I'd hate to give this place away. I've been looking for a water access that was a great replacement for a spot in the Bay Area. My senior dog loves romping in the water and having zoomies in the sand. This place is clean and free! There is construction and places fenced off but besides that it's perfect! Lots of hike/ walk trails and multiple spots for water access. Must be leashed but certain spots as long as your dog has recall set it is ok for them to be off leash.

Its under construction but I hope they make a trail exclusive for walkers. Sharing the trail sucks, especially when you bring the family or pets along. Its a nice Riverwalk by a park and a pool. Idk if the pool is open to the public. Nice neighborhood. Some of leash dogs and their owners I'm not the biggest fan of, especially when they have no discipline or recall.

So we went on probably a bad day overall, but the experience was great. I could only imagine what this place would be like on a "normal" day. The day and time we went was during the Covid crisis, along with the wild fires during the summer. It was a short hike to get to the waters, but we were the only ones around. We took our dog too. There are many trails you can follow, and I would only imagine there are many people hiking and getting their exercise on. We did see some people walking their dogs too. I would imagine this is the place to go on a hot day. I've added pictures on how to get to the water. I would imagine that the tide level may change during the seasons.

Doesn't look like much , you have to walk passed the pools and down the path but it's worth it. Do NOT GO in crocs LOL. Very beautiful and peaceful with ducks and dogs swimming around. Would come back , since they allow animals here as well. I love animals. Kids were swimming here nice family area. There was a family with about 5 kids leaving when it was getting dark so people go there very often and feel safe enough to bring their children for a nice picnic/ lake day ! Pure happiness from dogs and children while at this place just because it's so open free and beautiful. Enjoy! Thanks for reading hope this helps !

A preview of the secret spot!

The paradise beach itself is very small and mildly beautiful but if u find your way through the jungle to the island in the middle, then it's a 5 star spot, but can you find it?

It is a little bit of a walk. I went to the left of the actual beach, just cuz I don't like people lol but still a nice spot!

Cute little spot to dip your legs in the water or just to get away in hot day. It's not too crowded, cute little spot for picnics.

This isn't even a beach. It's just like your typical grounds next to a river. They should change its name to Paradise River.

Ask the Community - Paradise Beach

    Can dogs go off leash?

No. It is illegal to have your dogs off leash at this park. Rangers frequent the area and will give you a citation. Please take your dog to a dog park if you want your dog to be off leash.

Curious is the water has receded at all yet? Looking for actual "beach" area :) thanks!

It says it's at the top of the hill on maps but you have to go pretty far to find the water. It's still a pretty big "beach" not as big as the past.

Play Structures: I was seriously impressed by the variety of equipment specifically designed for the 2-5 year old age range. It's hard to find parks that cater so well to that specific gap! Creative Designs: The creativity here is next level. The kids absolutely loved exploring the castle and the ship structures--it really sparked their imagination and kept them busy for a long time. Right next to the playground is a great duck pond. It was a huge hit with the kids and provided a nice, scenic break from the climbing and sliding. Even late in the day, the park felt welcoming and well-maintained. It's a perfect destination for a family outing where the kids can safely burn off some energy.

