It was packed when I walked in. A good sign! Only place to sit was at the bar. I didn't want to spend an arm and leg, but if you are in Homer, you must eat seafood. I love me some cheese, and since I was sitting by myself in the corner, I ordered the fondue. What is better than a warm bowl of cheese? Add some fresh crab of course! The staff was incredible. Refilling my glass of wine while I devoured the delectable fondue. When I finally looked up from my head in the bowl, the whole bar had been filled around me. Warning: the food is so good, all your other senses go into shutdown mode. You may find yourself in the awkward situation where sight and sound come back into focus and you realize 3 separate people have tried to interact with you within the last 5 minutes. read more

Fresh Catch Cafe - Crab Fondue - Seafood Near Me - Homer, Alaska

We have eaten here several times this week and the food is phenomenal. The rockfish special was one of the very best fish dishes I have ever had. I don't often post reviews but this restaurant is a top five for me in the world. Literally everything we have had is fantastic. read more

I came here on a Friday night with my husband, so we called ahead in order to minimize our wait time. They offered reservations as early as an hour from when I called, or they could get us on the list for the front room immediately, so we opted for that option. My husband and I ended up sharing the Alaskan halibut and crab risotto, which was the perfect amount of food for the two of us since we wanted to stop for dessert as well. Our waitress was attentive and helpful, and prices weren't bad. I would come back here again. read more

When in Homer you must eat at this restaurant. Absolutely hands down the best one in the area. The Buttermilk Halibut sandwich was the bomb. Great service and food. read more

This was probably one of my favorite restaurants in Alaska. We came for a early dinner and ordered the seafood linguini, lobster Mac and cheese, seafood curry and halibut fish and chips. Everything was SUPER fresh and portions were pretty big , both a pleasant surprise. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It's located right on the spit and can't be missed. read more

What a wonder place to eat, we went at 12:49 PM and had no problems getting a seat. This is not a huge restaurant so if you go at dinner time you may have to wait, but the food is worth it. We order oysters and the halibate for lunch, the oysters were not huge but they were meaty which is the way I like them, the halibate was nice and flakey which was outstanding. Beth our server made sure all of our needs were taken care of. Next time were in Homer, we will stop again for lunch read more

Covid Hysteria. We wanted to eat here, and are fully vaccinated, but we were greeted by a sign requiring masks upon entry and proof of vaccination to be seated. This would have included our 9 year old daughter, who can't possibly get vaccinated. I'm sure the food is good, but this is America, and I don't expect to see this type of discrimination in Homer, AK of all places. Not worth the fuss. There a other good places to eat without the hysteria attached to them. read more

Racism? Perhaps...in a sea of white people, we were the only brown table. Our order was the only one "misplaced", no food brought out to us for an hour and a half. Meanwhile, everyone else got their orders. When we brought it up, we were told "oh our mistake" and we sat here watching more people get their food while we waited and waited. We are here for one night, celebrating our daughter's birthday, and yes we should have just walked out. Absolutely unacceptable service, and nothing but a "I'm sorry" which really wasn't even sincere as he's rolling his eyes at us. 1 star only because I can't give 0. Oh and the icing on the cake was the owner coming out and saying he would call the cops and proceeded to take pics of us including minor children without permission. Horrible people all around. Racism is alive America and possibly pedophilia also. Beware of who you're supporting. read more

A total tourist trap. The most tasteless food we ate in the 3 weeks of our alaska trip. No service and worst of the two of us we paid $100 for the dinner. Should have get the taco from a food truck so where. read more

Best meal we had in Alaska. Best crab legs we've had everthis is the best restaurant in town. Try it out!

All in all, not worth the price. It's fresh caught fish which is amazing, but that's all you're paying for. I got the fish and chips and there was ZERO seasoning on the fish. Halibut isn't the most flavorful fish and I believe it needs some sort of seasoning not just panko breading, that just doesn't cut it. My partner got the bison burger. It was plain. The cheese was some sort of nacho cheese. It was too thick for the burger and just didn't fit right, not a good combination. The price we paid I expected much better tasting food. The portions were large but I think the meals should be priced closer to the $15-$18 range, instead of the $20-$30 range they are currently priced at. read more

VACCINATION PROOF REQUIRED. Unfortunately for us, not everyone in my family remembered to bring their vaccination cards or digital copies of them--who knew we would have to "show our papers" just to eat at this restaurant. Asking for my my vaccination record is an invasion of my health records. read more

Good food but to be turned away if your unvaccinated is ridiculous. If the vaccine works why are we scared? And if It doesn't why are we getting it? I will eat elsewhere from now on!! read more

Too bad I didn't get a chance to rate you actually based on your food & ambiance &s service , but only on customer service ah the door. Unfortunate for you all. Thankfully so many more places to dine on the spit! read more

Food was great - I had the halibut fish & chips and they were amazing! Pricey, like everything in AK, but well worth it!

