When I had my exam, I saved a specific pair of glasses in my profile (single lens, with the scratch resistant coating & transition lenses in gray). All I had to do when I decided to get them was either call or come in to pay for them. I decided to go in again in person since I was in the area. A woman Sarai went over my order with me EXACTLY what I had chosen several times. Everything was perfect. When signing the papers I thought it odd she mentioned not to worry about putting my initials on a declining form but she said "don't worry, you're gonna get it". I knew I should've listened to my gut. I knew something didn't feel right & went against my better judgment by trusting her. Since the amount was right (almost $800) that I paid, it was definitely with the transitions I thought to myself. The day the glasses arrived, I noticed the glasses didn't transition in the sun. When I questioned it, Sarai had the audacity to tell me It doesn't look like I ordered it with it. She doesn't remember our prior conversation due to the many clients she helps. I was beyond FURIOUS & asked if there were cameras/recordings because surely they would be able to hear & see that I ordered it with it. The discussion was ALWAYS with the glasses & transitions. WHY the hell else would I pay that much for glasses without it?!! The manager was of NO help. I understand in the end, I should have read before signing (and that's on me) but I 100% was lied to & feel duped. Them to have her lie directly in my face was just insulting. I've been a customer of Bling since they first opened on Reservoir Ave back in the day and have bought several glasses for myself & my children who are now grown adults. I have been going to Bling for my glasses for some time, but my Optometrist recently retired and I don't care for the new person that took over for him, so I figured I would give the Optometrist at Bling a shot. Dr. Stephanie Hanson was refreshing! You can absolutely tell that she loves what she does. She is easy to speak with and explains each part of her processes as she goes along. Do not be afraid to ask questions either, Dr. Hanson is eager to answer them. I truly enjoyed my former Optometrist because he was the same way...very enthusiastic, but the person that took over his practice is not as open in sharing or explaining. That is not at all the case at Bling Eyewear; Dr. Hanson is excellent and I would very highly recommend her services to anyone. Of course the store and staff are wonderful as well. They are very through, have a great selection of frames and offerings in lenses and use the most up to date technology to assure that your glasses and their fit is right. A treasure hiding in the corner of Chapel View lies Bling Eyewear. The first person I met at the desk was very professional and after checking me in asked me to take a seat. The inside is very clean and decorating is as the name explains Bling everywhere. I believe this refers not only to the friendly staffs shining personalities but the pendant lights and the lovely display cases that surround the perimeter of Bling Eyewear that are filled with every designer you can imagine. The OD, Dr. Stephanie Hanson is pleasant and professional. She made me feel comfortable and was very interested in getting on with my exam. The computer technology in the high tech equipment she used blew me away. It wasn't like your old fashioned eye dr appointment of years ago. It was great. I actually enjoyed it. When it was complete I was brought out to choose some nice frames. I chose Tiffany. I'm a fan of all things Tiffany so it was normal for me to fall in love with the simple Black & Tiffany blue frames. Another staff member helped me with lens choices and was helpful with my decisions with the few frames I picked out. She was patient and helpful. I planned my new hairstyle and color before I went to pick up my glasses, which were ready quicker than I imagined. I received many compliments from the Bling staff. I honestly say that I never had an experience like this when getting my eye exam. So, I had a very positive experience here at Bling Eyewear. I plan to stay a client for as long as I can. For a long time, I was put off by their name and crazy website. I had my eyes set (no pun) on a pair of Prada frames and from the list of places in my vision network, this seemed most likely to carry them. I saw lots of styles from $40 to $400. The only Prada frames they had were sunglasses though. Its hard not to find something you like, and I found many. The saleswoman was nice, not pushy. I was deciding between 2, and she told me the more expensive pair didn't look as good on me. Cons: 1) At first they were a bit snooty about my insurance, acting like it was crappy. Pretended to know but were wrong. 2) Said they'd call insurance & get back to me next day. They didn't do it until I called them a week later and they put me on hold to do it. And then it was "wow, your insurance is quite good!" Yes, I knew that. 3) When I picked up my glasses, the man was all friendly and offered to adjust them if I come back. So I asked, "Uhh, you can't do it now?" And he just kinda made a quick adjustment while I stood at the counter, didn't even offer me a seat. Good places take their time & feel up your head & stuff to make sure it all fits well. I'm happy with my glasses but thought service was half-assed. Update: I went back to get glasses for my husband. They really do have some great high fashion stuff. He ended up with a totally unique frame from a Japanese brand. Again, service was just "meh" (I had to show them how to use their printer) but I'll put up with it because I'm too lazy to shop around. read more

