I had family in town, and we headed down to Homer for the weekend to go halibut fishing. I love the city of Homer, and think it has some of the best restaurants in the state. Fresh Catch Cafe certainly fit that bill. We were starving after a kayaking excursion, and headed over to the cafe for lunch. The location was very cozy with some great views of the bay. It was clean, and comfortable with a nice wood burning stove to add that Alaskan touch. There was also art from local artist decorating the walls. There was a nice craft beer and wine selection for both lunch & dinner. They also serve different menus depending on if you are dining for lunch or dinner. Service was excellent--extremely friendly & efficient. Since we were there for lunch we opted out of appetizers. We each ordered a different seafood fish. I got the crab boudin ball sandwich, my brother ordered the smoked salmon sandwich, and our family friend ordered the BBQ fish sandwich. We all really enjoyed our lunch, and were extremely full after our meal. We all loved the steak fries--they were seriously some of the best fries we've ever had. I really enjoyed my crab boudin ball sandwich, but did not think it needed to be served as a sandwich; the bread was just too much. The sambel honey mustard it was served with was a perfect accompaniment just the right amount of spicy sweet. My dining mates enjoyed the flavors of their sandwiches, and the smoked salmon sandwich came with a really nice side salad though I was feeling gluttonous and was happy my choice came with the fries. The next time I am in Homer I will be back for another delicious lunch! Also would be interested in checking them out for dinner, but there are so many restaurants that I love in Homer it will be hard to choose! read more

Simply great service and food. Amazing views. They were out of steamer clams so I started out a tad disappointed but the food made up for it. The fettuccini with abundant chunks of salmon, halibut, scallops, and shrimp and the chile ginger cream sauce is fabulous. The halibut over risotto was a big portion. The risotto could have been cooked a little more so it wouldn't be as runny but it was still delicious with large pieces of king crab. We were too full to try dessert. Last year I wasn't too impressed with the entree I had--grilled rockfish, as I found the seasoning a bit elusive. This year I had the Kodiak scallops in a soubise with vegetables and lentils and they were wonderful. Manoman, what a treat. While heading towards the end of the spit in Homer, second boardwalk strip on the right, I found a little joint called Fresh Catch Café. I looked them up on Yelp and saw good marks. I gave them a call and was surprised to find that they had a dinner reservation available. I ordered Seafood dip and seafood curry. It was wonderful. The seafood dip is incredibly rich, cheesy, and satisfying on the tongue. The curry was a finally crafted dish that was seasoned perfectly. It was spicy enough to nibble at my tongue just a little bit but not really burn. The portions were more than generous and the service is pretty darn good. Nice clean place with an incredible view of Resurrection Bay. Looking forward to returning. read more

We reached here after a busy day in the city, we loved the vaccine policy as it ensures that we can dine in a safe environment. The specials of the day were amazing. We had the lamb tikka masala and teriyaki salmon. It was so delicious. The homemade naan with the lamb melted in the mouth. Planned to come in on our wedding day, when we arrived at six we were told no longer taking reservations. We then asked for a reservation the following day. We called about half an hour prior asking if we could come in earlier was told by the host we were booked solid. Our reservation was set for 6:40 we arrived early told them our names as the host again looked confused on our three table party. She spoke and said just a few minutes, as we sat and waiting we had two different parties of two and three walk in no reservation sat in front of us. I asked her why she sat them in front of us, she said they are local.... We finally called it at 7:15 This was supposed be our wedding dinner and I'm beyond dissatisfaction. This is our third time eating here. Each time the food has been delicious. The chef does an amazing job of celebrating local specialties with unique combinations. My husband loved their Korean Barbque Duck wings. They also serve local wine and beer. The strawberry rhubarb wine is my favorite. An added bonus is the spectacular view. We read some of the reviews for this place and our AirBnB host recommended to us for the best fresh seafood, but I don't know, I wasn't particularly impressed with it. It definitely wasn't bad, but I didn't feel like it was worth the price they charge. The inside is very tiny like most of the other restaurants and shops in Homer, so I recommend making reservations. I ordered the seafood pasta and my husband had their fish and chips. The fish was too breaded in my opinion, but was very juicy. I also LOVED their tartar sauce. It was more pickle/dill based and so good. My husband said he liked it a lot though. I liked my seafood pasta and it came with a fair amount of scallops, halibut, and salmon, but I don't know, I didn't love it. I feel like it was missing more garlic or something. Or maybe the fishy salmon threw it off for me. I would give this place another shot when we come back to visit, but maybe order something different. read more

What an incredible find in Homer, Alaska. First of all, my family and I appreciated the fact that they required proof of Covid vaccination to dine at the restaurant. We feel that more restaurants should follow their footsteps! Secondly, the food was incredible! We had halibut with crab risotto and red curry seafood. Some have criticized this place for requiring proof of a Covid 19 vaccination. We applaud them for their willingness to sacrifice som business for the safety of their customers and staff. Beyond that, the dining room was comfortable, well spaced and much less noisy than some other places. All the food on the menu is creatively prepared by a chef that really exercises care to create dishes you would not likely prepare at home. I had the spicy udon bowl with a big slab of salmon on top. If you do not like spicy food, don't order this. My wife had the Halibut fillet on top of some type of exotic rice. Service was great but food was somewhat slow to arrive. Very good loaf of fresh sourdough bread fill the wait. We had experienced this in two other places in Homer over Memorial Day weekend. I don't think any of the restaurants were prepared for the onslaught of people that showed up this year. read more

It was packed when I walked in. A good sign! Only place to sit was at the bar. I didn't want to spend an arm and leg, but if you are in Homer, you must eat seafood. I love me some cheese, and since I was sitting by myself in the corner, I ordered the fondue. What is better than a warm bowl of cheese? Add some fresh crab of course! The staff was incredible. Refilling my glass of wine while I devoured the delectable fondue. When I finally looked up from my head in the bowl, the whole bar had been filled around me. What a wonder place to eat, we went at 12:49 PM and had no problems getting a seat. This is not a huge restaurant so if you go at dinner time you may have to wait, but the food is worth it. We order oysters and the halibate for lunch, the oysters were not huge but they were meaty which is the way I like them, the halibate was nice and flakey which was outstanding.