We were happily surprised to find this gem! All the other restaurants were packed with 1 hour waits by the water, cross the street and there was this wonderful place with really great seafood options that didn't break our bank! 4 adults and 2 cranky small children ate for under $80 which is seriously cheap for anything on Homer Spit! Dave was our server and he gave us daily specials that rotate daily, great tips on lunch seafood options and the food was wonderful! I ordered the fish tacos, it was a mix of halibut and cod and came with a salad and I got their house made vinaigrette. It was really good! My 1 year old daughter helped me eat the fish tacos! She loved them! They had some great local beers on tap as well! This place is large group friendly as well as kid friendly without the tourist trap notions which was a nice change! I highly recommend this place! read more

Loved the curry bowl with halibut and salmon and that they offer non-seafood for people like my husband. I could eat there and French with the yummy specials changing too. Great view, wonderful genuinely friendly service! read more

This restaurant is a little hidden jewel on the Homer spit. It is immaculate inside with a very unique ambience as you look outside the windows and see the ocean right there. They also require proof of vaccination before you can eat there. I love it. You can feel safe inside knowing that everybody has at least been vaccinated. The waiters and waitresses also wear masks. The food is excellent. read more

Fresh Catch Cafe - My beautiful view. - Seafood Near Me - Homer, Alaska

I loved the burger - thick and flavorful. I dipped it in the jalapeño mango lime salad dressing because I couldn't get enough of it from my salad. Our server was great and thoughtful in writing a "Happy Birthday from all of Alaska" note to give my husband with the carrot cake (so good) that he ordered. He loved the Berring Strait crab leg. Friendly service, nice view, and wine by the glass options. read more

Had a great lunch here. Split the halibut sandwich which was the perfect amount to share for two. Decent service.

Super cute ambiance with great views. Sadly the oysters were the worst oysters I've ever had. They had ice chunks on top still, and didn't come with any sauce or lemons. That being said the bison burger and wagyu steak were hands down amazing. Great location. Would come back for either entrees. read more

While the service was atrocious, the food at Fresh Catch lived up to the hype. The fish was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The ingredients were fresh and each dish was very balanced with flavor. The portions were great but the prices were high (as to be expected for a tourist destination in the middle of the season). The view was really nice as well. Small intimate setting but the service was really poor (not sure if they only are kind to locals?). If you can overlook the bad service & high prices and just want a great dinner, stop here... read more

The food here is outstanding. I recently had their Korean bbq pork and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned and beautifully presented. It is served with a side of beans, which I was not super excited about.... until I actually tasted them. I don't know what they did to those beans but they were so incredibly flavorful and delicious. My niece ordered the mussels and I couldn't believe the amount they brought out, and she ate every least one. My wife had the seafood fettuccine and couldn't finish it, nor would she give up a single shrimp to her curious husband because they were too damn good to share. In short, everything our party of five had was delicious, and well presented, and the service was excellent. However, there is a price to pay, in dollars. At least half the items on the dinner menu are thirty five dollars or more. I know fresh seafood isn't cheap, even in Alaska, but I felt like we were paying tourist prices. Be sure to make reservations if coming for dinner in summer, this place gets packed. read more

Had the seared halibut over king crab risotto and my boyfriend had the fettuccine with scallops, shrimp, salmon and halibut. Does it get much better? The answer is yes, when you snag the table that faces the ocean and order a bottle of wine from their great wine list. I didn't really want to review fresh catch because I loved that it wasn't swarmed with tourists, but here we are. Best place to have dinner on the spit. Oh and our server, didn't catch his name, was awesome too. read more

Stopped in for some lunch while in Homer. Now, Homer is not exactly known for their superb food. I didn't set my expectations too high when going in. In fact, I saw reviews saying "this is good, for Homer". That seemed relatively telling. I ordered the halibut fish tacos. Bland. The tortilla looked like a mission tortilla that you can buy at the grocery store. Really plain, nothing special about these tacos at all. Worse part? They were $16. Way overpriced for the quality your getting. The tacos had some cabbage on them and the halibut tasted barely seasoned. It didn't have any sauce to accompany it so it was also pretty dry. I was severely disappointed. My boyfriend had the lamb burger. I will say the lamb meat was very juicy and tender but it tasted a bit odd topped with a Chimichurri sauce. Just didn't compliment the other flavors at all. It seemed like it should have a yogurt sauce or mint instead. Overall, wouldn't recommend this place. Stingy on portions, lacking flavor, and overpriced. read more

