I've always been a fan of Fremont Park. It's like a little oasis in the city right off of 16th street. There's a fun little playground, picnic tables, public art, walking paths, and lots of events! In the past, it's hosted Sactown MoFo, Chalk It Up, and an amazing light saber battle on May the 4th. To all you Star Wars fans, the force was with us that night. It's situated in a nice neighborhood and surrounded by some great bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. I recently wandered by and saw a temporary art installation called Fremont Park Bloom. It was a pleasant and colorful addition to the park. It's a park with a lot to offer, even without any events. Enjoy! read more

We find ourselves parking around this park when visiting businesses in the area and it's perfect to walk out dog through when we're exploring the city. While it's on the smaller side it's a great splash of green in our busy city. They also host some events here throughout the year, like the Chalk it up festival. You can also grab a quick bite nearby and enjoy a fun picnic here. read more

This is a charming little park tucked into midtown, offering a peaceful, shaded escape beneath towering oak and magnolia trees. While there are no picnic tables, you'll find a few benches scattered throughout for relaxing or enjoying a bite. The playground features classic equipment--swings, slides, a play structure, and a seesaw--though it could benefit from more shade during hot days. Parking is metered along the street, but you might find free spots a few blocks away with a short walk. The park is surrounded by residential homes and a nice mix of nearby restaurants. We grabbed sandwiches from The Sandwich Spot just down the street, which made for a perfect casual picnic in the park. read more

This park is located between residential buildings and tons of restaurants and bars. It has benches to sit at, a park for kids, lots of shade from the trees, and is a popular park for various activities. I came here for yoga in the park with my friend and we really enjoyed it! I this is also the park that they hold the annual "chalk it up" festival at! Definitely recommend that festival and this park during the day. read more

My friend and I came here for Thursday yoga in the park! It was such a wonderful experience. The yoga was great and the park was lovely. I really appreciate the amount of shade that the trees are able to offer. It kept the park cooler and the sun out of our eyes during yoga. The park was full of families playing and enjoying the weather. It was clean and well kept as well. There was some disruption from patrons; however, there were park rangers there to maintain some sort of order. read more

I walk by this park on my way to Grocery Outlet. It's across the street from several businesses such as Karma Brew, Five Tacos & Beer, Thai Canteen, and Starbucks. There's a new public works project going on so they've recently installed porta potties. There's a kids playground and a number of benches. Parents must accompany their kids in the playground. read more

One of my favorite parks to visit. Yoga in the park is always great! Parking can be difficult.

On Sunday my boyfriend and I decided to take my daughter to the park to kill some time before brunch with friends nearby. As soon as we walked through their little gate to the playground, my daughter was so excited to play! Their was a nice teeter-totter, monkey bars, a little rock climbing wall, 2 slides and a swing set as well on their playground, she had a blast! I would highly recommend visiting this local park in Downtown Sacramento and we will definitely be back to explore more our next visit! Maybe even check out the farmers market! read more

Early morning my kids out of school and I'm on vacation hell yea! Five more days . He's not going to get up and ride his scooter , lots of friendly people at the park you can really enjoy and nice day here. Aside from the occasional loud music coming from the cars passing through. There are lots of places to eat within walking distance and the light rail is a couple blocks away. Not too dirty for the most. Not many homeless people that I can see in this day just people sitting out reading books or phone surfing , walking their dogs on a leash. Just enjoying a day out in the sun. It feels pretty safe here you can take your kids to play at the playground. Not too many people but some. All and all it's pretty nice here. read more

Soooooo lucky to have Fremont Park so close by. When the weather is nice, it's one of my favorite places to sit and read, often with a coffee from one of the adjacent shops. I also like to let my inner 6 year old win and use the swings at the kiddie park. There's a Tuesday Farmer's Market here with some pretty sweet local offerings on the cheap. Millions of peaches, peaches for me! Perfectly placed near the 16th street light rail, with apartments on all sides. You've also got Karma Brew, Starbucks, Insight Coffee Roasters, Hot Italian, and Naked Coffee Lounge bordering the park on all sides. I'm a fan of the statues, the fountain, the park, and the awesome walkability factor. You can usually get your doggie pet fix here too. Just be sure to ask both owner and doggie for pets before sticking your hands out! There's a Chalk It Up event coming up real soon that sounds delightful! read more

