As someone who almost never gets manicures or pedicures, I was super grateful that Kim was able to squeeze my boyfriend and I last minute on a Friday evening. The current rate is $28 for a pedicure. As someone who works in a profession where it's very important to be on time, I low-key wished that she only squeezed one of us in instead of two people. We came in at 5:40 PM and while I had an entire hour to spare, I wish I was done in less than an hour. I didn't realize that helping me would make the nail tech late for her next client which I felt bad for. Massages also felt a little rushed. I made an appointment three days ago. I've never been here but the reviews were great so I wanted to try it out. I requested a delux pedi (gel) with paraffin wax and acrylic overlay-on my natural SHORT nails. My toe nails were cut so extremely short and crooked they hurt afterwards. I was stabbed underneath my toenail twice. It was very painful. The "scrub" on the pedi-exfoliating was nothing more than 5 seconds or so. Not worth it. The mask on my legs and massage were very nice. My nails already chipped 3 days after getting them done. I was cut on my cuticles twice. Overall, the ladies that did the service were so sweet and I appreciate their time. They were very kind. However, the work itself was not great. I paid $110 not including the tip I left. read more

Well I've gone here 4 times consecutively and the first time I was happy. They did what I wanted and charged me $55, not too bad, more expensive than my last spot but I thought this was going to be my new go to. For reference I get long coffin nails, usually ombré with an accent nail. So the second time I go, did something along these lines and was pretty happy, it was $60. I did have 2 broken nails so figured that was why the extra cost. The 3rd time I go I decide not to get ombré, just different colors on different nails with 2 of my nails with a silver line through it, it was $68. So it is what it is. Not too sure why it cost even more but I went home and decided to wait 3 weeks to get my nails filled instead of the normal 2 since it was expensive. Here comes the 4th trip, I needed a new set as they recommended last time so I ask for dark navy blue powder ombré to clear with one accent nail with glitter. Well she decided to do my whole nail in the natural powder (not clear) and dust on a night blue powder for the ombré (not dark blue and not actually using the blue powder for the ombré). At this point I'm already not happy as she didn't do what I had asked but I tend to not fight about it as I know I'll just have to live with them for a few weeks and lesson learned. WELL! Now it's time to pay.... she tells me $75!! I have had enough and asked her to explain why it was $75. Here's the breakdown she gave me: $45 for ombré set (which wasn't really ombré..) $10 for the 2 accent nails $10 for something else that I can't even remember And that's $65 total right? So she had to pause for a minute and say "hmm what else was it that I was thinking?" She then said it was $10 more for the length of my nails. Are you kidding me??? I am so appalled by this place, charging me more every time I go and for things that don't even make sense! You can see in the picture also that they're all different lengths, please let me know if these are $75 nails... I am more unhappy with them than I've ever been, and I've been to some really bad nail salons. After trying lots of different nail salons in the Bay Area, I'm so glad I found French Nail Boutique! My mom and I have been getting acrylic fills done here for a few months now and every single experience we've had has been awesome and shown beautiful attention to detail. It's a clean, small but spacious shop with cute decor and a great selection of colors and designs to choose from. Kim and Susan are amazingly talented and extremely gentle. If it's your first time stopping in, I would totally recommend making an appointment with either of them. My mom has very sensitive hands and Susan is very patient and careful when working with the drill and file. I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to my nails but both of them always impress me. They make sure to routinely check in and ask how we're liking the shape, color or design while they work and their tools always look sterile. When we were getting our nails done it felt like they rushed us out so they could help other people because they made there appointments to close together. After getting home I realized that they forgot to put clear coat on one of my nails. And that the sparkles I got were already lifting. When my friend was getting her nails done she asked for a color and the lady said that color would look bad. Then she just picked a color without letting my friend choose which color she wanted. I've always had a pretty good experience at the salon. However, today I was a very disappointed. I had scheduled an appointment at 11 am, and I was told there was a mix up in the schedule, and I was scheduled at 9:45am instead. So I had told Kim, the owner I wasn't happy about the mix up, and this was the last straw on top of a bunch of other things like a waxing that happened a few months back (which my skin had came off). When it came time to pay, my regular pedicure with gel pedicure was $35, and normally it is $30 (regular pedicure $25 with $5 extra for gel polish). With my gel manicure the total came out to $75 before tip. $90 after with a 20% tip. I had inquired about the extra