Our experience was horrible. They were so disorganized and the lab that they use constantly screws up prescriptions and your glasses are never ready when they say they are. The lenses are constantly screwed up and the staff we encountered displayed a provincial, elevated ego, yet when there is an issue, they treat customers as if they are the problem, despite the lab messing up constantly. These issues cost us a lot of time off work (hours) with their disorganization, poor scheduling and poor communication. They have a great selection of designer frames, but the support is horrific and the customer service is dreadful. If we are paying a premium, we expect quality and excellent customer service. We will be taking our family elsewhere from now on. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I've had repeated horrible experiences with Bling. First, they wouldn't order my contacts without the doctor seeing me a second time. I have NEVER had an optometrist do this, but y'know, whatever. It turns out I didn't like the contacts she had me try, so I just decided to order the ones I used to get. After giving me the run around for a bit, they said they'd call me back on Monday so I can order my contacts. Cool. Monday rolls around and nothing. I decided to give them til the following week-I had a "follow up" appointment with them anyway because prior they'd told me I wouldn't be able to order contacts until I did so. I went in for my appointment and the girl looks at me like I have five heads saying I don't have an appointment. I told her I'd called trying to order contacts and was told I'd get a call back to order contacts. She said "oh I cancelled your appointment because the doctor approved us giving you your prescription." No one called giving me my prescription, it wasn't emailed to me, nothing was communicated. So, frustrated, I asked if I could just order my contacts. The girl at the desk helped me order them and said I'd get four months of contacts for $90 and using my insurance I had $0 to pay out of pocket. Great. Awesome. Today, I go to pick them up and there are only 6 in each box. 6 contacts x 2 weeks each = 12 weeks of contacts. 12 weeks of contacts is not the same as 4 months. Not to mention the fact that when I asked her about it she said, "I'm not good at mental math but I wouldn't mess up that badly"... but she did. Honestly, I'm just so frustrated with this entire experience that I'm just going to order contacts online from now on. read more

They have a decent selection of frames and a broad range of prices. My first time in I was scoping out the selection to see if anything caught my attention. I was in and out pretty quickly but was approached and offered help. I fell in love with a frame but always need to think about big purchases. I came back the next weekend and was helped by some one else. He proceeded to let me know the frames I selected really weren't very good quality and didn't I want to check out the Prada/ Gucci/ insert $$ here. My questions is, if they are poor quality frames that the sales person really feels shouldn't be bought WHY are they carrying them in their store? This really makes no sense to me. Makes me question the integrity of the store. If I hadn't already set my heart on the "poor quality frames" (which BTW are very cool!) I would have gone elsewhere. I went for my first visit into Bling Eyewear today looking for new frames for my 4 1/2 year old son after he broke his. I cannot say enough great things about the staff! Jim was so helpful and patient in deciding on a pair of frames for him. They ALL were so kind and patient with my son as well, seeing as he's a 4 1/2 year old boy and can only tolerate so much when shopping! I've spent a ton of money at Bling for frames, lenses, exams, and contacts in the past for both my son and myself. A few years ago, after purchasing my graduate student son a pair of Tom Ford frames at Bling (along with the lenses) I called to say the frame broke, without provocation, at the temple. These were less than a year old when they just suddenly gave out. I was told, on the phone and in person, the frames would be replaced free of charge. We returned to Bling with the glasses. The man waiting on us looked the frames over and agreed they were defective. He said they would replace the frames at no additional cost. I returned on the date I was told to pick them up. That same man waited on us. He said he never ordered the frames and then stated I'd have to pay for the replacement frames. These Tom Ford frames were VERY expensive defective frames. I have never gone back to Bling. They were very nice when selling their products to us but not nice or fair at all when there was a problem with their product! They never made good on selling us that defective frame. It cost me hundreds of dollars to purchase these Tim Ford frames. Then there was the expense and time needed going to an honest place and purchasing more frames. Bling made a lot of money off us in the past but they are the losers as they have lost two very good customers. read more