I got to check out this cute park during my brief visit to Sacramento. My friend who I was staying with lived across the street and I walked her pup here in the morning and enjoyed my Starbucks in the afternoon. It was a gorgeous day out with the sun shining so that is always a lovely backdrop to a park. This park is open and only a few blocks long and wide but the perfect fit for this cute little neighborhood. There are great lunch spots along the way too so do yourself a favor and catch lunch outdoors. The Starbucks is on the corner as well so take your drink to go and enjoy a nice walk. This was a lovely piece of Sacramento to check out and put a nice visual in my mind for the city. read more

Cute little park with lots of benches for sitting and reading. There's a gated up play area for kids, a cute (non-working?) Fountain in the center and lots of grass to hang out on. There's not a lot of lighting in the center of the park at night but there is enough light hitting the center so it's not sketchy. Considering the amount of traffic this park gets, it seems to always be pretty clean and we'll kept. Check the local newspapers and event calendars for fun things happening at Fremon Park. read more

Park in the middle of midtown... . Across the street is hot italian the pizza place with a cool vibe, gelato, pizza, beers, and espresso.... . Also another fav spot of mines is insight coffee shop with a nice environment to enjoy a nice hot latte. . The park not too big not to small. Great to hang out, do some yoga, chill on the lawn, do whatever you like. Enjoy some nature. . Some of my favorite events is . Every tues in the morning to noon they have farmers market. . Chalk art on the side walk during summer, which is very nice to see people buy a square of the floor and start drawing with chalk. Some of them amazes you! Cartoon, abstract, funny, cute, queer, local, anything art is included. . Cycle fest -if your looking for a nice vintage, modern, unique bike. You got to go cuz its amazing. Lots of rare bikes for sure. . Overall this is a nice park. Close to restaurant, coffee spots, and never felt to crowded at these events. In the spring/summer they have a very nice Farmers Market on Tuesday. Fruit can get as low as $1 a pound right before they close and go up to $1.50 a pound the last few weeks. It's a really good deal on fruit. Strawberries are a bit pricy, but they may be worth the money. I love strawberries, but with the great deals on peaches and nectarines, I stick with them. If you can team up with a friend, near the end of the market you can buy a big bag for $3-5. The veggies aren't as a good deal as the Asian market, but it's convenient. They also sell flavored almonds and pistachios. They are delicious, but pricy. A man also sells lavender products such as spray. Price around as prices aren't consistent. I've never purchased the pastries as they seem to be pricy. The tamales use to be good, but last time we had them they were a bit dry. I like that there are lots of places to eat and drink around here. At both corners of the park is a coffee shop. They also have a new Thai place that I heard is good. The Juice place next to it is not the full blown place that serves smoothies, ect. It just serves cold pressed juice, coffee, and tea. The real juice place is a few blocks down the way. At least you can get your deposit back at this depot. The people that usually frequent the part are really sketchy and personally I wouldn't use the restrooms. This is what really takes the stars down. I can't use the potty and they have one. There are benches and shade trees so it is a nice place to have lunch or take a break. It's not your basketball or soccer playing park. They have a nice play area, but due to the sketchy folks I personally wouldn't take kids unless its farmers market day where it's filled with state workers. read more

A great place for the homeless to take a nap. This park would be a awesome place to hang out if I weren't bugged for change, spare light rail tickets and have to put up with cat calls made by the local homeless guy while I pass through on my way to work. I guess it's a close park to the light rail so it's a convenience for them. There are some up sides to the place! They do hold a farmers market in the park. It's the one time per week that the place actually looks super clean. I really enjoy walking around the farmers market and shopping for the fresh local produce! There are a few coffee shops around the park, I'd steer clear of Karma Brew. But the Hot Italian and Naked Coffee are amazing and have a great view of the park! read more

A great feature of this downtown park is also the regular farmer's markets it hosts. They are not as exciting as they are usually on weekdays with less selection and hugging the busy main streets, but having something like that on a regular basis in the heart of your city should give any supporter of locally-grown foods some pride! read more