charge, and I was told by Stephanie that the pricing had "always been like that". I had asked Kim again privately about the price raise and she said that happened 3 months ago. Yet the last time I came to see them, which by the way was about 3 weeks ago, and the pricing was their regular pricing. It just doesn't feel honest to me. I really liked coming here, and given them chance after chance, and had referred countless people over. However, after today I will be looking somewhere else for a new nail home. I have to preface this review by saying I am VERY picky/OCD about my nails. This was my first time at French Nail Boutique. The salon is small and modern with a very welcoming vibe. I visited with my mom and sister and we all got gel manicures. The owner and other staff took the time to get to know our names and addresses us by them throughout our visit. We felt like regulars even from the first visit. Before I could get a new manicure, I had to have my old gel removed. The woman who did my nails was very patient removing my gel (which took longer than normal due to thick polish) and she did not charge me for this particular service. Once she had finished and began filing my nails, I mentioned that I was very picky and wanted them exactly the shape they were just a tiny bit shorter. Unfortunately, she filed inward making them more narrow but the same length (changing the shape). I ended up borrowing the file and fixing them myself (which I'm sure drove her nuts but it was necessary on my end). In order to even them out and attempt to recreate the shape I had before, I had to make my nails much shorter than I initially wanted. But, I guess that's what I get for being picky. Once my nails were all filed, she moved on to polish. Again fine, but I can't say It is my favorite manicure I've ever had. Unfortunately, the polish does not go up against my cuticles making my manicure look as though it's about a week old. The polish is also uneven on one of my nails, has an air bubble on another, and is rough on the tips. So why 4 stars? For the way the staff made us feel. And because My mom's and sister's manicures look great and they didn't have the same problems I did. Would I come back? Absolutely. Though I'd probably make sure I had another artist do my manicure. I really wanted to love this place. It's super close to work and very convenient for me + the interior of this salon is SUPER cute. They also have an amazing collection of colors and designs. Kim is super nice too. I really love the decor the vibes in here. My 2 star review comes from just bad quality work. I got a gel mani on the 26th of April, which was a Thursday, but Monday one nail lifted a litttle and I tried to just glue it down, but exactly one week after my nail apt, a chunk of gel just completely peeled off. Now fast forward to Monday/today, more lifting and it has been less than 2 weeks. I've had gel manis from other salons in the past last for 9 weeks (because I was lazy to go get them done), but besides being grown out, I have never experienced lifting. Sad, I really wanted to love it here, but I think I will make the drive to get my nails done somewhere else. I've gotten 2 gel manis here, and the first one was pretty good -done by Kim. It lifted a little sooner than usual, but still lasted about 2.5-3 weeks and I was satisfied with how fast it was, in and out, which is perfect for my lunch break. This time it was started by Kim and finished by Stephanie and it just didnt not last :( I also noticed they raised their gel mani price up by $5 which would have been fine if my nails lasted. read more

I really wanted to love this place because the service was mostly friendly & the interior is beautiful and seemed clean. I called in & made an appointment for Thursday, 4/26 and the person over the phone gave me a time that would work best for them. My pedi went well and overall shaping and application of polish was fine. No issues. However the mani was really disappointing. Overall shaping was okay...since my nails were short. It's the polish application that really needs work. Excess gel polish needs to be removed/ wiped from the edges and it shouldn't touch the cuticles or skin or it'll lift faster. My nail tech started off okay and when two more clients came in, I could sense her rushing. Polish application is sloppy. I had a huge chunk of the second layer missing from my thumb & bumps all over the other fingers. And the thing I disliked most is that she rubbed lotion on my hands/arms and then told me I was done. It was my first time at this shop and I don't know if this shop gives hot towels to wipe off the lotion or anything but I felt so rushed out of my seat. Additionally, I was asked if I had cash. I saw that they took card so I didn't bring extra cash for the services aside for tip. Then, when I gave the tip, I asked if she had change for a $5 so I could get ones. She said no while patting her pockets and looking at the front table but not really searching. I didn't want to tip only $5 since my services were $55, I wanted to tip $6 or $7. But since she didn't have any change, I just gave her $10. I was really disappointed by the time I left the shop. Then a couple days later, not even a week, I noticed all the edges were lifting and it would get caught in my hair. ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTING. Based on all the other reviews, it seems like this shop does great work for acrylic or fake nails and probably great work by the owner.