I needed new frames and lenses and couldn't find anything I liked at my old place. Checking around led me here, and I couldn't be happier with my new glasses. The staff took a lot of time working with me to settle on the frames I ultimately decided on, which was tough because I had three or four that I really liked a lot. I had no issues with my insurance and after my new glasses arrived they spent more time making sure I was comfortable with them as they are my first pair of progressives. I needed to stop in a couple times since getting them to get minor tweaks done to the frames. Each time I felt welcomed and they made the adjustment quickly. The store has a nice selection of higher end brands so if you're looking for frames with a little style this is a good option. Very happy with the service and my glasses. read more

I came in over the summer to buy my first pair of designer sunglasses; so happy I chose Bling! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and they took the time to make sure they were adjusted to my preference. I also got a little goodie bag with a cleaning cloth on top of the one Burberry supplied me with. The sunglasses have been a dream and I haven't even had the need to go in yet to get them adjusted, but the offer is on the table for a free adjustment should I need one. After three years of looking for new frames, I went into Bling in Cranston RI. First they happily accept insurance! The selection is great. I have trouble finding frames for my face. Nichole, the sales person, was so great! Once she found a frame style, she combed the stock and brought about 10 frames to try. I was greeted most cordially, and was assisted almost immediately by Ricardo, one of the opticians. He was absolutely fantastic. He attended to my every request. We spent quite some time selecting the right frames, and he was most patient, explaining everything to me, without a hint of pressure or making me feel rushed. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet the nicest people I have ever met in Rhode Island. I broke my glasses on a Tuesday at work, called Bling Eyewear during my lunch hour and they squeezed me in for an appointment after work. I picked out my glasses that night and picked them up the following day! Stephanie, her mom, dad & sister truly made my customer service experience the easiest it has ever been to buy glasses. Being from New York and not being in my normal eyeglasses store, they made me feel like I was apart of their family. I have spent most of my adult life purchasing eyewear at big box stores. I was under the erroneous belief that I would find the best value there. I struggled because regardless of the insurance or the affinity program discounts I used the price always remained essentially the same. Due to my prescription and the environments in which I wear them I would always buy quality frames and the highest quality lenses. I would buy one pair of all around glasses progressive/transitions and a pair of dedicated sunglasses. They would always cost approx. $1400.00. On a whim I decided to comparison shop at Bling. The exact same frames and lenses priced out several hundred dollars less expensive. While there the customer service rep suggested I consider supplemental vision insurance. I researched the options and chose one, although I did have to wait 30 days for the coverage to take effect. I went in yesterday, chose the same frames I always do, OAKLEY, progressive lenses with the upgraded extras and one with transitions extra, the other dedicated sunglasses lenses. I worked with Kristen who was extremely professional and efficient. After writing the two orders and totally it, even adding a discount I was unaware of the total came in less that 1/3 the big box store. I was amazed! I went to Bling Eyewear to get prescription lenses fitted to custom frames for my Google Glass. As a member of the Glass Explorer Program I had them in the early stages and not many people in RI, if any had them. So I image no one had added frames to their Glass yet. This was indeed the first time they worked on Google Glass and they were extremely careful which made me feel comfortable handing over my expensive hardware to them. The owner personally took care of me, she was very nice and personable. The rest of the employees there were also professional. Great experience from my eye exam to fit and finish. I have been a huge fan of Bling Eyewear for years, but my past two experiences with them were lacking. I purchased prescription glasses last year and the next day saw on their website that they offered Crizal. I called and was told that the lab hadn't started making the lenses so they would contact me back after verifying with the lab and would provide me with a price. Two days later I contacted the store and the lab had already made the lenses by this point and they would give me a discount on another pair of lenses. No thanks. I kept what I purchased. Now I called them just to get my pupillary distance so I could order a pair of Kate Spade glasses that are not sold at Bling and was told they are not able to give that out because if it's wrong they are responsible. Well, if it were wrong, my current glasses from them would be wrong. So they just don't want me purchasing a cheap pair elsewhere and are going to make me try to measure it myself. Little do they know that framesdirect does not take my vision insurance and I was going to make a trip to see them for a more expensive pair of Chanel glasses to use my insurance, but I guess it's off to Optix for me. I still give them three stars because all of my other interactions with them have been stellar, but at this point, I'm done working with them. read more