Just as with furry children, human ones also have tons of energy that must be let out. So instead of having them cooped up, I'd will myself to take them to the park even when I'm bone tired after a long week of work. William Land Park is THE best place to help kids burn off energy so they can simmer down and sleep well after they have all the fun. It's really not a bad thing, I don't want to sound like I'm begrudged to take my kids out to play, but you know how sometimes you just want to veg out at home after work and esp on weekends? Yup. But my wife's always right that it's better to just suck it up and take the littles out and let me run wild than to fight the inevitable and try to keep them occupied at home. So we make the trek and we're never disappointed, even when parking can be challenging (hint: don't go at peak times on the weekend, esp Saturday mid morning to early afternoon). With all that said, WLP is really a great place. It's huge, first of all, with a big free playground on the North West side of the park, then of course there's the Sacramento Zoo which is just the most iconic place in Land Park. Then for littles there's Fairy Tale Town which was really a hit with my kids when they were younger. And when they got older and wanted more excitement, Funderland was the place to be for several years with all the roller coaster and other amusement park rides that were good enough for their age when they still got the thrill of being up and down and thrown around on a coaster or a spinning tea cup or a rocking pirate ship. And it helps that both places are pretty affordable for a fun day out. What's impressive about Land Park though, is that there's something for everyone in this 166.5 acres regional park. I looked up some stats and it features 23 picnic areas, 2 softball fields, 1 lighted Little League field, 3 baseball fields, 2 bantam soccer fields, 1 full-sized soccer field, 1 basketball court, adventure play area (the free playground), tot play area with free wading pool (in the same area as the playground), an indoor community facility, several restrooms, several ponds, a 3.4 mile jogging trail, the Ampitheater, fee-based pony rides, and 5 garden areas including the WPA Rock Garden, 3 groves, 2 parking lots, the well loved Golf course, the Sac Zoo which my kids really loved as kids, Fairytale Town and Funderland as mentioned above. In fact, for awhile I was playing volleyball here every Saturday, it must've been a couple of years from spring through fall and even over the winter if the weather was good and the grass wasn't soggy/ground wasn't muddy from rain. I had a great time playing vball with young'uns half my age as well as those who were quite a few years older than me and yet were so fit they literally kept me on my toes. There were definitely some talented folks on the vball courts and it was all volunteer organized and free to join and play. I might have to go back to it before I'm totally out of commission. All in all, William Land Park is very unique and truly is one of Sacramento's most historic and special places. We drive by often, but don't go there enough, and really need to get out and get some fresh air and exercise on the beautiful grounds of this local gem.

But aside from the homeless, this place is awesome. There's a zoo, golf course, play ground and AMPLE picnic area. There's dirt trails along most the outskirts of the grassy areas. Not too much sidewalk so it may not be too wheelchair friendly. Aside from this, the park is most flat so there's no uphill/downhill. It's peaceful and rarely overcrowded, usually only during nice summer days. The park is so big though, you'd have no problem finding a place to sit. Schools and other groups often do field trips here. All in all, a great park. And grateful for the workers that keep it clean and safe for all of us to enjoy!

By 12:50pm the rain was starting to pick up and we were almost running for cover. I had my raincoat on, but my husband only had his leather coat on. He was warm, but getting wet. He wished he had brough his umbrella. The park is very lush this time of year with a few puddles here and there on the paths. We though we were on the capital look, but realized that the loop is referring to the outer edge of the park, we started on the loop and then wove through the park, so I'm going to just review the park today and post pictures from the interior park. I really like the cactus garden. It's a little scary at times as the prickles are so large and my husband is worried if he walks by too close they will attack him. So, we kept our distance and skipped the close up shots. Today some of the cactus was in bloom which was pretty spectacular. I loved their orange color and brightness. They really popped. They do have a warning that says keep out of the Cactus garden so you are forewarned to stay away so you don't get poked. I took a picture of a cool tree. The top must have been cut at one time because now there is only a branch that goes over the path. It's fun to read all the tree tags and see what kind of trees growing in the park. They have two types of paths in the park, some that are paved and some that are possibly finely crushed rock. Both paths were a little puddly today, but not too back that you couldn't walk around the puddles. There are a few benches in the park. May of the ones under the trees are occupied by the unhoused population. The ones out in the open are usually vacant and used by local workers to enjoy some fresh air and have lunch outside. Come enjoy Capital Park. I suggest you take public transit here if you are visiting on a weekday as the parking is slim on the streets, but there are aways garages available. If you come on the weekends, there is much more parking on the streets. So, you have no excuse as to not enjoying this beautiful park.

We even came on a windy day, and it was still a wonderful place to be. It is so spacious that it's the perfect spot to fly kites. A few of us were flying kites together, and it was such a relaxing, heartwarming experience. It's incredibly family and dog friendly, super roomy, and has so much going on. Because it's so clean and well maintained, this might just become the park I bring my kids to most often, and it is definitely a top choice for hosting future family events! It is perfect for a workout, sports activities, or just letting the kids play. I love the layout, especially how they designed the two separate grass areas where one sits at a lower elevation, while the other is level with the rest of the park. But honestly, what really blew me away was the restroom. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but I'm serious! So many park restrooms are cold, dark, dirty, and lacking privacy. This one felt downright luxurious. It is completely temperature controlled, which was especially nice since it was breezy outside! It was warm, well lit, exceptionally clean, and had absolutely no odor. It even sounded like it had a great ventilation system running. The only minor downside was the lack of toilet seat covers, but that's an easy fix. The entire park feels pretty new with a beautiful, modern design, conveniently located right behind the Sky River Casino. Highly recommend checking it out! Rate: 10/10
