Amazing service and great food!! Smaller area but happy atmosphere! Food was very delicious with hand cut fries and lots of handmade food. It was cash only though. Very family friendly and my family enjoyed it. When you think of hole in the wall you should think of this place!!

Wop Chop with Jo-Jo's fries and a can of Draught Works IPA made in nearby Missoula.

You really need to stop eating at Arby's. They may have the meats but these guys have the Wop Chop. The Wop Chop is a really unique twist on a pork sandwich. The chop is tenderized and deep fried to a golden crisp. The chop is then placed on a simple but tasty bun with sliced onions and a couple pickle slices. Pair the burger with a can of local IPA from Draught Works based in Missoula. The IPA has a crisp bite with a smooth finish. Really good job, guys. The Wop Chop comes without cheese. Trust me, you don't need any. Add some mayo with their horseradish sauce the result will be a super tasty sandwich that isn't greasy nor masked by the cheese. Let those flavours sing! Skip the homemade fries. They are crispy and definitely a solid choice. Instead, get the Jo-Jos fries. Essentially, homemade potato wedges served with a side of sour cream. Give this small tavern your cash. They have earned it. The food is solid.

I first heard about this place years ago from the Man VS Food episode when he went to Butte. Since then I made it a point to get a Whop Chop whenever I go through Butte. Before the show I never even heard of a whop chop. Since my first one, I have been hooked. The combo of pork, onion, pickles and mustard work perfectly together. The Freeway Tavern is a dive bar, no question about it, and the service can be a little rough. It is worth a visit for the whop chop. I have never had anything else there but that. Their location is right off the highway, so it is easy to get to and then back on I90. Worth a visit for the whop chop for sure.

Wop Chop!

Divey. Plenty of parking. Had to try the iconic "Wop Chop". A deep fried pork chop about an inch thick and covered in batter. Some reviewers claimed that it wasn't as good as it used to be. Well it's the first time I've been, and it was awesome! Perfectly cooked and juicy

It's little bar restaurant with lots of locals famous for the wop chop sandwich. It was really unique and good plus I had the breaded mushrooms which were also good. It's a pork loin sandwich which Butte is famous for. It's worth trying

We stopped and got a whoop chop. Sorry the were not as good as before. The meat was very dry and the sandwiches very bland.

Had to try this Butte landmark. Didn't disappoint. A couple of beers, a Wop Chop and some Jo Jo's definitely hit the spot.

Get the wop chop and Jo Jo's for food. Friendly staff. Place gets busy at lunch when we we're there. It's a tavern.

We saw a picture of the brownie sundae when we were searching Yelp reviews and made it our "special…read morestop" on the way from Missoula to Livingston. And what a stop it was. We left with happy smiles and full bellies. The milkshakes were solid and the banana split was yummy...just plan on eating it at one of their picnic tables and not in the car. While we were there we noticed that the locals were ordering the pork chop...so my guess is that it's pretty good! We plan to go back just to try them.

Always looking for a yummy (and cheap) burger, Husband and I pulled into the drive through line…read morewith only two cars ahead of us. The first car got their order and pulled away, the car immediately ahead of us pulled forward to the second window, and we pulled up to the first window. No one took our order. The small walk up/drive up style establishment had 5 to 8 teenage girls working. I kept waiting for one of them to open the window to take our order. One of the girls kept looking at us, but never opened the window. Even when no one was at the walk up window, still they didn't take our order. I suppose I should have knocked on the window...? Looking back at it, it makes sense that one window is the ordering window and the second window is the pick up window. Eventually the car in front of us got their order and drove off. Still no one had taken our order but when the car behind me honked (presumably at me), I drove forward to the next window. Immediately the first window and the car behind us placed their order. Looking back at it, it makes sense that one window is the ordering window and the second window is the pick up window. Eventually a girl opened the window we had pulled up to, and asked if we had placed our order. I tries not to sound too irritated when I told her that no one had even spoken to us until her. We placed our order for two burgers and two fries. We were there over 35 minutes from when we drove up to when we finally got our food. The burgers were okay, the order of fries was small. Really disappointing first impression. I'm not sure how we fell through the cracks like that. We probably won't go there again. If we ever do go back, we'll use the walk up window.
