I don't live in Woonsocket but wanted to support a smaller business vs a large chain. Called ahead & spoke to front desk agent 1, she confirmed they take my eye insurance which is a common one. Walk in day of exam, get my exam done, I was then told by front desk agent 2 (I believe it was a blonde woman) I don't have eye insurance and only my exam is free but the glasses/lens aren't covered by any insurance. I know for a fact I have coverage and tell her I called to confirm I did and was told so by front desk agent 1 and it was taken by this eye office. I was disregarded by front desk agent 2 and told to call HR at my job about it. I wasn't going to stay and debate as she was unfriendly. Contacted my HR office and they confirmed I had said eye provider. I call the eye office back and reached front desk agent 1 who confirmed (again!) I had said eye insurance which I said I know I did all along. Because of this incompetent experience from front desk agent 2 I just had them send my eye prescription over to an outside big chain eye office instead because this office wasted my time calling around and driving to another town. I go to the big chain eye office, pick out my glasses no problem. Get the glasses and the prescriptions felt so off, he tells me wear them for a few weeks to get used to them and if it still feels off call the small eye chain (Atlantic family) and ask for a re-exam. I wear them for Over a month hoping to get used to them. They don't feel right. I feel cross eyed wearing them, can't gauge distance when I walk and the floor feels elevated. I go back to Atlantic family, they test my glasses and said my prescriptions match what was on file from exam at their office. I ask if maybe the exam needs to be redone ? She says if I wanted to "entertain" that idea I could get re-examed. I didn't like the wording and treatment assuming I was being a difficult customer (why would I lie about the prescriptions being off?) all I wanted was to see correctly while driving and living life lol. Disappointed again at this place. I just wait until 2025 comes around instead to get exam at a different big chain instead of Atlantic family. I Won't come back. My eye exam was a bit weird too. She barely had me view the board to call off what I saw. Just 2 lines of it. The exam would be more in depth as I had sat in with my child's exam and it seemed more thorough. Fast forward a few months later it's now 2025: I get a new eye exam from a big eye chain and they tell me old prescription from only a few months ago at Atlantic family was completely off. I had astigmatism in BOTH eyes not just ONE and the vision in my left eye was completely different than what Atlantic family prescribed. Don't let Atlantic family eye gaslight you into believing the exam they do is correct.

She said she understood and then took me to a rack to pick out some options that were covered. After sitting back down, she tried to upsell every option to me. I declined them, and then was still met by a $110 quote on my way out. There are signs everywhere saying "no refunds", which did not inspire my confidence in the quality of their craftsmanship. I can get 5 pairs of similar quality glasses online for less money and be met with better customer service with return options, so I'll be doing that. During my short thirty minute visit, the phone was ringing off the hook, calls were going unanswered, and another customer was in the lobby literally crying in frustration over having had such terrible experiences with the office. I had a similar experience with this office last year and will likely be taking my business elsewhere in the future, which is a shame because again, the tech and doctor seemed knowledgeable and efficient.

The text message was sent 28 minutes before appointment. They called me too 28 minutes before but I'm driving so my phone is in automatic do not disturb until I shut off my car. I asked why and I was told by the receptionist that even though I confirmed my appointment by email prior thereto, because I failed to return their call when they called me to remind me of the appointment they cancelled it. I confirmed my appointment and that is all that should be necessary. I lost an hour and a half of work with no pay. I will find a nice little small office who will treat me with respect.

While I was waiting to be seen I overheard their staff making phone calls to confirm appointments for upcoming days and they went the extra mile to confirm insurance coverage on their patients behalf so that there were no surprises. They also send text messages reminding people of their appointments, which for an anti-phone person like me is wonderful. Their office is clean, spacious, and welcoming.