Fresh Catch Cafe - Lunch menu - Seafood Near Me - Homer, Alaska

I stopped by here on Friday night with my wife and her parents for dinner. We had all just just gotten done with a day of water activities (kayaking for the ladies and fishing for the men) and we're looking for a place to eat on Homer spit whenever we noticed this place. When walking into Fresh Catch Cafe the first thing that you see is the bar and a small door to the dining room. Once you make it into the dining room you have a nice view out onto the water and the walls are decorated with some nice paintings that are for sale by local artists. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the red curry bowl. It consisted of halibut, salmon, vegetables and rice all in a red curry sauce. Whenever I ordered it our server asked me how spicy I would like it and I told her as hot as they could make it. It came out as a single bowl and the curry sauce was piping hot which made the eating of it slow. However that just prolonged my enjoyment of the meal because the red curry sauce was pretty fantastic. They had developed a ton of flavor to it and the spice of it was good enough that I was happy (that rarely happens) and yet the burn of the curry didn't last for a long time. Both of the fishes in the curry were cooked nicely too and I loved eating the vegetables in the sauce. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought that the curry bowl was something a little bit different than what I had seen but that Fresh Catch Cafe executed extremely well. read more

We were very happy with 2 orders of fish and chips. The fish was fried perfectly and the tarter sauce was very good. The fries were good, since I don't like a lot of salt. The Caesar Salad was above average, with good garlic and anchovy. The seafood dip was very good, but we thought a better vehicle like pita chips might elevate the dish. The bison chili was a hit with cornbread and taquitos as a side. A little pricey, but worth the money. Thank you!! Came here twice!! Delicious twice!! read more

Amazing restaurant for more than one reason! First off, they require all dine in patrons to be fully vaccinated (Covid) and show proof of vaccination. What an great concept! They are keeping their customers and their staff safe during these crazy/uncertain times. I love them for being such a thoughtful business! Secondly, the food is just incredible! The fish couldn't get any fresher!! The name says it all... Fresh Catch Cafe. I had the red curry with shrimp, halibut and salmon and the food was beyond delish! Hats off to the chef! Last but not least, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food/drinks. I would highly recommend that you make reservations to dine at this restaurant- if you're vaccinated and can show proof of vaccination. read more

What a great find on the Homer Spit. While Covid is devastating the limited number of restaurants in the Homer area, this one is talking things seriously and it is paying off. Prior to entering, you must show proof of having been vaccinated in order to dine here. This was a first, and somewhat appreciated requirement. The food was delicious. Everything was great. The service was quite good. It is not the cheapest place in Homer by far so be prepared to spend some money but it is well worth it. Thanks, Fresh Catch. Keep up the great work. read more

This restaurant is by far the best restaurant we were able to experience on the spit. During a spike in Covid, they required masks and proof of vaccination cards. This was incredibly responsible and we appreciated the establishment that much more. Our waitress was top notch, professional and knew the menu inside and out. I ordered the halibut over crab risotto and it was the best dish I've had in over a year. Bravo!!! read more

This cafe is easy to miss as it's a little further into the spit and away from the crowded restaurants that have crazy long wait times. Upon entering we were immediately seated. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We weren't very hungry so we decided to share the king crab fondue. It was very delicious and creamy. It kind of reminded me of a chowder. It was served with a french bread, I believe. We enjoyed his with drinks, as well as the beautiful view of the water. I find that this place was was a bit pricy but it was still a nice stop and service was wonderful. read more

I did extensive research before making a dinner reservation for our special night out in Homer. The experience did not disappoint! The host kindly held my reservation even though we were 20 mins late (I called to request this). Informal and lively dining area with views. Quality of food exceptional. Service very knowledgeable and friendly without being pretentious. She knew her wines and was perfectly attentive without being overbearing. We started with the crab cakes which blew us away. We also had the Risotto w/Halibut and the Clams w/kale & reindeer sausage. Will miss this special restaurant on the Spit! Don't miss it! read more

Hands down one of the BEST seafood restaurant's I've ever eaten at! No comparison! This is by far the best seafood I've ever eaten. I choose to take a flight down the evening from Soldotna and ate dinner here with some friends. Not only was the food tasty, homemade, seasoned well, on time, hot, fabulous; The decor and cafe was small and quaint, upon arrival it was almost difficult to get a seat in, but was the last ones to sit down as the tables were taken! This place is happening. I am sensitive to spicy food and our dear waitress Courtney was so attentive and nice to reaasure me if it was spicy or not. It was outside of my comfort zone but my friends ended up finishing it. The Fish and Chips. hmmm was is delicious, I've never tasted halibut so delicious before! I couldn't get enough of the homemade tartar sauce! (I really want the recipe) The Seafood pasta was to die for; after a long day adventuring I needed some carbs. I left completely satisfied and hungry for more. Homer Alaska. You did it for me! read more
