a fan, and honestly, just put a cash only sign on the door. Getting sucked into paying a service charge AFTER you've picked your donuts is suspect, in my opinion. read more

I've been in the neighborhood since I was born. These donuts are what I grew accustomed to and always loved eating on Saturday mornings. I'd compare all other donuts to the ones at Fresh Donuts, none could even come close as they have some of the best donuts in the Bay Area. The hole-in-the-wall location is great for keeping too many foodies away and over crowding the joint. I could not express my love for their flavor in the pastries they make. It's a bummer majority usually runs out in their huge, delicious selection by 10 AM. Overall this place deserves the business they get for their donuts have not changed in years, keeping with the times of the flavor and appealing to anyone who is anybody. They really need to look into changing the 70's back room speak-easy vibe they got going on. I would definitely recommend going here for some quick breakfast. read more

Fresh Donuts has been my family's go to Donut shop for at least 10 years. I recently asked the owner if she could help out with catering donuts for my wedding as a dessert option. She was more then accommodating. Me wedding was in the evening, so she had them make the 200+ donuts and 250+ donut holes for me before close so they would still be fresh. She let my customize how many of each kind I would be ordering and honestly made the whole process super easy. I would highly recommend Fresh Donuts for any occasion. Thank you! read more

After recently moving, I decided to reward my mile and a half stroll with some donuts for my family, and Fresh donuts was on my way home. The shop is pretty hidden behind weinerschinzel (yep I knew I wasn't going to spell that correctly!). The guy behind the counter was super friendly and patient as I had to think about what everyone would want. Okay so it turns out I hadn't completed the review. So now, during the time of covid, I have to say our family is even more grateful to have this establishment in our neighborhood. The family that runs the store has kept things feeling safe, comfortable, and consistently in stock with the delicious doughnuts we continue to come back for :) read more

Donuts are ok. Prices are a little on the high side. The old lady with the walker that helped us needs to work on her customer service skills. She looked mean and didn't even say hi. The selection left on a Sunday morning by 10:00 am was dismal. We ordered a dozen donuts. They are stingy also, we always get a few donut holes when we order a dozen from Manley donuts but NOT from this case. I give this place a "meh". Take note: AT the very least, greet your customers when they grace your little donut shop and say thank you. read more

Came by because it was listed as open til 4. It's only 2:45, all the signs are lit up advertising they are open, there's still a decent selection of donuts in the cases, but the place is locked up. If you're closing early, turn off al the lights advertising that you are open! read more

From my donut tour last summer where I tried donuts from all over San Jose and Los Gatos: Fresh Donuts was one of my favorite donuts. Contrary to popular belief not every donut is the same. Their donut is the perfect combination of fluffiness, doughiness, texture and sweetness. Krispy Kreme is good, but it's not doughy enough for me and too sweet. Fresh Donut is what a good donut should taste like: satisfying which limits you to 1, consistent and they always give you extra donut holes! Generosity these days is rare and the family that owns this place is very generous and usually adds some extra donut holes to my order. I've tried their croissants and bagels, but their donuts are king. I wish the coffee was a little better to stave off a Peet's run afterward, but it's decent enough for a donut shop if you only have time for one stop. Get the coconut donut, it's awesome! read more

Fresh Donuts - 3 dozen donuts, but the coconut donut is king. - Donuts Near Me - San Jose, California

Let me start by saying go somewhere else!! There donut selection is slim Pickens and not fresh! Its also very hot and stuffy inside. Place looks extremely dirty! I tried to order half a dozen donuts along with the dozen donut holes I bought and the (rude lady-owner) proceeded to put my donuts in a bag=smushed mess. I asked for a box and very rudly with eye roll says "that will be a additional 50cents. I extremely dislike this place and will not ever return here!! The lady needs a business course or some happy pills. I don't understand the positive reviews I see on here but perhaps these people have not been anywhere else or don't care about cleanliness or fresh donuts! read more

Local community mom and pop shop so I support it hands down. The donuts are good. I recently have tried their avocado sandwich and it was awesome! I loved it. Fresh ingredients and the croissant too. She took a bit making the sandwich so I felt the love she put into it. Something so simple but beautiful with its vibrant veggie colors. I would recommend it for that. The only reason I knock 2 is because the service is hit or miss. read more

Cute little mom n' pop shop. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I have always loved their donuts. No glitz and glamor for those insta peeps but such a great donut shop nonetheless. Proud to support them! Also bring cash unless you don't mind paying for the card fee (.50?) read more

This is your typical, run-of-the-mill doughnut shop that is just doing a service to its community: just make doughnuts. They're devoid of care, artistry, and creativity. And taste. Simply put: if you crave carbs and/or donuts, come here. read more

The shelves were empty and all they had left was some croissants. They should close their door if they hardly have anything left to sell. Anyway, I ordered a croissant avocado sandwich. I moved here two years ago and love the croissant sandwich. They are super nice. They recognize me in the morning when I stop. Went in the other day and got a sandwich and donuts for our secretaries. I was in my classroom and felt egg shell in my mouth. I took out the bite and threw it away and tried to eat the rest of the sandwich. Shell throughout the entire half. I threw it away and unwrapped the other half and found shell all in it. It was not busy when I got there and the egg seemed a little watery. I can understand a little shell but there was a lot of shell. I was saddened and still hungry because I wanted it to be great. read more

Selma (if I'm saying her name correct!) is very rude and unprofessional. I asked if the bagels were fresh because I get them very often and they don't taste the freshest. The food here is amazing!! Everything tastes so fresh and made with care. I personally love the bacon egg croissant sandwich. Only had two bagels available... Donuts didn't look fresh... The place looks dirty and outdated. Prices have been removed/covered. Only one flavor of blended frappuccino available even tho signs are posted stating otherwise.. Got a tuna salad sandwich and they had to make sure they had it before I could buy it. I guess this is a mom and pop shop for the neighborhood people because it was pretty busy. I'm not sure why they favor it so much when there is a small selection of donuts.. 3 stars because the items I bought tasted good. I almost lost my appetite when I saw the owners cough medicine sitting behind the register... read more