I like this park. It's tiny, but it's a nice little park that's close by with a fountain. Sometimes you see some people who might sketch you out a little, but that's all part of living in midtown. There's definitely a lot of regulars who walk their dogs around the park, there's always a few little dogs walking around. It's a great location by some nice coffee shops and places to eat. read more

A great park that is maintained by both the city and Friends of Fremont Park, one of the most dedicated neighborhood groups in the city. Tomorrow - Saturday April 30 - is SactoMoFo at this park, so come and join several thousand Sacramentans and try the best food trucks in Northern California! Small and cute park. You have the playground to bring your kids, the fountain, the chalk festival to view chalk in art form, bike movie festivals and a great place to walk your little animals. Lots of trees although I would recommend bringing a picnic blanket because certain parts of the grass actually hurt! The park is surrounded by local businesses downtown so you will likely be tempted to either get Starbucks, gelato at Hot Italian, some coffee at Naked or some mochi yogurt. Have fun and make sure you put on that SPF for a warm day laying out at this great park! read more

I live in the suburbs so our parks compared to the city parks are a bit different....but different is good! I love the simplicity of this park and even though it's surrounded by great restaurants and busy streets, the minute you step through the black wrought iron gates....you are in your own little urban oasis. Swings, slides, a couple of monkey bars.....really, that's all you need for your imagination to take place. Some may say that it's a bit too plain or simple, but personally, I prefer this to the obnoxiously neon painted new parks that are being built nowadays. This park has character and on a brisk autumn afternoon, I look forward to children with mismatched clothes hanging upside down, young couples sipping their coffee as they stroll through the park, the occasional old folks sitting contently on the benches or the random Asian chick (that's me!) reading a book while swinging gently from side to side.....ahhh.....great times to be had by all! read more

I was really surprised no one had written a review about Fremont Park. This small downtown park contains a great little playground and would be a nice spot for a picnic downtown. It's a cute green little park! My favorite thing about this park however is that they hold a sidewalk chalk art festival there Labor Day weekend. The festival is an awesome experience; each artist purchases a square of the sidewalk and transforms it using chalk into an artistic masterpiece. Some of the artists are sponsored by local businesses (I remember seeing a subway blimp in 1 picture, and a few for local galleries and florists in others). Some families just buy a square and work together. I always find something remarkable and fun and I have had some great conversations with the artists. Funds from this festival go to a nonprofit organization created to benefit children's arts education and art activities. They sell snow cones, other treats and souvenirs. It's really a wonderful event and I've never regretted going even when it rained. You literally walk around the park (anywhere but the sidewalk) and soak up the work by local artists. A great place to bring the kids too and a wonderful way to spend Labor Day weekend. And its FREE! read more

Great downtown park. Tons of great events happen there almost always. The last event I attended was Friday night Movies at the Park (The Goonies!!). There was food trucks, vendors, live music before the movie, and then a perfect evening to watch a movie under the stars. Wow this park is amazing. Last week I attended an Etsy party, farmers market, and free Hot Lunch concert. Great location, amazing free events, and cool fountain. Came here for the SacTown Wingfest event this last weekend. The park is clean, parking was fairly easy and the location convenient. The kids play area looked really nice as well, but I was unable to venture over as it was blocked off from the event I was attending. Overall a nice simple park. If I lived nearby I could see myself coming here for a picnic or to bring my dog. read more

Cute park, but sometimes there are too many bums! The Naked Lounge Coffee House is one of the few reasons I come here. I get to walk around on a sunny day and catch up with a friend while enjoying my Mochaccino. There are a few restaurants nearby as well such as Hot Italian, Nishiki Sushi, Thai Canteen, Uncle Vito's, Pronto and my other favorite, University of Beer. That makes being able to find parking at this park a plus. There's a small playground as well. It's a decent park in the day time, but at night I would steer clear unless you need to park around it. Other than that, this is a typical small park in the midtown grid. read more

Considered by many Midtown locals to be the best park in the central city grid. Located in an active location surrounded by high density apartment buildings and cool local restaurants.
